Wildgoose Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 That seems as good as a new signing to be honest. If he stays fit, he'll be great for us
lordswoodsaints Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Good news.....and he didn't use an agent, which is a good sign.
saints triumph Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 For 1 season, thats got to be good can't risk more than that with his injury record. Hope he can improve on his 20 appearences last seson as our results were better when he was involved. Still need another striker though.
Painswick Saint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Good news. Just a bit worried about his long term groin injury . If he stays fit he will be a really good striking option this coming season. Stiil think we need another forward, though
trousers Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Who carried out his medical given we don't have a doctor at the moment? Yay. First in with a dig. Go Trousers.
Badger Posted 6 July, 2010 Author Posted 6 July, 2010 Good news. Just a bit worried about his long term groin injury . If he stays fit he will be a really good striking option this coming season. Stiil think we need another forward, though I agree, nice to see there are saints fans in Gloucestershire as well as myself!!!
JustMike Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 good times. a fully fit DC will score for fun, a half fit DC will do a job too ;-)
trousers Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 No quote from Pardew I notice. Yay, second dig in quick succession. I'm getting good at this negativity malarkey!
sainttomski Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 fingers crossed he can stay injury free, really happy he is staying
MadDogMatt Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 not only no quote from Pards but no mention of him by DC either just the Chairman. This is beginning to seema bit strange
MadDogMatt Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 well worth having as an impact player on the bench this no Pardew comment or indeed mention from DC is beginning to seem a bit strange!
Ponty Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 It's not that odd, really. I doubt that Pardew sorts out the contracts. I imagine AP and NC's relationship to be one where AP identifies who he wants to sign and NC goes away and thrashes out the deal.
doggface Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Good news, hopefully he will be fit for most of our games with a pre season under his belt - could be invaluable. Don't forget both papa & Antonio were used upfront so we need more depth up top.
John D Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Good news. Class player. Agreed. He was class above when he can on against Oldham and the Norwich goal was a peach. Just need few more coming in and we will be there
Glasgow_Saint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Nananananananana David Connolly, Connolly, David Connolly. Nananananananana Repeat x10
West End Saint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Good news top quality player and our other strikers can learn from his finishing and movement sounds like he wants to get in to coaching. I can see him coming on as a impact sub I reckon he will get 10 to 15 goals next season.
miserableoldgit Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Radio Solent, who this morning reported this as a "Radio Solent Exclusive" also said that AP is targetting "a Ricky Lambert type" striker and a RB.
trousers Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Radio Solent, who this morning reported this as a "Radio Solent Exclusive" also said that AP is targetting "a Ricky Lambert type" striker and a RB. Did the radio signal cut out at the point where they said AP is also targetting an engine room style link player in midfield....?
Toomer Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Radio Solent, who this morning reported this as a "Radio Solent Exclusive" also said that AP is targetting "a Ricky Lambert type" striker and a RB. Now let the speculation begin, DC will be a good player to come off the bench and change the game when things are a bit tight.
miserableoldgit Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Did the radio signal cut out at the point where they said AP is also targetting an engine room style link player in midfield....? I think not, but it was Solent and they are not always right - are they??
dubai_phil Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Did the radio signal cut out at the point where they said AP is also targetting an engine room style link player in midfield....? Why would they? We've still got Paul Wotton on the bench. See - I can do it too :
dubai_phil Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Now let the speculation begin, DC will be a good player to come off the bench and change the game when things are a bit tight. oh c'mon, we all know who it is, we need cover for Rickie. We all know Rickie should have gone to the WC with England so obviously we'll get Heskey as cover on a season long loan
Turkish Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 oh c'mon, we all know who it is, we need cover for Rickie. We all know Rickie should have gone to the WC with England so obviously we'll get Heskey as cover on a season long loan HOw about Klose? He's had a good world cup, he'd be an asset to come for the last 20.
Saint_Jonny Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 looked different class against oldham and walsall last reason, capable of some deadly finishing. Good news for sure!
Toomer Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 oh c'mon, we all know who it is, we need cover for Rickie. We all know Rickie should have gone to the WC with England so obviously we'll get Heskey as cover on a season long loan Tea and keyboard moment Phil!!!!!!!
alpine_saint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 That seems as good as a new signing to be honest. If he stays fit, he'll be great for us Excellent news, and agree with your sentiments.
Minsk Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Why would they? We've still got Paul Wotton on the bench. See - I can do it too : And don't forget we also have Pulis in reserve. Great news that DC has signed for another year.
saintjay77 Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 HOw about Klose? He's had a good world cup, he'd be an asset to come for the last 20. Wouldnt muller be a better punt? He is young so would fit into our ethic of building a team for the future.
SNSUN Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Sweet. Good news if he can stay fit. I still think we need one more striker, and I still think we should continue the policy of signing our rival's best players. Thus I'm going to hold my breath until Pards signs Jordan Rhodes. >
Thedelldays Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 "alot of good people here are being well led by the chairman" nice one dave..
Cabrone Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Good news, if he stays fit he'll score a load this season. I can see a super sub\rotation role with Lee Barnard.
alpine_saint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 "alot of good people here are being well led by the chairman" nice one dave.. Isnt this NC's equivalent of Lowe reading out a letter at the AGM ????
St.Patrik Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 I must admit that I really like the new pictures of the players - with the shirt in Colour and the rest in black/grey - looks really retro but still very cool.
VectisSaint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 oh c'mon, we all know who it is, we need cover for Rickie. We all know Rickie should have gone to the WC with England so obviously we'll get Heskey as cover on a season long loan As long as Ricky manages 90 minutes for 46 league games I would be happy with that.
WealdSaint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Hope he can stay fit. Goal against Norwich was class last season
VectisSaint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 (edited) This is good news, though not unexpected. Arguably when fit DC is our best player. Makes no difference to the need for a backup to RL, we all know RL and DC are completely different types of striker. Clear also that we have in place the 1st XI and some backups that mean we are as strong as last season (albeit with Harding playing RB), now we need to strengthen the squad in a couple of key areas (RB, CM & RL-type striker). Saint Fan CaM Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Great news - good to hear he's keen to stay and contribute.
Toadhall Saint Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Pleased with that - will be a lot happier when we get a right back and a ball playing MF'er.
St Marco Posted 6 July, 2010 Posted 6 July, 2010 Isnt this NC's equivalent of Lowe reading out a letter at the AGM ???? I imagine Cortese is the guy who sit's down and talks with the players about contracts and things of the financial side. I would find it more strange really if the manager was the guy negotiating the contracts. All i read from that is a guy basically saying thanks for giving him a new contract.
