Interesting rumour. he's been on the fringes of the Wigan team, but never quite made the breakthrough (although having the likes of N'Zogbia and Valencia ahead of him can't have helped...) Think he plays wide predominantly and can take a decent set piece as well. Could be a decent replacement for Antonio /Waigo as an impact player

Hmm not sure on de Ridder. He has never made the breakthrough at any club he's played at so stepping down a level or two might just help him. As a loan signing, he can do a job so fair enough but have to have some concerns about a player who has never played more than 30 games for any club he's been at.

he was pretty good for the dutch under 21's a few years back. I would have expected him to have done better for himself since then. Think he played in the same team as Babel, sneijder et al that knocked england out. Think he would be far too good for league one though.

This lad is a very decent player. Was at Birmingham on loan I think and Bruce took him to Wigan on a permanent. If he came here, he wouldn't be 'an impact player from the bench', he'd be looking to push the starting XI. Also, on Soccerbase it states he has been signed by Hapoel, not a loan...Personally can't see him dropping this low.

I can feel a new thread title in my water....

"Is this the first ever Saints player with an umlaut in his name?" (Daniël de Ridder)

Save yourself the hassle.

Uwe Rösler.

Probably just a little too good for us, very much doubt he wouldn't be able to find a championship club that he'd prefer.

Definately the calibre of player we should look to sign once up into the c/ship though.

My brum season ticket holder mate (who has a decent eye for a player) suggests the following:

He is very talented. Don't really understand why he never made it. He has quick feet and can beat a man. He has pace and can cross. Bit of a show pony and doesn't like tracking back too much. He was a luxury player and in teams like birmingham, these luxury players need to be bloody good as they don't pass to feet that often. It is probably his mentality that has held him back. He would be too good for Div 1 and if I was you I would be quite excited if you signed him.

I thought you were describing MLT there for a minute....! ;-)

De ridder is a good player.

Technically way too good for league one.

There have been a few crazy rumours this summer, would be nice if one of them came off. Surely we will have one left field signing?
