CB Saint Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 I have discovered two wasps nests in the eaves. Does anyone know of a good company that can deal with them?
Gemmel Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 I think the council will do it for free, but not 100% sure
trousers Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 We just used rentokil to get rid of two nests. £89 quid. All very efficient.
bridge too far Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 I suppose it depends on the local council, but certainly up here we can get them removed for free.
The boy done well Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Don't know where you are located but we had 2 nests dealt with this week by Ringwood Pest Control at a cost of £47 for the 1st and £10 for the 2nd. Tel 01425 474111 or 07729 496536. Good service. Nice chap that attended. We have used them before too.
JustMike Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 i had a huge one attached to my hanging basket 2 weeks ago. the council will do it for around £40, cheaper than any private firms.
Johnny Bognor Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Had one last year that Chichester Council dealt with for about £75 This year the wasps are literally eating my teak garden table. They basically move backwards two or three inches chewing the wood as they go leaving scratch marks on it. I guess they use this to build their nest which must be nearby.
suewhistle Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Ask a chub angler to come and get them: wasp grubs are a great bait for chub!
ivangolac Posted 10 July, 2010 Posted 10 July, 2010 Wrap some ant powder in clingfilm and make a bomb about the size of a golf ball . Throw said ball at entrance to nest and run. A direct hit will kill the nest. If this fails pay an expert.
Dog Posted 11 July, 2010 Posted 11 July, 2010 Stick a doughnut up the entrance hole and spray the nest with diesel, they will get all greasy and sugary causing them massive flight restrictions. To add to the effect burn some toast in the same room as the wasp nest, they will panic and think 'arson attack' causing mass suicide in waspville. Failing that, get a european hornet and unleash him on the nest. Please let me know which option you take?
rpb Posted 11 July, 2010 Posted 11 July, 2010 I don't know if they still have the same policy but twenty years ago Southampton CC would remove wasp nests for free for students but make a charge for anyone else - when I enquired I was told to hang up and get my daughter to phone.
