badgerx16 Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 In just over a week of foreign visits our esteemed new Prime Minister, the Boy David, has (1) stated that Britain was 'junior' to the USofA in 1940, ( a speech in the US ) (2) that Turkey should join the EU, ( a speech in Turkey ), (3) has called Gaza a prison camp, ( also in Turkey ), and (4) said that Pakistan 'should not be allowed to export terror', ( whilst in India ). Is he just saying what he thinks his hosts want to hear, or making foreign policy up 'on the hoof' ?
Kadeem Hardison Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 he reminds me of when Boj posts on one of Stu's threads.
buctootim Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 He is doing A deliberately without realising that by doing so he is also doing B. Mark my words it will all end in tears, or something.
Weston Super Saint Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Is he just saying what he thinks his hosts want to hear, or making foreign policy up 'on the hoof' ? He's a politician. Don't they all just say the things they think people want to hear?
scotty Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 tbf, I find it hard to disagree with any of those 4 points. And I am not what youd describe as a natural tory voter
alpine_saint Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 A more cheesy populist than Bliar and Obama. Never thought it possible...
moon monkey Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 I was more concerned about the UK film council ending
scotty Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 I was more concerned about the UK film council ending why would he mention that in turkey, india or the USA?
Johnny Bognor Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 In just over a week of foreign visits our esteemed new Prime Minister, the Boy David, has (1) stated that Britain was 'junior' to the USofA in 1940, ( a speech in the US ) (2) that Turkey should join the EU, ( a speech in Turkey ), (3) has called Gaza a prison camp, ( also in Turkey ), and (4) said that Pakistan 'should not be allowed to export terror', ( whilst in India ). If it is B and making up foreign policy on the hoof doesn't involve illegally invading sovereign countries, then perhaps it is better that way.
anothersaintinsouthsea Posted 29 July, 2010 Posted 29 July, 2010 tbf, I find it hard to disagree with any of those 4 points. And I am not what youd describe as a natural tory voter If you agree that the UK was the junior partner to the US in 1940 then it sounds like you need a history lesson as much as Dave.
badgerx16 Posted 29 July, 2010 Author Posted 29 July, 2010 If it is B and making up foreign policy on the hoof doesn't involve illegally invading sovereign countries, then perhaps it is better that way. True, but what is likely to say if and when he visits Israel or Pakistan ?
dronskisaint Posted 29 July, 2010 Posted 29 July, 2010 A more cheesy populist than Bliar and Obama. Never thought it possible... And I never thought I'd agree with you but that is how I view it too....
.comsaint Posted 29 July, 2010 Posted 29 July, 2010 I'm not sticking up for him (I didn't even vote for him) but he is correct about Pakistan - as everyone knows.
