70's Mike Posted 23 July, 2010 Author Posted 23 July, 2010 Been on the OS weeks ago! that told me. i had not heard about it
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 23 July, 2010 Posted 23 July, 2010 We also discussed the removal of the legends names off the suites and for some wacky reason, most people decided there was no problem with it.

The Kraken Posted 23 July, 2010 Posted 23 July, 2010 To be fair, it's a fakkin good laugh in the MLT and boxes where the booze is free, but yes, f*ck paying for the '1885 Club' and still having to pay for your beer. Wine and beer is included in the price. But still, 2 hours of buffet food and beer/wine for £75 plus VAT = one big over-priced ripoff to me.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 23 July, 2010 Posted 23 July, 2010 (edited) Wine and beer is included in the price. But still, 2 hours of buffet food and beer/wine for £75 plus VAT = one big over-priced ripoff to me. Ahh, never used to be. 2 hours drinking before. ( 6 pints ) £21 Half-time ( 2 pints ) £7 1 hours drinking after ( 3 pints ) £10.50 Buffet £15 Best seat in house £25 Yep, I reckon I could get my moneys worth at that rate. You have to remember that these are aimed at the Corporate market... and are very good value for that to be fair and priced to get people in, in the hope of repeat business. Edit: Alright then, I will have enough buffet for 2 people. £30 Edited 23 July, 2010 by Dave Benson Phillips
Panda Posted 23 July, 2010 Posted 23 July, 2010 It's only a 'rip off' if you have to pay it and you don't. If you don't want it don't buy it, others who do will. Simples!
Saint Without a Halo Posted 23 July, 2010 Posted 23 July, 2010 Look at this way, the more corporate guests the less need to raise ticket prices for the rest, or even the more money available to invest in players. Companies usually pay for these as part of their marketing costs to attract and retain clients!

Weston Saint Posted 23 July, 2010 Posted 23 July, 2010 For the England v Australia IOD at the RoseBowl the charge in the Robin Smith was £525 plus vat per person with a minimum table of 10. That gave champagne reception, 3 course dinner and free bar all day (incl spirits) They sold out!
Gambol2K9 Posted 23 July, 2010 Posted 23 July, 2010 I think it's pretty good value, I'd certainly consider it for the occasional games. If you're just looking for the cheapest possible ticket then obviously this ain't for you!
Massimo Osti Posted 23 July, 2010 Posted 23 July, 2010 Having done the"corporate thing" a few times Dave , I would suggest the waiting staff are made well aware of the drinkers looking to make the day cash friendly. We get taken by a non drinking client and his non drinking manager and we still have to blag beer to make up your amounts. The totty serving the beer are told not to pour it down peoples throats and make it almost imposable for those up for a good drink to really get on it. To be honest the whole thing is a bit sh!t but if its a free day on a cup game we dont moan .........................

Depends who you are with I guess... luckily the corporate contacts I have that I end up in a box with all like a good day on the beers... Marc Jacksons ( bosses ) box the beer was always flowing. I don't think they have the box now though. :-(
Tokyo-Saint Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 Coporatate tickets are a complete rip off outside of the strange world of finance. Me and the co owner of our business are saints fans. Therefore a company outing to Saint Marry's down as a tax write off seems like a bargain. it is all down to who is paying. The thought of stu greengrass saint joining our company jolly and eating my share of the buffet does fill me with dread though.

Daren W Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 Can people pay by installments? If I hear one more smug installment quip I do think I will throw up. I'm surprised you didn't mention budgeting, credit cards or the pitfalls of being a working class poor person...
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 If I hear one more smug installment quip I do think I will throw up. I'm surprised you didn't mention budgeting, credit cards or the pitfalls of being a working class poor person... It's so amusing Daren, the right top of the comedy tree. Well thought out and humorous. It is funny that most of the people who come on here and take the p!ss about people losing out on the installment plan are from USA, France, Plymouth etc etc... but if it gives them a sense of well-being, bless 'em.

You only go for the beers any way - so you say.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 Get a sense of humour FFS. If I tell you the same unfunny joke every day for the next month, will you still be laughing at the end of the month? No you won't. Mainly because it wasn't funny in the first place.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 You only go for the beers any way - so you say. I still pay my money and go to more Saints games home and away than 95% of Saints fans. So my reasons for being there are irrelevent.
NickG Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 why are you more interested in the boardroom than the team? that is how it appears.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 why are you more interested in the boardroom than the team? that is how it appears. NickG There is not alot happening on the pitch. So that's what normally happens. Also, as a regular corporate customer since the days of the Executive Club at The Dell, this also is something which is close to my heart... I don't kick off about things unless they are things which i have experienced/have a connection with. An example is the car parking. Almost doubling the prices and not bothering to contact the parking STH's was wrong, I made my point and left it. Hope this helps. xx
NickG Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 fair enough. not much happening but don't tend to see you on new player/signing threads or season predictions just those about communicaton, pricing or boardroom.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 fair enough. not much happening but don't tend to see you on new player/signing threads or season predictions just those about communicaton, pricing or boardroom. I am just quite passionate and can see the way the club is going, and don't like it. We are 125 years old this year and it really bugs me that Cortese is wiping our proud history away. I heard something that he said in a rant to another member of the senior management team, and it bugs me. Thats all. Some people don't care about history, and prefer success. I don't want to wipe out our history, or the gratitude to the people that made that history. I am not wrong for my views, you are not wrong with yours. I do think as time goes on, more and more people will be jumping across to my side of the fence ( which is the minority at the moment ) Time will tell I guess.
NickG Posted 24 July, 2010 Posted 24 July, 2010 although I have good memories, promotion, fa cup, keegan channon ball boyer moran etc I pay my money to enjoy a saturday afternoon watching a good team - this is and should be NC's priority imho

I was lucky to get hooked on Saints from the early 80's, when Cortese gives me some memories like that, I might be able to forget the previous ones, but for now, we are in League 1 so excuse me if I cherish the memories made by the players that made it happen.
