Nexstar Posted 13 July, 2010 Posted 13 July, 2010 tbf this is the sort of game you need in a pre-season, not a thrashing.....but a hard workout, not just an easy 13-0 win against some 8th division Swedish team or whatever. far more beneficial in the long run to have an early workout like this IMO. Couldn't agree more, a hard workout against tougher opposition is much better than the games we've seen in recent years.

Friendlies are for match fitness. Saints haven't had their best 11 on the pitch for 90 minutes each half has had a mix of younger players and regulars from the large squad they have taken with them.
