wadesmith Posted 21 July, 2010 Share Posted 21 July, 2010 I saw my first ever Hampshire game aged 9 at the United Services Ground , it was Marshalls first season 1979. There were a load of Pompey boys banging beer cans and chanting 'Kill'Kill'Kill' every time he bowled. Wisden tells me he took 5-13 that day. It was ****ing brilliant! He took over 800 wickets for Hampshire at 17.91...17.91!!! The greatest ever.
corsacar saint Posted 21 July, 2010 Share Posted 21 July, 2010 Ask the likes of Gooch,Gatting e.t.c who was the best bowler they ever faced, they will all say Malcolm Marshall. We were incredibly lucky at Hampshire to have two of the all time greats in Malcolm Marshall and Barry Richards. Not to forget Aderson Montgomery Everton Roberts and Cuthbert Gordon Greenidge, ( who I believe was technically qualified for England before he played for WI ). krissyboy31 Posted 21 July, 2010 Share Posted 21 July, 2010 Not to forget Aderson Montgomery Everton Roberts and Cuthbert Gordon Greenidge, ( who I believe was technically qualified for England before he played for WI ). Remember as a kid being heart broken when Roberts left and thinking we'd never be able to replace him. MM joined us as a youngster not that long after his Barbados debut and became an all-time great and still, to this day (even though he was not a great deal older than me) my all-time sporting hero.
