Scudamore Posted 15 July, 2010 Posted 15 July, 2010 Dear oh dear. This has all become rather tedious hasn't it? And how!
SanFranciscoSaint Posted 15 July, 2010 Posted 15 July, 2010 He has done a an excellent job. Saints are not a charity, and he is trying to make us a proper money making company,(which is unfortunately rare amongst football clubs now). He does have a few communication issues, but overall; his handling of the club affairs and the behind the scenes improvements at the club, have been very well handled and implemented. He will get better with more experience, and the club will benefit from that.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 15 July, 2010 Posted 15 July, 2010 Stus complaining at the "im alright jack" atitude is quite funny.. he was "alright" when bragging about getting 30 JPT final tickets..which he bragged was far more than he was entitled to (im sure he will say something different) his response to those not happy about the JPT ticket surchage was "stop moaning you girls" (or words to that effect) im sure upon reading this, he will send me YET ANOTHER PM asking to meet up for a "chat" to sort this matter out.. this place is like an obsessive soap opera.....for years we hoped for a chairman we never heard from and who did thing professionally etc...now we have one, all SOME can do is ***** about him...old habits die hard I guess It's easy to have that view when you don't go to games and none of the taxes/fees/removal of benefits etc affects you because you don't go to games, isn't it? And I would say that it's you that is obsessive... commenting on threads about removal of benefits which don't affect you as an armchair/internet supporter at all.
dune Posted 15 July, 2010 Posted 15 July, 2010 I agree, very little ............... Apart from Cortese, ie Leibherr have Saved OUR Club from extinction INVESTED Millions already as opposed to Lowe INVESTING NIL Pounds, ie NOTHING, ie ABSOLUTELY NOTHING, in either of his tenures Yup, you are right ...... not a lot to choose between them PS You're post WAS a joke wasn't it ???? No it wasn't, and there is little difference between Lowe and Cortese as people and how they operate - if anything Lowe was actually better at PR. Can't believe I said that but it's true. Markus Liebherr is the difference between the two regimes.

Exactly, for people like you that live thousands of miles away and won't ever be affected by the charges, taxes and rip-offs, I can see why you will have that view. For you, you just want to see Saints as far up the league as possible, and if they have to do it by charging your fellow Saints fans ( not including you of course ) , then so be it. As for his handling of behind the scenes improvements... when you say well handled, you mean that through his arrogance and non-professionalism causing the training ground development to be delayed I assume? Yes, I see your point.

I disagree Cortese, on behalf of Leiberr, is driving Saints FORWARD to regain our lost status All Lowe ever did, was to drive us DOWNWARDS, to where we found ourselves BEFORE Cortese/Leibherr Rescued us BIG BIG difference IMHO
dellish Posted 15 July, 2010 Posted 15 July, 2010 like the first reply where were we heading before they took over ,,,, let the man get on with his job ,all you ****ers who moan have very short minds ,**** and join pompey they r doing well

Frank's cousin Posted 15 July, 2010 Posted 15 July, 2010 What I find so churlish is the fact that this is always made so personal... it was with Lowe, with Wilde, with Crouch etc the dutch duo, all on the base and frankly immature and ridiculous assumption that these is some way went out of their way to screw up the club... and now some morons are taking teh same tack with NC... FFS. There is no problem in having a debate about the approach being taken, afterall that is what fans do and what a forum is for, but at least keep it in perspective. I get teh impression that there is still a divide amongst fans - not between supporters of a regime or person and those against him (if you scrape away and discount those that seem to always need a hate figure possibly to mask their own inadequacies - life must be so disspointing for them), but between those who still wish to see football clubs run to the oloder more traditional values of yesterday - a desire for the wonderful communities they bread and that were at teh heart of fan culture, and those that have recognised that the game has evolved to teh point where (rightly or wrongly) success is based on a sound business model that will sustain investment, where there is little room for sentiment, and little room for old school ways - now there is no problem in having either view and debating it, but as I said does it have to go to attacking NC personnally? We had enough of that childishness with Lowe et al. and I though we had finally grown up and recognised that if we wanted to grow as a club, we needed to look and support strategies that might not always sit well with teh spo called 'traditional values' - that is not NC's fault, its the way the game has gone... he is merely reflecting that need and driving the club forward with all that in mind - toe will be trodden on and some may not like it, but surely most can see the rational behind it.... then again, many struggled to see the rationale in NOT getting into debt to support the first team.... so maybe thats hoping for to much...

I remember something like that...along with him bragging about getting way over his allocation of tickets (about 30) due to a **** up with the bookings.......sort of an "im alright jack" attitude, wouldnt you say..?
saintsmike25 Posted 15 July, 2010 Posted 15 July, 2010 Well my mind has completely changed on Cortese from a VERY good source. God he should keep a better eye on what is going on in the 'football' side of things.
westofshannonsaint Posted 15 July, 2010 Posted 15 July, 2010 Personally I think Cortese has done an excellent job in his first year as CEO or even involved in football. yes he has made some mistakes along the way including keeping the tiff with the echo going on. But he has given a few articulate interviews and statements, should he really have to be at the beck and call of the press. at least he isn't in talking sh*te about star trek
trousers Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 Well my mind has completely changed on Cortese from a VERY good source. God he should keep a better eye on what is going on in the 'football' side of things. Eh?
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 you should have just copied and pasted the link... I'm just hoping he'll back the **** up and sit the **** down. I don't like Cortese, BUT, he did bring in Liebherr and I appreciate that. Therefore he has earned the right for the benefit of the doubt. To me this all smacks of people enjoying complaining, and that people have got used to complaining over the last 5 years. Now we have very little to complain about, so people try to find things.
CB Saint Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 Well my mind has completely changed on Cortese from a VERY good source. God he should keep a better eye on what is going on in the 'football' side of things. Oh you are in trouble now - wait for it. "Source what source, If you don't name your source then you are just a rumour monger / WUM / attention seeker. If you are wrong will you promise never to post on here again." etc etc
up and away Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 I asked for someone to provide a link to a quote from Liebherr stating he will walk away if Cortese ever steps down as Chairman. Also, Cortese has said publicly we are running as a self-sufficient business... it can't be both, can it? Don't worry, the accounts will be out in the next couple of months, I will prove my point and you wrong again and you will ignore it and fail to put your hands up, like you have done several times before, like the girl that you are. It's best if you just just restrict yourself to ASBO support groups on facebook. Cortese has never said we are running as a self sufficient business. What he has said, is that the aim is for the club to sustain itself in the future. The difference between the two, being not having to account for all the money that comes out of Liebherrs pocket for the acquisition, infrastructure and player fees, initially spent. As for the accounts, unless you are providing private services to Dave Jones, you wil be in for a long wait.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 Im glad we have the people who are in charge now, rather than the dark days of LoweIts a little weird but at the same time, comforting that we dont have to worry about the future of our club anymore and we can bring in good players without the need to sell half the squad. But saying that Cortese has to stop ignoring the fans and stop this worrying trend of not caring about our history,ie changing the names of the suites and having a pop at MLT. If he could employ a better pr stance, then i think things would be so much better.

It's called using common sense, I am speculating that we are running self-sufficient now ( when you take out the initial aquisition costs ) , I might be wrong... if I am not then will you come out and say " fair play DBP, you stuck to your guns under a hail of abuse from the Ubers, but you were right " .... nah, didn't think so.
saintsmike25 Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 I have a HUGE source for this. But their job would be on the line if I told people publicly. It's mainly in regards to the amount of training the team did during the course of last season, and Cortese's attitude towards staff.
Joensuu Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 I have a HUGE source for this. But their job would be on the line if I told people publicly. It's mainly in regards to the amount of training the team did during the course of last season, and Cortese's attitude towards staff. You don't have to name whoever your source is, and we don't care if he is HUGE, perhaps he should go on a diet? But it would be a little bit more interesting if you clarified whether Cortese's attitude to his staff, and the amount of training undetaken last year is a positive of negative thing. All you have told us so far is that this has caused you to change your opinion, am I safe in assuming that previously you belived the Stanley-Stu consiracy theory, but that now your HUGE source has confirmed what the majority are suspecting, that actually Cortese is taking the club in a positive direction?
steveo Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 Going Very well. Could improve slightly, but then again who is perfect? We are lucky to have a chairman like him...IMHO.
docker-p Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 Ok, but generally not a fan of his. I'm delighted to have ML's money, i just wish we didn't have to have NC with it. Alas i think the two go together.
saintsmike25 Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 No I'm a fan of Cortese and believe the direction he is heading into the club is the right one, but certain things have just slightly irked me. I'm not talking about season tickets or anything like that.
