Dont go out in town much these days but when i did used to go Lizard Lounge, Orange Rooms when it opened then Rhino. Always thought Yates and those sort of places were ****. Going back the Frog and Frigate was a decent night out and also had a few good nights in Simons Wine Bar as an 18 year old trying to pull a 30+ bit of snatch. What places do you c**** rate?

New Yorks and Mccluskys where pretty ****ing dire but can't fault somewhere you could get into at 16.

My college days where filled with Lennons, So:bar, Hobbit, Varsity, Avondale etc, mainly nights in Lennons, was pretty decent - gone to **** now.

Brannigans was good before it closed down, three drinks for a fiver i think only downside was it's size, far too big.

Now a days I don't really rate any of my nightsout, prefer just to sit in a pub somewhere and be miserable.

Slutskies always lived up to its billing! Remember Schooners and JFK's? Used to go there a fair bit in my yoof too. Ralph Lauren shirts, centre partings and kickers!

Pikon was amazing on a thurs back in the day, nowadays i only really venture into town on special occasions as i just don't get it any more, it's ok for once a month. Went to Oceana a little while back, that was ok, but seeing as i am now attached there aint no need to dance around like a c*nt so i prefer going to a few bars, having a few drinks and a few laughs. Square balloon was also ok, but the one time you managed to get served you had to buy about 27 pints to last you till you next got served.

90 Degrees is ok, Vodka Revs is usually pretty good and always have a decent amount of eye candy, i used to like going into Seymours but these days it's over crowded and the bouncers don't like us much as we had a punch up with them a while back. Ice house is good, if you can put up with the tw*ts behind the bar.

McCluskys, New Yorks, Schooners. I worked at JFK's and Simons Wine Bar. Used to love going to the restaurant on the front of Ocean Village - can't remember what it was called???

I know where you mean, Los Marinos?? used to be full of fit older women in the summer, top place :-)

I remember going in The Beach in Ocean Village once, the fact i remember it is not a good sign!

And they had that Way out West place too. God that sucked. But seeing wasted people fly off of that mechanical bull thing in there was quite funny! Health and Safety probably wouldn't let drunk people on something like that these day's!

yeah, the beach..what a crap place that was...way out west too...

Schooners I remember and Los Marinos was full of 30-something year olds trying to bad themselves a footballer or something....proper pretentious...lol

old orientals..? not bad

dune - city of sound...lol...terrible, if you want to go to places like that, go to proper raves/venues

Rhino was ok, but very picky on who they let in...

went to Burbanks once for a college party....was ok...

We're talking about places in town and if you were into proper 90's house it was better than the run of the mill venues with ****ish bouncers and comercial tunes. Of course it wasn't a patch on good clubs outside Soouthampton, but they were always hit and miss. 50% of trips to "top clubs" always seemed to be a let down. Cream up in Liverpool was OK but in line with my luck it got raided the night we went cue everyone necking their contraband lol.

Aggie Grays - and if you hadn't managed to pull there, across the road to the Kaos Club where it was a nailed on certainty you would. Happy days.

Kaos, now that's a blast from the past. What a dive that was.

Aggie Grays, wasnt that a gay bar/club?

Top Rank, The Pier, Old Oriental, Dog and Duck, Raffles, New Yorks, the one that was by or near where Margharitas is cant think of its name. What was the one underneath Dog and Duck? or was it all D&D? Ah the memories!

Not really a clubbing fan but from my era the Top Rank, Royal Pier and Fridays. Top Rank could get a bit a lively in those days and remember chairs, glasses etc being thrown from the top balcony on to the dance floor; absolute mayhem. Also a little more recent (maybe late 70's early 80's) vaguely remember Floaters - the old floating bridge converted in to a night spot.

It was a few years back - 20 odd years ago it was a student haunt

The best place round here was the Manor in Verwood, had some top nights in the 96-99, sadly shut down, cant remember why.

For me the Rhino takes some beating for town though, as someone mentoned they were fussy about who they let in, rightly so too IMO, had a good little scene going on there 99-01 and was in there most weekends.

Whenever a new place in town it opens, the clientele is superb for the first 4-6 weeks. And then, almost without warning, the c**ts banned from everywhere else in town normally materialise and it steadily goes down hill from there.

Haven't been out to town since I've been back in the UK and I don't really want to, either. Either top of town with the pretentious ****wits or down the bottom with the knuckle draggers.

Nah, give me a few drinks, a nice meal and chat with a few friends at Prezzo, Ports Solent any day!

The Superclubs took over. That place was awesome.

Think it got turned into flats/houses.

The Manor I agree was awesome had many a night there when i was in my mid/late twenties

The memories.....Danny Rampling as the sat night resident, Sunday nights when there was a bank holiday.

It worked because it was off the beat and track had no beer monsters those that went made the effort.
