Professor Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 PNE forums say Pardew was impressed by Carter in the Barnet game and that Saints are in negotiations, with wages the possible stumbling block. Although he was a promising player a few years back, and is still only 26, he doesn't seem to have impressed at Preston, either the management or the fans. A common suggestion is that he has the ability but is lazy or lacks commitment. This could be just the sort of test Pardew and the coaching staff could take on, to breathe life into a failing career.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 The fact they mentioned wages being a stumbling block suggests its just made up, considering our wage bill/cap is probably higher than theirs.
shurlock Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 (edited) They were a stumbling block for Millwall who were looking to loan Carter for six months, so possibly the thick northern monkeys are just adding 2+2 with the rest of us amused how they can't count. Edited 30 July, 2010 by shurlock
supersonic Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 The fact they mentioned wages being a stumbling block suggests its just made up, considering our wage bill/cap is probably higher than theirs. You're right our wage budget is probably higher than theirs but I suspect he's on a fair wage and would want to be one of if not the top earners at the club, that could be the stumbling block? P.s. Before I get shot down I know nothing about this deal and it is just an idea. Amen
jasoneuelllfanclub Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 maybe preston pay him inflated wages, which seems to be common in football nowadays hence why they nearly folded earlier in the year. He needs to get realistic and realise clubs wil be a lot more prudent with fees and wages. Though having said that I would be surprised if saints couldn't meet his demands.
Saint Bones Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 My PNE mate agrees he has talent but goes missing too often. Also said he is on a high wage so I imagine he wouldn't want to drop it too much if at all. Hoping that Saints have the willpower to make sure they don't overpay players.

Turkish Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 I know for a fact we have that willpower or we would have signed a championship CM player in Jan. Stock?
suewhistle Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 Though having said that I would be surprised if saints couldn't meet his demands. There's the difference between ability to meet them and being prepared to. PS: Mods, is there any way of preventing primary school kids registering and posting on this forum?
Pilchards Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 from the photo I saw, Mr Carter is down Staplewood as I speak wearing grey trousers and a cool White shirt talking to someone on his phone. The players are starting to cone out in the training gear which suggests Carter is injured or being a lazy **** :-)
Pilchards Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 He's shaking hands with some players so maybe he's not Carter after all?
Pilchards Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 He's now leaving! About 6 ft 1, well built, black curlish hair. Looks more like a CB but I must add some players knew him.
SaintRichmond Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 he's shaking hands with some players so maybe he's not carter after all? get carter
Badger Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 He's now leaving! About 6 ft 1, well built, black curlish hair. Looks more like a CB but I must add some players knew him. Could he be the unnamed Italian/Spanish geezer from another thread ? Or was it decided he had to be ginger ?
Pilchards Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 Could he be the unnamed Italian/Spanish geezer from another thread ? Or was it decided he had to be ginger ? Without a doubt he looks foreign. Age 22 - 26
Badger Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 Without a doubt he looks foreign. Age 22 - 26 A foreign non-ginger age range 22-26. Lets leave it to some silly sod to research their computer game data base to advise on the possibilities here.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 Without a doubt he looks foreign. Age 22 - 26 Oooh this is like Guess Who? Who's hands did he shake?

DT Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 almost certainly Ronaldo A foreign non-ginger age range 22-26. Lets leave it to some silly sod to research their computer game data base to advise on the possibilities here.

Pilchards Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 Gimme a photo of Carter please. This guy looks like he is signing or he has turned us down. Foreign looks without a doubt, dressed like an Italian with the grey trousers and White shirt, has that Italian type hair like which is greased back, has a Raul type looking face. He shook hands with the fitness coach and a very big black guy in a coaching capacity role for the youth setup. Looks like a CB as he looks very strong. I reckon we have our next signing here? or maybe not! :-D
benjii Posted 30 July, 2010 Posted 30 July, 2010 What does that South American midfielder mentioned a while ago look like? Did you get a look at the ears?
