How does it work?

I'm sorry legod. I just don't buy your reasoning that because we have a bit of money now, we should be prepared to overpay.

Teams may need money now as you say, but you can be sure that come the end of august many will be panicking and may well be prepared to accept less. This is the reason so much business is done on deadline day, and just because we have a few quid now does not make us immune to that.

I know AP is playing the waiting game well but like someone said, for the sake of £100k we could lose both our first games while someone like Tyson could make the difference.

The thought of being top of the league and putting the fear into other teams is the greatest football feeling ever.

You throw around numbers like £100k as if it was peanuts. Would you seriously pay £100,000 over the top for something regardless of how rich you were? If you would, then you would not be rich for long. Some fans have lost a lot of humility over the last 12 months it seems to me.

However wealthy we are, we still have a budget, and it's not a bottomless pit. This mythical £100k you have plucked out of the air is part of that budget so AP and NC still have to try to get the best value for the club on player purchases.

Hypothetically, say we have 2 million and we are trying to use it to buy 3 players, an extra £100'000 on one player might mean we miss out on another, whereas we can wait for a better deal and try to get all three at our valuation.

You can be sure that certain people would be moaning if we paid over the odds for a player who went on to be a dud.
