Somewhere nice to eat in Winchester?

I'm meeting a friend tonight in Winchester and fancy going for a meal to catch up.

 

Now I don't know Winchester at all. Any good recomendations?

I've not been there yet but Porterhouse in Jewry Street gets great reviews.

The Gurkha Chef. My favourite curry house.

Gurkha Chef is fantastic. Porterhouse does look good but again, not been there yet. There is also a new Thai place oppo MacDonalds which has had good reviews

 

Favourite of mine though is El Sabio, the tapas restaurant at the bottom of town where The Mash Tun used to be

The Kings Head in Hursley has just been re done and is fantastic.

The Black Rat does good food and you can then retire to The Black Boy, Winch's best pub. The French place opposite the museum is outstanding as well

A cracking pub for sure, but the BB shades it for me.
