As the old saying goes 'never change a winning team'

So IMO Jan should play the same starting 11 again baring injuries. John and Spiderman look like they will be out for tuesday so i would have:

Davis

James, Lancashire, Perry, Mills

Lallana, Wotton, Cork, Surman

McGoldrick, Pekhart

Subs: Forecast, Svennson (if fit), Skacel (if fit), BWP, White

Of cause if John or Schniederlin are fit then put them straight back in in place of Pekhart or Wotton respectively.

Probably better to give him a reserve game or two first rather than throwing him to into the deep end. Some players thrive on that pressure of cause but others can freeze up like White did against Blackpool.

Then why have you changed the formation?

We didn't play 442 against Doncaster

It said we did on the OS:

"Stern John made his first League start since the Birmingham match at St. Mary's with McGoldrick up-front in a 4-4-2 formation."

I dont want to start an entirely new thread on this so ill tack it onto this one but when did we get solid red socks and shorts for our kit? I thought we had a solid grey 'flint' colour for our away kit. Looks nice though mind, reminds me a little of the home top with red shirts we had for the 6-0 win at wolves.

Assuming John and Schneiderlin are out... I reckon jan will go for...

-----------------Davis

James-------Perry-------Lancashire----Mills

-----------Wotton-------Cork

----------------McGoldrick

-Lallana----------Pekhart-------Surman

But then you've changed a winning team haven't you.

The defence for the first 66 minutes had Wotton and Lancashire as the central pair. Svensson needs to be put out to grass.

James must be replaced for me. He is not good enough. Only Cork appears to be able to provide cover though which is a shame as he played well in midfield.

Davis

Cork Lancashire Wotton Fish

Lallana Gillet Schneiderlin Surman

John Pekhart

Don't think he will be though.

what is his injury? I remember him coming off worse in an ugly 50:50 but he managed to continue to the end of the game.

Bit harsh on Killer considering the effort he's put in to return to play for Saints. It's a long hard season and Saints need all the experience available to survive in this league so i would'nt write him of just yet.

Southampton striker Stern John is likely to miss out after sustaining a hamstring injury against Doncaster.

Midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin (hamstring) is also a doubt, but captain Michael Svensson could feature.

Judging from this on the BBC web site..who seem to get a fairly accurate picture I think it will be as follows:

............Davies...............

James..Perry/Lancs/Killer.....Mills

.....Cork....Wooton.......

Lallana.... McG......Surman

.........Pecker..............

Lancashire + an other at CB. Not a bad side against another youthful footballing side. Should be a good game and I have a good feeling for this one. So 3-0 the Saints...you heard it here first!

I don't think James is suitable for right back, he'd be better in the holding midfield role along side Wotton imo. An experienced head to look out for him and recover any lost possession etc.

The same goes for Lancashire + Perry, there was not enough experience in central defence against QPR when Lancashire played last time, so playing him alongside Perry could form a great partnership.

----------Davis----------

Cork--L'shire--Perry--Mills

-----Wotton--James-----

Lallana------------Surman

--------DMG-------------

-------------Pekhart-----

Subs: Bart, Killer (if fit), Skacel, Gillett, Robertson (if fit)

Assuming Gillett, Schneiderlin, Svensson and Stern all miss out, then I'd go for the following . . .

---------------------- Davis --------------------

James ------ Lancashire ---- Perry ---------- Mills

-------------- Wotton ----- Cork ----------------

McGoldrick ---------- Lallana ------------- Surman

-------------------- Pekhart ---------------------

Subs:

Forecast, Davies, Thomson, BWP and Robertson

Our away kit clashed with Rovers home kit so I'd assume they'd have changed it for that. The 0-6 win at Wolves was similar and, if I remember correctly, they used an old training set of shorts and socks. Maybe they did the same last Saturday?
