Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Sorry guys, again I realise it could be bull, but heard from a mate up in Bury that we are after Daniel De Ridder on loan from Wigan. Creative attacking midfielder, was on loan in Israel last season.
labibs Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Interesting rumour. he's been on the fringes of the Wigan team, but never quite made the breakthrough (although having the likes of N'Zogbia and Valencia ahead of him can't have helped...) Think he plays wide predominantly and can take a decent set piece as well. Could be a decent replacement for Antonio /Waigo as an impact player
trousers Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Please can we have a rumour about someone I've actually heard of? Please? (In addition to Michael Owen and Rudi Skacel of course)
Gorgiesaint Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Hmm not sure on de Ridder. He has never made the breakthrough at any club he's played at so stepping down a level or two might just help him. As a loan signing, he can do a job so fair enough but have to have some concerns about a player who has never played more than 30 games for any club he's been at.
trousers Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 I can feel a new thread title in my water.... "Is this the first ever Saints player with an umlaut in his name?" (Daniël de Ridder)
opthomps Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 he was pretty good for the dutch under 21's a few years back. I would have expected him to have done better for himself since then. Think he played in the same team as Babel, sneijder et al that knocked england out. Think he would be far too good for league one though.
Saint Mikey Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 This lad is a very decent player. Was at Birmingham on loan I think and Bruce took him to Wigan on a permanent. If he came here, he wouldn't be 'an impact player from the bench', he'd be looking to push the starting XI. Also, on Soccerbase it states he has been signed by Hapoel, not a loan...Personally can't see him dropping this low.
Minty Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 I can feel a new thread title in my water.... "Is this the first ever Saints player with an umlaut in his name?" (Daniël de Ridder) Save yourself the hassle. Uwe Rösler.
Crab Lungs Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Absolutely bloody awesome! De Ridder is immense! I think Morgan will also be bumped from the "female fancies" top spot, too...
The Cat Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 He's too good for league 1, which is why I hope this is true.
trousers Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Talk of him going back to Ajax on here.... http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=558&fid=516&act=1&mid=2120881029 Ajax vs Saints....hmmm, tough one.... :-) Preston also interested....? http://boards.footymad.net/forum.php?tno=558&fid=516&sty=2&act=1&mid=2120895847
saint_stevo Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Wigan>Hapoel Tel Aviv>Southampton? Your mate just read this and made it up- http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11661_6270931,00.html
Rasiak-9- Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Probably just a little too good for us, very much doubt he wouldn't be able to find a championship club that he'd prefer. Definately the calibre of player we should look to sign once up into the c/ship though.
Chez Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 My brum season ticket holder mate (who has a decent eye for a player) suggests the following: He is very talented. Don't really understand why he never made it. He has quick feet and can beat a man. He has pace and can cross. Bit of a show pony and doesn't like tracking back too much. He was a luxury player and in teams like birmingham, these luxury players need to be bloody good as they don't pass to feet that often. It is probably his mentality that has held him back. He would be too good for Div 1 and if I was you I would be quite excited if you signed him.
Saint_clark Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Save yourself the hassle. Uwe Rösler. Alexander Östlund.
trousers Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Eric isn't going to be a happy bunny about us starting his "Is this the first....." thread before the player is signed....

MongoNeil Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Egil Östenstadt nope Østenstadt Were they brothers?
doggface Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 De ridder is a good player. Technically way too good for league one. There have been a few crazy rumours this summer, would be nice if one of them came off. Surely we will have one left field signing?
Block 5 Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 Can't see it....... None of these crazy rumours ever come true.

BotleySaint Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 It is about time we got ridder these unsubstantiated rumors...
