More likely to be rules if I'm involved:D

 

I reckon everyone who wants to partake should say be allocated say up to 10 points a day to be placed on any selections, minimum 1 point or 1 point ew. So if you want 10 points on your NAP then fine. Given that the number competing is likely to be small, (2 maybe ! ) then settling the bets shouldn't be that difficult if you keep it to plain singles or ew bets and no doubles, trebles etc;

Needless to say you don't need to play every day, obviously then you score nought but lose nought. Also if you have a day when only a few tenous fancies no need to use 10 points.

If this sounds complicated sorry, I know what I mean !

Just opening it up for a further debate.

Oh and each challenge to run on a monthly basis so each month the reigning "champ" is there to be gunned down ;)

New thread starts each month which should make it easier to follow?

Sounds reasonable mate, although to make it easier to work out we could limit this challenge to one bet / selection a day and you can have 5 points e/w or 10 points win, with a new thread started monthly......other tips can of course go on the usual thread, this is just for the challenge...

Really though nothing strong enough today for me and I'd still prefer more than one selection, in fact I'd go as far as to say maximum 3/5 points any one bet otherwise you end up on the last day of the month with maybe someone miles ahead and a 10 point 100/1 winner just for the hell of it actually wins ! As above ( or maybe on t'other thread) I know how these things can work !!

Anyway I think it is fair to say my awkward streak is well and truly on over drive;)

So essentially without any established rules the challenge cannot start !!!

Fair enough mate, if we're going to do it, best to do it properly eh.....as you have experience of this sort of thing Chris i'm happy to go with any set of rules you can think of, then i'm good to go..the bragging rights will be immense:-)

No, I don't want to dicatate the rules Frankie ! I'm hoping a few others will post an opinion and we can find some middle ground ! I was going to suggest dragging kipwit over here but in truth I doubt that would help much !!!

Anyway I really must drag myself on ( Noooooooo I mean OFF D'oh) here and FB. Never mind writer's cramp RSI is becoming highly probable :)

Chris can think of lots of rules but whoever started this wretched thread seems to be conspicuous by their absence, talk about passing the buck:rolleyes:

No problem....just getting in a little practice ;-)

 

Placed at 11/2 anyway so small profit ! Requisite is one of my 4 selections in an ew yankee on the main tipping thread, Senorita also placed @ 4/1. Really would like my main bet, Drifting Gold, to win at Windsor in an hour or so. Into 11/2 from the 10's I got at 9am so I could even bail out and lay it back, I might just do that :D

Sorry mate, end of term and its manic this time of year with reports going out etc. We welcome everyones feedback / ideas of how to go about running this tipping challenge.

Well I am back with some thoughts, glad to see finally we have had some rain here !

Anyway fairly random ideas/thought:

 

1) The challenge to be held on a monthly basis and for the sake of keeping it easier to follow a new challenge/thread each month. Overall winner at end of the year.

2) Clearly free for anyone to join and simply posting your first tip(s) means you are automatically in.

3) All bets to be win or ew singles only and settled at SP, I'm definitely sure from experience we really don't want to allow forecasts, accas etc; A bit of a chore to settle.

4) In order to be eligible to win you must post a minimum of say 5 tips in any month.

5) Everyone to be allowed a NAP And NB best each day, not compulsory to have both but NAP to say count 2/3 points, NB 1. Clearly NAP has to be win only , 0.5 ew for NB if applicable.

 

 

I'm happy to volunteer to settle the bets though clearly if I'm away then anyone can do it, the ongoing "table" is clearly going to be posted on here though suggestions for a user friendly format etc; are particularly welcome.

That's me done for now and in KISS mode too purely for Frankie's benefit :D

Hatch has obviously answered the 1st question, nb I have always assumed stands for next best (bet) though I stand to be corrected on that. The origins of NAP and nb are both pretty obscure it seems to me so I decided a long time ago and in the absence of anything definite to go on NAP meant Not A Problem ! Again if anyone knows for sure please let me know though in terms of this subject:

 

NAP = your best bet

nb = your next best bet

 

For the final question I could answer but not politely so I decline to comment.

Open for debate but having your NAP as an ew nb bet as well might be declared void and albeit inadvertently you have posed yet another question rather than contributing to the discussion which as above you clearly haven't read. Now don't post on this thread again until you have bl**dy well read it:D

Do you think we should have a max number of bets for each person each day as well, or just let it go?

For the sake of clarity I think a new thread/title is needed specifying horse racing tips challenge. Thus people who want a tipping challenge including all sports are free to start a thread specifically for that.

As mentioned 2 tips per day, NAP and nb ? Otherwise it gets really messy.
