Turkish Posted 16 July, 2010 Share Posted 16 July, 2010 would you ever buy anything from there? Now i know you can pick up the odd second hand bargain off of ebay and from charity shops, i even give my old clothes to the Cancer place in Portswood but could not bear the thought of wearing something another man has been sweating in. In fact i find it quite repulsive. If you had only a fiver and could buy a second hand Boss t-shirt from Help the Aged or a plain one from Primark what would you choose? It'd be Primark every day for me, simply because i'd know no dirty, smell c*** had worn it before me. What about you lot?
fish fingers Posted 16 July, 2010 Share Posted 16 July, 2010 I'm not fat so the clothes i buy from charity shops have not previously been worn by any sweaty blokes.
Turkish Posted 16 July, 2010 Author Share Posted 16 July, 2010 I'm not fat so the clothes i buy from charity shops have not previously been worn by any sweaty blokes. They could well be dirty though, imagine buying a pair of jeans and the bloke that owned them before wore them everyday and only bathed once a week, his arse and **** cells would be all over them. dune Posted 16 July, 2010 Share Posted 16 July, 2010 Yesterday I discovered TK Maxx and spent £200 on jeans, t-shirts (polo shirts), socks, shorts and a belt. I then called into JD sports and bought a pair of sexy adidas italias. Who needs charity shops when you've got shops like these?
buctootim Posted 16 July, 2010 Share Posted 16 July, 2010 Charity shops can be great for finding stuff you wouldn't get elsewhere, particularly vintage. True probably not in Bevois Valley Age Concern but in affluent areas they can be great. Generally if I couldnt afford much for clothes Id rather buy new from Primark. Got a girly friend who found a pink fur and leather full length coat, probably £2,000 or so new for £100. you cant get that in Primark.

I just find it ironic that you critise people for wearing stone Island, yet brag about shopping in arguably the most chavvy shop there is. Dont get me wrong, i have picked up the odd bargain in there on a few occasions, it is good for that, but kit out my whole wardrobe from there? No chance, still if you think the likes on Bench, Carhatt & Tommy Hilfiger are cool then crack on.

The make is irrelevent, it's the quality of the material and whether I like it that matters. The only exception to this is trainers where I do push the boat out a bit. RedAndWhite91 Posted 16 July, 2010 Share Posted 16 July, 2010 Turkish, there is such thing as a washing machine you know? Not a massive fan of those Italias to be honest. My next addition are a pair of black Spezials, then it will be blue Gazelles with yellow stripes next payday. Gotta love Adidas trainers but I'm surprised dune would get something with a badge; it's hardly discreet, there's 3 massive white stripes down them. Yeah i know, i think it's the idea of it, another blokes sweaty pits or arse in my clothes. I am even funny about letting peole borrow my stuff. I am a big addidas fan, the spezials are good, have you had a look in Size in town? My most recent purchase was a pair of grey forest hills with blue soles, cracking with a nice cut pair of jeans. If I saw a nice item (decent label of course) in there on the cheap I'd get it, no worries. Yeah went into Size in town and they had the Spezials I want, but I am a size 9 and they only had 8 and 10. Typical. Think they are an old-ish colourway so having trouble finding them elsewhere. Only place I can find them is the Adidas site, but that is a tenner more due to them being more dear and p + p. I know the forest hills are a classic pair of trainers but I am undecided on them. Some colourways and designs make them look awful. Yours sound alright though. RedAndWhite91 Posted 16 July, 2010 Share Posted 16 July, 2010 Well if you'd been kitted out in hi techs as a kid you'd understand. I was!! We weren't very well off, always wanted a pair of those classic white Nike trainers everyone had but my parents couldn't afford them.. Incidentally my first pair of astro turfs were Umbro ones with the Man Utd badge on them, bought from a charity shop in Woolston! I got black shoe polish and went over the Man Utd badge before I wore them to school the next day!

dune Posted 16 July, 2010 Share Posted 16 July, 2010 (edited) The thing that either makes or break nice trainers, imo, is how you lace them. It has to be straight accross and tied so the knot doesn't show making them slip ons. tied in a bow and criss crossed makes you look like a pikey.
