Papa Shango Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 Carlton Palmer Paul Williams Graeme Le Saux Jamie Redknapp
CitySaint Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 Definitely Neil Maddison, was probably our other player of any note circa 93/94/95.
Victor Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 was a hero and well sung. (not a misprint!)
70's Mike Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 so was jimmy melia. not always at the time , until people got used to his style.
Crab Lungs Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 Patrick Colletter - tough as old boots Wikipedia agrees too... Seems PC had a very interesting life before football! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Patrick_Colleter Defo agree with Paul Williams suggestion, and Monkou too. Spose Dryden is a good shout, although my memories of him will always be soiled after we reluctantly trotted him out at SJP against Newcastle a few years ago...
monsoon Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 not always at the time ' date=' until people got used to his style.[/quote'] you could be right. better known for partnership with paine/chivers and then davis
Lowestoft-Saint Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 I guess i will just add a few players who had fairly decent runs in the side, yet never really set the football world alight, but all worthy of recognition from saints fans. Neil Maddison Reuben Agboola Malcolm Waldron

Neil Maddison Reuben Agboola Malcolm Waldron Reuben had a funny career really, one great season in a system that suited him but the rest ?
70's Mike Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 Ulrich van Gobbel not someone to get on the wrong side off
StAndy1970 Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 Title of this thread was Unsung Hero. Got to be Frannie Benali. You talk to most non-saints fans and they rate him as terrible, but we all no how impotant he was to us.
rpb Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 How about Cliff Huxford? Paine and Sydenham got all the praise but he was with us from Division 3 to Division 1.
Under Weststand Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 Malcolm Waldron, Mark (Psycho) Dennis & the best unsung hero for me was Nick Holmes, he is the sort of player you only miss when he wasn't there. Add David Peach in there as well.
Norm Posted 30 September, 2008 Posted 30 September, 2008 'Big' John McGrath! He reminded me of Desperate Dan of the Dandy comic. Eric Day, Tommy Traynor, Ken W, Hughie F, Ivan G, Stuart Williams, Tommy Hare. Some of many, imho.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 1 October, 2008 Posted 1 October, 2008 Maddison Oakley Shipperly Dowie Telfer Benali Dodd
skintsaint Posted 1 October, 2008 Posted 1 October, 2008 Jeff Kenna Dave Beasant Jim Magilton Craig Maskell
John B Posted 1 October, 2008 Posted 1 October, 2008 not always at the time ' date=' until people got used to his style.[/quote'] Jimmy Melia helped us to Div 1 he was always available to receive the ball
Dalek2003 Posted 1 October, 2008 Posted 1 October, 2008 David Armstrong The 'bald eagle' def one of the best !
derry Posted 1 October, 2008 Posted 1 October, 2008 Ron Davies, Jimmy Gabriel, Tony Knapp, George Kirby, Chris Nicholl, George O'Brien, Brian O'Neil etc etc.
miserableoldgit Posted 1 October, 2008 Posted 1 October, 2008 (edited) Has to be Ali Dia for sheer effrontery! Edited 1 October, 2008 by miserableoldgit
equalizer Posted 1 October, 2008 Posted 1 October, 2008 Tommy 'widdo' Widdrington. David Hughes Ronnie Ekelund
Pugwash Posted 2 October, 2008 Posted 2 October, 2008 John Sydenham. Never got the praise he deserved, playing alongside Paine, Chivers, Channon and Davies.
hasper57saint Posted 2 October, 2008 Posted 2 October, 2008 I know he's 'just down the 27' but Joe Jordan for me. He frightened the life out of my nipper when he appeared on the pitch with his teeth out. He was so fearsome I'm sure he would frighten a Bulldog out of a Butchers Shop. Ah! What memories.
