An Invitation to Column writers

There is an element on this board, a faction if you will, who would not let that happen.

No, no, no. We'd love you to right a column. The mods have made it clear you are welcome to.

It's fine by me, and I'm pretty sure it'd be fine by everybody.

Sorry Ponty but if Scooby starts using that ridiculous name for Mr Crouch I ask for him to be banned.

Also if people call Mr Lowe and even Mr Wilde stupid names I think they should be bannished as well.

There is no need for any of that type of name calling IMHO

From Baj's own fingertips Mr Belt.

"There are no guidelines in terms of your angle, we will not censor your views, as long as it remains within the confines of the rules of this forum and the guidelines above, in fact we look forward to vastly opposing opinions."

I'm sure name-calling is outside of the broad forum rules, and therefore wouldn't be ok in any columns.

I'd also like to think that Scooby is actually able to write some useful content without resorting to such actions.

It, of course, is possible that I credit people with too much decency but that's where I stand on things.

The article I'm really looking forward to reading would be by Andrew Cowen

My year (and a bit) in the Wildeerness

(Just what DID he and Rupe's do while concocting their cunning plan?)

Followed by Leon

My regrets

And then of course, anything by Scooby

But I actually agree with the idea of Trousers and the Takeover column. Just imagine an abuse-free zone where he can really (libel laws permitting) get the facts behind such great stories as "LLS - my part in Bournemouth's downfall." "The Tyre Kickers Guide to the Universe", "Yachting for Beginners" - wonderful stuff

And then, following on from an idea based on what used to be a wonderful monthly article in "The Coombe Bissett & Homington Express" by Deirdre Millhench (God bless her) called "It occurs to me..." we could have

IMHO by Morph

Bring it on I say

(Oh and of course - as per my previous post which I humbly take the credit for giving this idea to the guys for...

How to write a weather report - by ericofarabia - better known - as the - Pray you are not on a plane trying to land in Dubai while the resident Air Traffic Controller is dancing around the Tower having just found out we've whipped Norwich at home story.....:-)

Please consider this guy!!!

http://www.redandwhitebill.blogspot.com/

He's a great writer for someone that hasnt hit 20 yet.

I've put him forward because he's having trouble logging on to here at the moment and cant do it himself.

Thanks.

A very good shout. The young guy writes in an excellent prose style

typical of a sports reporter. And typical of the Echo type, there was an error. Stefanovic was the ex Skate, not Stankovic. ;) Otherwise a good read.

Very able.

Good, then maybe you could answer this in your column.

Scooby, tell us where the 10,000 that you said deserted the club after the "night of the long knives" who would return with Lowe's return?

Of course, the fact that the 10,000 turned their back on the club doesn't make them "real fans" anyway using your own criteria as laid out in dozens of posts.

If you want a pro Lowe type columnist go for a poster called stthrobber (used to write for S4E til Keith sacked him). At least his articles won't make this site a laughing stock like Scoobies would.

correct!

As much as I enjoy reading Scoobys postings, I am convinced he is a skate. That said, the language he employs is fantastic, carefully chosen to spark reaction and contraversy, which is excellent on a fans forum which is open for saucy banter and jaunty debate, but not for a 'published' collumn.

Anyone with a handful of intelligence should be able to write an arguement for either 'side of the coin' regardless of personal preference, prejudice, passion etc. This is where I think some of our most intriging posters fall short (IMO) Scooby, Alpine, Chorley, Beast, and many more (please dont take offence if I did or did not list you!).

For these reasons I would vote for an academic, I also enjoy the postings of Steve Grant, or... if he could be charmed back, Fitzburg himself. I telephone interviewed Duncan for my SFC/CCC finance investigation last year and whilst he clearly didnt sit on the fence (ala Lowe and Co) he certainly was prepared to weigh up the merits of all sides and balance, justify and support his arguements accordingly. Thats what makes an interesting and insightful read in my opinion!

Ironic that. Your Dark Lord Rupert and his chums would know all about organising minority factions to take control eh Scooby? Hurts doesn't it...

Love the double entendre!

Personally I'd like to volunteer Trousers. I think he could write an excellent Trousers' Takeover Talk column. It would feature his own tire[some]less brand of investigative journalism where he could interview ITK posters and speak to the people at the centre of the stories to get to the facts so he can ignore them.

In his rabid search for the truth, he could use the SaintsWeb subscriptions to travel all over the world to cut through hype and ignore denials.

He could visit Paul Allen on his yacht to find out what stopped the deal going through at the eleventh hour.

He could talk to the bloke who had the video conferencing business in Guildford and ask him what scuppered the deal with the Arabs.

He could explore the rumour that Jonathan Fulthorpe is in fact not a barrister but instead a barista who works in Costa Coffee in Eastleigh.

He could travel to north Basingstoke to ask Barry just what was in the briefcase.

He could visit Alan Shearer's northern mansion and explain to him how each Newcastle denial he issues leads him inexorably closer to the St. Marys' hot seat.

He could create the world's largest library of photofit ear pictures and compare them with the ears of every Director's box attendee to answer the question "Are you David Dein?"

And once a year on March 1st, we could celebrate St. David's day by asking what would it take for Lowe to sell up? As a Life Long Saint, I think he deserves this once in a life time opportunity to become the single biggest user of Google images. You know this makes sense.

What? He already does these things? Oh...:p

For all my (hidden) talents....I've still no cotton pickin' idea who Andrew is....

Would this be the same Professor who has stated on here that he's not going to SMS anymore because it's a waste of money?

Surely that would put him in the "not a real fan" camp?

Yes it is the same one, and despite having followed Saints for nearly 50 years - possibly before View From the Top was soiling his first nappy - I'm not going regularly to SMS because I've deteriorated into a fair weather supporter! I now go occasionally. This is in no way a criticism of RL, MW, and JP who are doing their best with the limited resources available. I do believe MW was at fault for the disruption he caused with his regime change but that is water under the bridge. I simply do not want to spend my Saturdays (6 hrs including travel) in seeing my team struggling, week after week. When home form improves, so will the frequency of my attendance. My vote for an author is for Scooby.

I would like to see Daren Wheelers excellent column from the Pink reproduced on here. His views are usually well thought out, logical and sensible. They deserve a wider audience (geographically speaking).

Daren Wheeler and excellent column isn't that an oxymoron whatever the connotation of column? Considering the bile the bloke has spat about this club especially with regard to his pious attempts to collect money for Cancer Research which I suspect he would not have bothered had his mother not contracted cancer herself. Believe me IMO Daren Wheeler is the last person we need to speak out on the club in an unbiased fashion. No doubt he will be hitting them with his 'charity stick' for a long time obviously so or otherwise.

Just an opinion but appears the type to carry a grudge even in light of an explanation and one who strikes me as needing to be treated differently and above the normal fan to court a more favourable opinion. We need balanced assessment and IMO from what I have read from Wheeler on here that is unlikely to happen.

Your sneering attitude towards DW's work for Cancer Research is sick.

My god you really are the most odious little ponce aren't you?

I think everyone should take a long look at this one quote and take a long hard look at it...

No doubt he will be hitting them with his 'charity stick' for a long time obviously so or otherwise.

Now I can't believe I'm going through this again but obviously for those with either a)A rampant agenda or b) Limited intelligence, it needs to be s p e l l e d o u t... ( and i think you fall under both categories)

I never asked the club for money. Not once. I asked the club to help me raise money for charity. No donations, no cheques, just the plain and simple opportunity for them to help me raise money for cancer research...

Got that? Has that penetrated that dull, one tracked brain of yours?

They didn't just refuse, they just ignored it. Tossed it away, popped in the bin, file 13. They ignored an email, a letter and a phone call. Not from an uberfan who thinks he's special but the son of a mother who's dying of cancer and who wanted to make some sense of the unfairness of it all by trying to help other people..

Got that?

Upon ignoring that simple request I mentioned it my Echo column purely and simply because I couldn't believe that the club would just ignore a request to help someone raise money for charity, in the vain hope that SFC's PR department might think it be worthy of picking up as not the best publicity for the club and they might actually help.

They didn't and after mentioning it four times they still didn't pick it up which whilst you think it's me "spreading bile" I think it's me pointing that the club, your club, just couldn't be arsed to help me raise money for charity. I think people deserve to know that, it's their club after all.

You then have another simple request for my mum to meet the manager and get her shirt signed. Cost to the club? **** all. Nill pounds, nill pence but again this club, your club, couldn't be arsed to arrange a visit for a dying woman to meet the manager for what? ten minutes and get her shirt signed. A fan of some 65 years and they couldn't even be arsed to do something that's free. It was left to Dave Ford to do something off his own bat and by that time the chemo had made her so ill she just couldn't go.

And yet on here you had insensitive ****s like you saying that I'm some grief stricken madman on some angry vendetta to bring the club down. One bright spark even stated that "You wouldn't expect you local Vovlo dealership to help you with charity money so why should the club?"

The fact that this club used to be the heartbeat of the city/community and has always helped deserving causes is lost them. Perhaps I'm wrong, perhaps Cancer research doen't need money raising for it, perhpas the club doesn't have to help people raise money for a good cause and any money they raised in the past is just jollty good luck. Perhpa the club doesn't need to answer to it's fans/customers as after all what are we other than... oops! the people who keep it in business.

And then the club sent me my season ticket renewal forms. It was tant amount to saying, "Well you know we couldn't be arsed to help you raise money for charity and we know we couldn't be arsed to get your mother's shirt signed etc but is there any way you could pay for all your games in advance this year?"

They can go **** themselves, the board that is, not the club and so can you Sundance or whatever your real name is. You're sadly indicative of what's wrong with this messagebaord. You're a coward who thinks he can spew insults and bile with inpugnity with the safe knowledge that they will never have to meet that person face to face and say to their face what they so freely say behind the safety of a pc screen.

Don't bother replying Sundance, not unless you're prepared to grow a pair and say it to my face.

Just remember one thing...

Your id won't be a secret forever, pc bods are an intelligent lot and sooner, rather than later your real identity will come out and when it does I promise you one thing. I will find you. I wil track you down. And when I do you 'll have the opportunity to say

No doubt he will be hitting them with his 'charity stick' for a long time obviously so or otherwise.

to my face... and believe you me, I'll enjoy it darn sight more than you will.

In the meantime I'll get ready my first article for Baj and Granty. If it does nothing other than **** you off it'll be time very well spent...

Remember others don't expect so much and understand that if the club does something for one they'll be committing to doing it for others no matter how tragic each case may be. Most fans don't have a mouth piece from which to trade their personal agendas.

Thank you for your response on which I have nothing further to add.

Darren i hear what you are saying. It's not the fact the club refused you that is the issue, it's the fact they never even bothered to reply to say no. As far as i'm concerned a football club is a community institution and they should do the little things that is IMO their civic duty.

Why my dad was in hospital with Cancer with a couple of weeks left to live i bought a get well card from the club shop, put the hospital wards address on it and a stamp and asked the lady in reception if she could get the players to sign it and then send it off. At first she said the club don't make a habit of signing cards - thinking it was a christmas card, but once i explained things she said she'd see what she could do. Within a few days he receieved the signed card and it made a dieing man smile.

In DW's instancethe club were out of order, but as my example shows the club do do the right thing as well sometimes.

As for Sundance don't take any notice of him. He's just a vile non entity.

Stanley, the I don't feel the club has to do anything, they never have had to do anything, they just do and it's what makes football clubs like ours stand out.

You're absolutely on the money when you say that it was not the refusal, I was always chancing my hand by asking, but the sheer arrogance of not bothering to reply vthat annoyed me. If I was asking for something for myself or a jolly or a freebie then yes but asking for help to raise money for charity and to hear nothing, especially when I asked for ten minutes of the clubs time to do something for my mother, well that was pretty shameful.

A simple yes or no would suffice but to ignore it...

And as for Sundance, well I think the cowardly little scumbag will get what's coming to him. Karma's like that...
