Received a flyer in the post with my season ticket detailing this.

Do we as fans anticipate any problems with this? I wonder who drove this. Saints no longer wanting to fund a police operation to close the roads or Hampshire Constabulary?

I suspect that in the current climate police charges are likely to be considerably hiked. It seems to to me that the club is looking at all areas where savings can be made or additional revenue generated, the exception being in investment to the playing squad/training facilities. Leaving the road open may delay getting back to the city centre by a couple of minutes. I'll live with that with a successful football side.

So instead of allowing an orderly flow of pedestrians to cross what is a very busy dual carriageway it'll be jaywalking en masse. Not a very clever move, and i'm sure the decision will be reversed after the first death.

Well it will be better for non football traffic away from the ground but unless there are changes made to the amount of cars allowed out by the traffic lights (something like 4 !) from britannia and princes road its going to be a total nightmare for those that park close to the ground.

Jesus! Thats going to be mental. The bridge over the railway will be rammed for a lot longer too I imagine.

Expect to see the Kingsland codgers leaving 10 minutes earlier i.e 20 minutes before fulltime.

I would say the vast majority of fans either go right at the bridge and head towards Northam bridge on the pavement, or go left and disperse towards St Mary st. People only walk in the road now because they can. There's also the subways taking you under the road if need be as well. Has always been overkill shutting the road.

The club don't pay for the road closure, it comes out of the Police budget.

It will be dangerous letting everyone cross when they feel like it, but then the road isn't closed before the games.

This is what I was wondering, who is liable for the police bill. Clearly the club have to pay for police inside and surrounding the stadium (i.e. on club property) but surely they're not liable for crowds of people that aren't actually on their property (otherwise where would the jurisdiction end?). So perhaps a cost cutting trial by the police rather than by the club?

SO away supporters coaches will sit at the Britainia Road Lights and go out 2 at a time, then sit in queues all the way through Bitterne to the M27, rather than having a clear run.

Exactly...and with Kev by our sides we can do this...
