Hamilton Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 (edited) Uruguay at full-strength. Suarez back from suspension. Germany is decimated by injury and flu: Lahm, Podolsky, and Klose are out. Mueller is back from suspension. Uruguay have the chance now to steal third place, but I still rekon Germany will get it. Thoughts? Edited 10 July, 2010 by Hamilton Saint
Gorgiesaint Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Neuer is also on the bench - the reserve goalie also has flu so Hans-Jorg Butt in goal for the Germans tonight. Depends how up for it the Germans are, anything less than 100% and I could see Uruguay snatching this.
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Author Posted 10 July, 2010 Good opening comment from the commentator -"these are two teams that have richly entertained us over the last few weeks."
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Author Posted 10 July, 2010 1-0. Germany take the lead after about 20 mins. Mueller scores his fifth goal of the tournament with a rebound shot off a Scweinsteiger long-range shot that the 'keeper could only parry.
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Author Posted 10 July, 2010 1-1. On the half-hour an excellent counter-attack by Uruguay leads to goal by Cavani.
Bushey Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Enjoyable game so far but I am getting tired of the ceaseless snide remarks about Saurez by the commentator - in the same circumstances I wonder what reaction there would have been to (say) Rooney palming the ball of the line, then celebrating when Gyan missed the penalty?
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Author Posted 10 July, 2010 Excellent volley shot from Forlan (at an awkward angle) on 51 mins. gives Uruguay a 2-1 lead. Forlan now has five goals.
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Author Posted 10 July, 2010 3-2 for Germany. Headed goal from Khedira at 82 mins. Is that it?
Hamilton Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Author Posted 10 July, 2010 Germany wins 3-2. Good game - entertaining and played with a good spirit.
Micky Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Muted celebrations here in Germany - I think they really thought they were in for a shot at the big one. That said, a fairly young team that did very well all told.
DS Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Enjoyable game- shame that Klose wasn't able to be involved to try and equal Ronaldo's record in what will surely be his last World Cup. I might stick a tenner on Germany to win Euro 2012.
