..... Director of Football. NC made comment quite a while ago that they would have a Director for footballing and prob this summer - just wondered what happened or if anyone has heard anything.

I think he has since remarked (in an interview with BBC) that he has realised that a DOF wouldn't fit in so well in the English game as well as it does on the Continent.

Besides I think Les Reeds appointment partly covers the job of DOF (in looking after the young players and bringing them through) and leaves Pardew with the job of identifying and signing players.

Is a good thing its not being mentioned, I really dont think we need one, with a good manager and a good chairman in place, surely all directors of football do is complicate things? long may it remain the way it is ... except with a few new signings before the season starts!

No urgent need for the moment, but still his intentions for the future. I don't know at what level he believes A DOF is vital, certainly not League 1, maybe not the CCC, but almost guaranteed for the Premier.
