I can appreciate it that he has done many a good things for the club with the setup of the management structure etc... although with his funding I would expect that from most half-decent football chairman.

Really, if we had any sense we should be organising ourselves right now to ensure that come the moment the fans are in a position to buy the club (a la Barcelona style). I am sure Marcus would rather sell to the fans than someone unscrupulous.

Interesting the amount of "ITK" and connected posters who suggest that Cortese has quite a few character flaws which should be amended in order for SFC and the supporters to move forward successfully together. Steve, Ron and Duncan to name but three.

Liebherr saving the club and the attitude of Cortese now is completely separate in my eyes. If Cortese learns some humility and gains a better understanding of english football (or appoints someone who does) then great. I don't expect this to happen though so I'm not particularly thrilled with SFC at the moment.

At the end of the day Southampton Football Club is not a disorganised Pub Crawl arranged at the 11th hour by a a bunch of lads who have been on the lash for most of the day already, neither is it a charity. It is a Multi Million pound business that needs to run as a business not off the back of a fag packet.

Many clubs are run off the back of fag packets and beer mats and they end up paddling in the mire.

NC has done a good job, what is hurting is change as the saying goes "no one likes change". In a year or 2 many folks will have forgotten all the issues that are on peoples minds at the moment. If we were looking forward to a season in the Championship this year much of what has gone on would not be of such concern........................ As Lawrie Mac once said in conversation: after signing Kevin Keegan, the following season the ticket prices were doubled and no one batted an eyelid.

Because Cortese has threatened them with legal action for using the club crest because it will apparantly damage the clubs chances of getting to the Premier League... yeah nice one Mr Cortese. Various others have also recieved threats of legal action for stupid little things, infact I await a letter saying I am being taken to court for posting this!

 

Why has the training ground development been delayed? Because Cortese had a row with one contractor, expecting them to start the work without paying any money, because apparantly " his word is his honour " ... so quite understandably the contractor told him to f*ck right off, downed tools and walked away.

 

Anyone that knows the in's and out's of Cortese's dispute with Francis Benali will also know what a complete **** Cortese is. For anyone that doesn't know, Cortese has rented Francis Benali's house... that's all I am prepared to say, but some of the things that have happened during his tenancy are beggars belief.

 

Then we move on to the fans, where he is consistently treating fans with disrespect through lack of communication, disregard for the supporters charter and making every decision based on money and absolutely no thought or consideration for the fans.

 

Many of you on here, infact most of you on her won't give a toss because you want to see Southampton win at any cost, so good luck you, nothing wrong with that view, everyone looks at their club in a different way and no way of supporting the club is wrong. There are many people that need to be treated with a bit of respect as a customer and not feel like they are being ripped off, or they will simply walk away... this will start happening this season, I am certain of that. Not every supporters wants Southampton to " win at any cost " .

I am very happy with him to date. Although I agree the ticket fiasco is tough on some of our fans and for that it is a shame

 

However as someone who tries to remain balcanced I think we have got to rememer a few things.

 

- Firstly his previous job was a senior investment banker (or somehting similar) he has never run a company or been a CEO before and its not a simply position I imagine or at least not a position that you can learn in less than a year!!! Those on the board in my company have got 30 plus years experience in the industry, have proved themselves as general managers within numerous positions in the UK and abroad and they know the company's ethics and code of conduct. So this is a big jump for NC and I am sure he is learning every day! Also am sure investment bakning is pretty 'cut and thrust' and back stabbing is common if you want to gte ot the top - so sometimes hard to change the way you've been used to working for the last 5 yrs etc!!

 

- It does not matter where you work - if people are unhappy for whatever reason then they will moan and when moaning they will tend to exagerate to make their moan look a little better. Even i come home form work and moan at my partner about a meeting and probably make it seem worse than it was! So the stories coming out of the club - how do we know for sure that they are true? maybe 80 / 90 % is.

 

- if he is genuinely asking people to come back to work early or faced being sacked - then i am sure he will be breaching employees contracts, and if he is then if i was that perosn i would let it happen and then sue the company. As people are saying Marcus is from a respected name so he wont want a bad name against him and law suits! So maybe he has changed people's contracts and waived a few perks that they used to have.
