EBS1980 Posted 11 July, 2010 Posted 11 July, 2010 Does anyone know what the situation is with Bart? Is he still with us and gone to Switzerland or has he now left the club?!?
CWD Posted 11 July, 2010 Posted 11 July, 2010 Rumour on the HCDAJFU thread is that he's being used as a makeweight in a deal for chris lines. There were also reports of him having a trial at a Portuguese team. All rumour though atm
SuperMikey Posted 11 July, 2010 Posted 11 July, 2010 Apparently he's not gone to Switzerland, and Brizzle Rovers are rumoured to be involved in a deal with him as he's still out of contract here. Would be a shame to lose him, he's shown he's more than adequate to step in but Kelvin is first choice and it should remain so.
Badger Posted 11 July, 2010 Posted 11 July, 2010 As I understood it, out of contract and free to discuss moving on. Early suggestion of "wanting to stay" , but perhaps not so keen to commit in reality.
corsacar saint Posted 11 July, 2010 Posted 11 July, 2010 According to another site,he had a medical at Braga in Portugal last week and failed it due to an unspecified reason. One could hardly blame him for wanting to leave, however if that leaves Tommy Forecast as the only other senior keeper on the clubs books we have real problems.

Interesting that we could go from a position where one area which was not considered a problem suddenly becomes an issue. I think Bart's interview with the Echo lulled us into a false sense of security and now we're in a position where we may have to recruit a reasonable back-up. I wonder if we'll be able to do that whilst offering Forecast as a makeweight...

I accept he did fail a medical with Braga. I'd like to know why, as in whether it should affect any offer we have put to him. Subject to this ... I'd like him to stay and I'd like to see him used for more games ... maybe he is given all cup games? He does need to be playing games, especially as we have withdrawn from reserve league, and he needs to move his career along and gain experience, here, if not there. There was also talk that Pernecky wanted to move on. Like Corsa, I haven't been impressed with FourPast in warm=up games so we could need another keeper soon.

Maybe the contract Saints have offer is subject to this medical condition, hence he's looking around. With KD not getting any younger a decent back up is required. Where did Forecast go on loan to last season btw?

Doesnt sound like he covered himself in glory tho Matt Greep pulled one back late on for the hosts, after a mis-kick by trial keeper Matteo Carvarsan.
Windmill Arm 2 Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 We should hang on to Bart, good keeper for the future, and more than qualified to step in for Kelvin.
treggs23 Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 I heard that Bart is going to sign for a Norwegian team on a free transfer, and that Barnsley are still interested. Not ITK or anything, just a rumour, so may or may not come to anything
Marsdinho Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 (edited) Richard Kingston anyone??? Edit: I thought he was available on a free Edited 12 July, 2010 by Marsdinho
John B Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 We should hang on to Bart, good keeper for the future, and more than qualified to step in for Kelvin. I think Bart may want to play for a First Team with no reserve fixtures this year what is he to do at SFC
Gorgiesaint Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 We should hang on to Bart, good keeper for the future, and more than qualified to step in for Kelvin. I think we've done as much as we can - we've made him an offer & it looks like he wants to go elsewhere to get first team football.
VectisSaint Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 I think Bart may want to play for a First Team with no reserve fixtures this year what is he to do at SFC No-one has said there will not be reserve fixtures this year, just that they won't be in the mickey mouse reserve league. This story about Bart makes the release of Michael Poke even more strange. We kept him for years while he developed, finally he got the experience needed at Torquay and proved what a good keeper he is, certainly in FL terms and then we release him and apparently our #2 leaves as well. Forecast is not good enough as backup, so unless we have someone else in mind (can't comment on Pernickey) we are now apparently in a bit of an awkward situation.
benjii Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 I wouldn't be too concerned about the overall situation. If KD got injured I'm sure we would be able to recruit a good keeper on loan for a while.
Chez Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 Isn't the lad Perneky (spel) supposed to be top class?

I know there will be some Mickey Mouse Friendlies for the Reserves. I do however agree with your analysis about the goal Keeping Situation but I cannot blame Bart if he wants to leave Seems to be a slight mess unless they think Forecast is going to improve Edited 12 July, 2010 by John B

I must have missed it when we said were out of the reserve league. I thought that was Poopy? Can understand why we and any other half decent teams drop out of them leagues though as they serve as of no benifit to teams at either end of the tables. Releasing Poke was crazy. He is set up perfectly to be KD's number 2 and given a run in cup matches could of really pushed him on in time to maybe take over from KD in the future. I actually thought Bart might want the step up sooner so would have prob left leaving the door open for Poke. Now it looks like Bart does want to go I wonder what there plan is? Do they look to get bad forcast good enough to be back up or look to buy someone thats happy to sit behind KD? I would have thought that if they do look to bring someone in then they wouldnt simply look to find a 2nd best but look to get someone better than what we have. Where would that leave KD?
saintjay77 Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 Isn't the lad Perneky (spel) supposed to be top class? I think he has been good at his level but asking him to step up this much might not do him any good. Suppose those at the club would know better. Did he travel with the rest of the 1st team or did he get left behind too?
Kenilworthy Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 Caspar Ankergren was released by Leeds at the end of the season and i don't think he has a club yet. He would be an ideal signing as backup keeper.

Pernecky appears to have dropped off the radar - there's been no announcement but he's not on the squad list so can only presume he was out of contract as well. I believe Kelvin & Forecast were the only goalkeepers that travelled to Interlaken.
paulwantsapint Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 If BB is off / already gone what about signing an old keeper who can double as gk coach
Iowsaintsfan Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 If BB is off / already gone what about signing an old keeper who can double as gk coach Enter David James!
Matthew Le God Posted 12 July, 2010 Posted 12 July, 2010 If BB is off / already gone what about signing an old keeper who can double as gk coach Saints have a 1st team goalkeeper coach already.
SNSUN Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 Any update on this, or is it just a matter of biding time? It'd be a shame to see Bart go - after putting so much effort into his nurturing. If he stays, he's surely only a season or so away from the number one spot...
Andy_Porter Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 We would be better off getting someone in on loan for a season. Then after we've been promoted look for a new keeper, someone like W******d from Coventry who we can stick with for the next 5-6 years in the Championship and Premiership. Signing a permanent keeper now would be foolish, relying on Forecast would be a disaster.
Ivan Katalinic's 'tache Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 Football Rumours is linking us with ex-Wycombe no 1 Scott Shearer on a year long deal. Would be reasonable back-up IMO.
Bristol_Benji Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 This whole Bart thing is quite interesting. I'm one of a few researchers for Southampton for Championship Manager (yes i know, nobody plays it....blah blah), and in mid-june, just before Bart's statement that he was coming back to sign an extension, a portuguese researcher contacted me asking me to 'accept' the transfer of Bart to FC Braga. I couldnt see anything about it on here or the internet so i rejected it, but he responded and said the local papers there are saying its a done deal. Then everything went dead for a bit, and now it's cropped up again. Whatever's happening, it's been going on for a while.....
Matthew Le God Posted 16 July, 2010 Posted 16 July, 2010 (edited) I'm one of a few researchers for Southampton for Championship Manager (yes i know, nobody plays it....blah blah) They certainly won't next year, as there will be no Championship Manager 2011 on PC/Mac and possibly never again. SamKimish Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 Bart is starting against Basingstoke I saw this, not sure whether he is playing for a new contract or just to stay fit but it should be interesting to see how he gets on.
alpine_saint Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 Bart is starting against Basingstoke Hopefully an indicator that the situation is about to be resolved.
SNSUN Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 Hopefully an indicator that the situation is about to be resolved. As long as he's still at the club. In loan terms, Fraser Foster please.

Gorgiesaint Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 I saw this, not sure whether he is playing for a new contract or just to stay fit but it should be interesting to see how he gets on. Well I can't see us allowing him to play just to allow him to keep fit for someone else, it would be an opportunity missed to get another goalkeeper some fitness & match practice. A positive sign but I'll be happier when the OS states he's signed a new contract.
Saint_clark Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 bet he would rather be in Switzerland! Yes, but it would be pointless flying him out there with only a couple of days left.
CWD Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 I HOPE this is good news and that he has failed to secure a move. He will be a top keeper for us if we get the PL IMHO
Saints67 Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 I would certainly be happier with Bart between the sticks should Kelvin pick and injury/suspension rather than Mr T. Forecast
moon monkey Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 But Butterfield went out to Switzerland with 2 days left.
the saint in winchester Posted 17 July, 2010 Posted 17 July, 2010 (edited) I had a chat with Bart when he came to the bench for the second half. I asked him if he has signed his contract, to which he replied, "not yet." I encouraged him to get on and sign and he said "I will, this week I sign contract, ok." Good enough for me. Bart told me himself he is signing the new contract. I said I hoped he was given more games and he smiled. Edited 17 July, 2010 by the saint in winchester
Bailey Posted 18 July, 2010 Posted 18 July, 2010 Hopefully Bialkowski will sign a new contract, otherwise we're short of cover. If Davis was to pick up an injury, I wouldn't feel confident with Forecast in the sticks.
Iowsaintsfan Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 But Butterfield went out to Switzerland with 2 days left. Bart knows most of the squad etc Butterfield doesnt
Saint_clark Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 But Butterfield went out to Switzerland with 2 days left. I got the impression he'd been out there for longer than that...
the saint in winchester Posted 20 July, 2010 Posted 20 July, 2010 The first team (out in Switz) needed a right back, there were already two GK out there, so no need for Bart to fly out.
