indeed...maybe alps was right about the "getting the players in early"....no matter what, there is no excuses this season..

Perhaps we should have got Dickson and Richardson later and then they would not have been injured

Let's not start that one again. Everyone would hope to have the players in as early as possible, but as AP himself has pointed out it's not as easy as that, getting the right players in can take time and unfortunately we have to play a waiting game for them to become available. We "could" have made many signings by now, but if it means that we subsequently miss out on better signings then I'd much rather wait.

In fairness, even Alex Ferguson said the other day that pre season is purely for getting players physicly (sp?) ready for the new season

He even said that includes the charity shield.

Yes but his teams usually play well preseason

I cant see if Saints are not playing well in Pre Season they will start playing well in the League.

But I dont know how they are playing at the moment so I will have to wait and see

Injuries are part of football it's why we need strength in depth, of course if they're all going to get buggered up before the season even starts we might need a bit more depth than we first thought . Judging by last season we need at least 20 RB I don't what it is, but that postion seems cursed at saints these days.

not playing well..no shot on target yet...876 attendance

But apart from Dickson they are getting in shape

Glad I did not go then which I was thinking I would do until my daughter ended in Hospital for 24 hours

Luckily she is better and home now

The first half was a bit insipid (if that's a word). Pre-season is to get fit and to play some matches. It worries me a bit, having watched the first half, that the biggest test we'll face is Reading FFS. Eastleigh as out last friendly worries me a bit that we're not going to be ready :-(

Rather not have a dominatrix queen running our midfield thanks :scared:

But yeh we seem to reverting to the old square pegs in round holes game. No harm in trying different formations out in these friendlies but they do show a bit of a weakness outside the starting XI.

Agree with that Eric.

Its all about fitness and match practice. ...and trying out players and new formations without the risk of losing points.

Some people on this thread seem to be calling for a revolt because AP is trying something new.

We know that last season's formation worked..but we have to have aplan B and here's the time to try it ..

Sounds like a great warm up!

Rather worried that we still have no Adam starting, Puncheon injured and now Dickson! Let's hope they can be fit for the Plymouth game!

I guess the new "sash" is going to gain some credit for todays start...Davis didn't recognise his own player - Jaidi!

The best example yet why we should NOT have changed our strip so dramatically

It will be like watching TWO away teams at St Mary's

but pardew has even said that we have purposely lined up the friendlies we have in order to get wins under our belt....so it cant all be just about fitness etc

1, NO it will NOT be like watching TWO away teams. Don't be so RIDICULOUS.

2, why on earth do you have to EXAGGERATE every SINGLE sentence with WORDS written in CAPS?

Personally I don't give a sh*t about the pre-season results, and the players are probably feeling the same way. I just want the f*cking league season to start!

no one is..no one at all...just sounds good

Sometimes MRS B says I look revolting because of my unusual dress sense not that I wear dresses

i noticed seabourne hasnt been involved in pre season games that much. is he nursing an injury like lallana?

No he played the other night was OK but not thought that good by most

Perhaps the most RIDICULOUS analogy I've yet heard REGARDING our new KIT.

ALSO, your SPORADIC use of capital LETTERS makes no SENSE at all.
