Bid for Nathan Tyson Rejected

just had a peek on a forest board...apparently £400k should have been plenty for a player that "cant trap a ball, pass well or score many goals"

hmmmmmmm

When did we put in a bid for Heskey ? (Oh and they forgot can't win headers and is powderpuff at tackling or being tackled !!)

I'd like to see Tyson here. He's got a lot to offer, especially in this division and although he's hardly been prolific at Forest, he could make a name for himself at Saints IMO.

Would be a cracking bit of business if we pulled it off, but time will tell.

Tyson is a perrenial HCDAJFU - I would say the majority on here has wanted him for so long now that he'd definitely be the marquee signing we crave. I still doubt it will happen, but no more than any transfer I see written somewhere until it's confirmed.

My Forest supporting mate thinks he is a very good player and having watched a lot of Forest with him I would tend to agree. He is direct, quick scores regularly but not prolifically. I think he would be a great alternative to Lambert and you could partner him with any of our other strikers. He offers us something different with his pace and strength to what we already have and he also has versatility as he can play wide left as well. I think if we can get him for 750k then we should definitely make this deal.

----------------Hammond--Schneiderlin----------------

Puncheon-------------Lallana---------------------Tyson

-----------------------Lambert---------------------------

Will be difficult to keep Harding, Dickson and Mills happy. Can't see Richardson or Butterfield being happy to be second choice either. Really competitive squad if AP can keep morale up.

If he signs, I think we are a CM away from being the real deal.

Nail on the head from what I know about Tyson he could be cover for Lambo and has the pace we lack did he not score a loy of goals in league 1 for Forest ?

As Bert says if we get him we are a quality centre midfielder away from a very very strong squad with cover and competition in all positions.

It is going to be good time at St Marys the future is bright in red & white COYS

Has he signed for £600K!? According to our favourite rumour site Jason Puncheon has told this person that Nathan Tyson has signed for us for £600k.

I'd be surprised if JP was telling a fan that we had signed him before being officially announced?

No doubt we will find out early next week if this is true unless there is some news from todays game

But Tyson, who has a slight groin strain following Wednesday's win over Mansfield, will not be considered for either trip.

What a load of b*llocks! This is the sort of sh*t clubs come out with when the player in question is at another club negotiating their contract as part of a pending transfer!

Hopefully Tyson is on his way to contract negotiations with AP and NC at SMS!

I'm not too excited by the prospect of Tyson to be honest. Your mates observations are interesting but in contrast to some of the other comments read from Forest fans.

After Tyson's name was first seriously linked with us,someone put up a link to a Forest forum where the general view was less impressive, ie past his best, has lost his pace which had been his main asset, and questions raised over his attitude.Of course thats just a snapshot of opinion on an internet forum ( possibly by a poster called Alpine Forest ?) so not necessarily gospel, but not a glowing endorsement.

For the £500-600,000 it might take to bring him from Forest, I suspect that would also be enough to prise Antonio from Reading which in my view would be a far better investment.

Henderson might be the sort of battering ram centrefoward we need in this division. We never play well against one so it might well be a good option to have one in our own ranks.

Just so we have both sides, here are a few quotes I found on a Forest forum about his possible move here:

Tyson is a fine League One player...Great attitude, searing pace

I can't help but think with him that he would be better if he played every week. Some players appreciate squad rotation, whereas I think he just wants to play.

He's been a great servant to Forest, what he lacked in skills and technique he made up with pace, I'd be sad to see him go but its what is best for him, promised regular football upfront.

I would be delighted if Nathan Tyson was to sign down here, think he would do well with Lambert.

Tyson would do well there, alongside Lambert.

That would be a good move for him, if he is played up front then that is his level and would probably do quite well.

With Connolly and Barnard already competing to play alongside Ricky, and then only if the formation is 4-4-2, shouldn't there be other priorities for a £½m spend. Tyson is reported as saying he doesn't like playing wide, but aren't wide players what Saints need ahead of another striker?

Yes I agree and we are playing 4 5 1 today at Sutton

So,combining the logic of the above posts, it could be said that we will have great competition for places, with the three above mentioned players competing either for a starting place that does not exist (unless we rest Lambert),or possibly two places on the bench from where they can make a 20 minute cameo appearance. :?

I'm sure AP knows what he wants and what he is doing.

So don't tell him! Say you need him as a striker, get his name on that contract, then as soon as the ink dries, stick him on the wing. Perhaps not the greatest way to treat a footballer, but then it'd be up to him to get a strikers spot when he gets the opportunity.

I hope so but then I thought Capello knew what he was doing.

I just cant see Barnard or Connolly being back up to Lambert

Is he really further down the Forest pecking order than David McGoldrick are are they just short of cash?

neither. He played 40 games last year. McGoldrick hardly got an outing. As for being short if cash, I don't think Doughty has spent his £140m just yet.

Puncheon was left out today with an ankle injury. He must be on his way.

Then why on earth would they want to sell a player you say they rate, for less than they paid for him and to a lower league club?

I'm not sure I said they rate him. They played him a lot, but maybe they didn't have anyone better there last season. They are trying to sign Wittingham. If they get him then Tyson won't be required to play left midfield. I'm not sure Davis especially wants him to leave but if he wants to go they would probably want there money back.

Tyson would be a fantastic signing, he's quite a similar player to Waigo but slightly quicker and more powerful. His goalscoring record ain't half bad either. Would be very happy if we did sign him, he'd add a lot of quality to our already good squad!
