miserableoldgit Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Can I suggest that sending an email about SFC to Mali, a company that has no commercial or structural links with SFC, is perhaps a little bit silly? Just a thought. A small gentle word, but it does sum up the mentality of some posters on here.
Marsdinho Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 meh. The club is sound and I believe Mr Cortese has the clubs best interests at heart. I support anything he does. Dont say stuff like that, DBP et al will put you in the "Im alright jack" group.... You dont want to go there, its a dark place...
miserableoldgit Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 I think it is quite constructive actually. Markus might be completely oblivious to the bad feeling Cortese is causing amoung some groups of Saints fans, and might wish to be made aware of it so he can have a quiet work in Nicolas ear. Liebherr does not come across as the arrogant ego-maniac that Cortese is. As you obviously know both NC and ML and have a complete knowledge of their personalities and their working relationship, you are probably right.
Fitzhugh Fella Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Can I be the first to predict this thread will one day surpass the Pompey takeover thread? Also I am not going to add any more personal thoughts until Ottery gives us the benefit of his legendary wisdom on these unfolding and riveting revelations. Nick Illingsworth is innocent.....................We need a signing!
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 (edited) As you obviously know both NC and ML and have a complete knowledge of their personalities and their working relationship, you are probably right. Once again, someone highlighting the 'mights' and 'come across' - words which quite obviously show that I am giving an opinion ( an informed one with regards to Cortese ) and that I am representing nobodys view but my own. Now it's apparantly wrong for me to give a personal opinion? Maybe I should resort to Benjii's posting style and state everything as fact, even though he doesn't have a clue what he's talking about? stevegrant Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Banning me would only go against everything you have argued so far on this thread That wasn't the point though, so well done on missing it entirely. In the hypothetical (but unrealistic) situation that I banned you from here simply for disagreeing with your opinion on something, would you not think that was unjust, and attempt to do something about it, raise awareness of the situation, etc? Or would you meekly sit there and think "oh well"? You just backed up my thoughts of you, you seem to assume that the first point of call for anyone with a grievance is the press....we don’t all think like that. Once again, well done for telling me what I think. I've never said that the first point of call is the press. In fact, if you actually read what I've written today, I said that Nick had gone about things the right way by NOT immediately going to the press (which he could easily have done), instead contacting people in the right department at the club, and then when he got no reply, contacting people in other departments who might also be able to help. If, as seems on the face of it to be the case, the club have simply ignored his requests for an explanation (would you agree that he at least deserves an explanation?), what would you suggest his next move is?
kpturner Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Banning me would only go against everything you have argued so far on this thread, and make you look a little bit of a t1t. Show me an example of where that has happened. Plenty of people have been banned from here (and its predecessor); I don’t remember too many stories in the echo highlighting the fact. You just backed up my thoughts of you, you seem to assume that the first point of call for anyone with a grievance is the press....we don’t all think like that. Not wishing to take sides and all that, but didn't you miss the point a bit there?

I know many things about Cortese as FACT! which prove his arrogance and complete contempt for his staff and Southampton supporters, I have drip-fed the odd thing every now and then, but choose not to divulge too much, especially as I do intend on going to a few home matches this year if possible!

Dont get me confused with the obsessed posters you have on here. - Nick deserves NO explanation whatsoever, I may change my view once he has explained how mauch money was raised at Saints Aid, and where did it go, or if he could explain the fiasco behind the silverspoons debacle and why people havent had a refund.
Micky Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Does he live far from the ground? Who knows? But I'm thinking that as he goes to SMS every other week, it is not beyond the realms of possibility that he could make the ticket office. I have to admit - like many on here, with many of the 'points raised' I am errr speculating - but it's a decent shout...!

Marsdinho Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 The funny thing is, is that this thread is now 12 pages long, and yet still we dont know the FACTS. Are these threads going to replace "Im ITK" permanently, or just until the new season starts. TSF at its best.

benjii Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Wahoo. There you go again. In one post telling everyone what a chopper NI is for speaking on behalf of all fans. Then in the next you claim to be speaking on behalf of all fans. LMAO No. Just no. I said "in my opinion". I don't speak for anyone else or pretend to. That doesn't preclude me from having an opinion on what the general feeling actually might be. I think it is what I said it is. I might be wrong. I think it's best if you try to avoid arguing around semantics as you're not really clever enough. LMAO - really? That simple?

Quite. Given a choice between the way Cortese deals with all things Saints and NI, its no contest. We have quite a few saints 'fans / supporters' who used to 'be someone' associated with the club years ago and cant reconcile the fact they dont have a role anymore.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 I might have asked you this one before Stu - but is there anything that you don't know? Not alot, no.

trousers Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Ignore the fact that it's Nick. What if it was just AN Other fan? But I think the point some are making is that this sort of thing is much more likely to happen to someone in Nick's position than to 'a.n. other' fan. In other words, "a.n.other" fan without Nick's 'connections' is unlikely to fall on Cortese's radar. So to compare Nick to "a.n.other" fan is a misnomer* in some people's eyes. (*Quite possibly the wrong word to use but I know what I mean (sort of!))

Marsdinho Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 So if A N Other fan sent letter upon letter to the Echo about, say installment plans, and was banned,.... what would you say? It all depends if the story is "leaked" on here. I guess most of us wouldnt be aware of the situation until the anals on here got hold of it and started using it bash NC.

Dave Benson Phillips Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 (edited) When it comes to the The Trust, then yes, I have strong feelings and will continue to argue my views on the subject until im blue in the face... Its just a shame that you chop and change, depending on who backs up your views. My hatred of the Trust still exists, but to be completely honest, the organisation is dead in the water, it will never succeed or get a credible amount of members, so I have lost alot of my anger towards it as its not going anywhere. This is mainly due to the fact we have such a diverse fanbase which are not united at all in comparison to other clubs. Maybe this has happened since the Lowe era, maybe since administration, but one things for sure is that Cortese is making no effort to repair the cracks, and infact is only widening the gap between various types of supporter. We do have some seriously fickle fans that chop and change their opinions... I go back to ( once again ) the last game of the season as an example, where fans joined in together chanting "on the pitch on the pitch" all of the second half, booing PA announcer and generally as one, creating the impression there was going to be a pitch invasion and everyone was going to join in. Then... as soon as a few people out of the thousands singing "on the pitch" actually were true to their word, the crowd turned and instead started booing and chanting "w@nkers, w@nkers" . That day just showed to me what a fickle and sheep like bunch of supporters we have, it was embarrassing, the Southend fans were p!ssing themselves. This forum mirrors the retardedness of that day. If not, you may have plunged your credibility into the depths ..... :-(
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Do you know for a fact that that is why Nick is banned? Yes, Dulldays knows everything. He is best mates with limp-wrist Eddie, and he told him so himself.

If not, you may have plunged your credibility into the depths ..... :-( Did you not think that day was slightly cringeworthy? 1 minute singing "on the pitch" , next minute chanting "w@nkers" at people on the pitch? There is a very real point and example to be made out of this... that our fans will just go along with the popular vote at the time, with no consideration to whether the side of the fence they are sitting on is the right one in their own mind.
Thedelldays Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Do you know for a fact that that is why Nick is banned? no...hence why I said..IF.. as it goes round and round and round...nick has not been banned...have no idea why you are saying that...and we dont know why he money was returned..

From what I remember, to most people with a brain, the chant was just meant as a wind-up aimed at the tannoy announcer's insistance that it there should be no pitch encroachment. The idiotic few who actually did it just showed that they didn't have the mental capacity to realise it was just meant as a wind-up.........or at least that was how I saw it ;-)

Regardless of whether some saw it as a windup... to boo the fans and call them w@nkers for doing exactly what had been chanted all afternoon was embarrassing.

Regardless of whether some saw it as a windup... to boo the fans and call them w@nkers for doing exactly what had been chanted all afternoon was embarrassing.I didn't actually witness anyone chanting "on the pitch" and then calling the people that did it w@nkers so I will have to take your word for it (and they were w@nkers - that is for sure). But that aside, if you want to find examples of why SFC fans are any more fickle than other fans, then this example is not very credible.......it sounds a bit juvenile - the sort of thing my 11 year old daughter would dream up to illustrate a point. I know that sounds insulting, which is why I was hoping you did it with your tongue planted in your cheek. FWIW I think every football club in the world has a high percentage of fickle fans in their midst.
Sour Mash Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 meh. The club is sound and I believe Mr Cortese has the clubs best interests at heart. I support anything he does. Fair enough - you'd support him if he banned you for very little and charged £50 a ticket?

John B Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Why can't any of you answer the question? If it was just A.N. Other Saints fan this had happened to, what would be your opinion? Surely it is because he is NI that he may have been bound I doubt whether any old Joe would have been banned
Marsdinho Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Why can't any of you answer the question? If it was just A.N. Other Saints fan this had happened to, what would be your opinion? The FACT that its NI is the main crux of this whole argument. Some people are using this situation to bash NI and the trust, and some people are using the situation to bash NC. It would be an entirely different situation altogether if it was AN Other, yet I would still feel as though I dont really care about someone not having a season ticket. Its not the end of the world, he can still go to home and away games.
Marsdinho Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 (edited) Fair enough - you'd support him if he banned you for very little and charged £50 a ticket? Thats a bit childish. Im sure he's based his view point on what he has personally experienced so far, you can throw in as many "what if he did this....what if he did that" as you like. Probably wont change his view point. What if NC bought Messi, Xavi, Iniesta and Lucio tomorrow, would you still NOT support him. See we can all make "What ifs.." up Edited 28 July, 2010 by Marsdinho

Marsdinho Posted 28 July, 2010 Posted 28 July, 2010 Looks like changing your name didn't work then mate. Im sat here wondering how he's going to turn this all around. He's going to need Max Clifford. Around the time of the Silverspoons event, and his organising of coaches etc, I would say he was a popular member of this forum. It appears though that his impression of a bird you have just finished with has got on a few people nerves. Must be a bit dissapointing to see your alter ego slip so far.
