Dave Benson Phillips Posted 5 July, 2010 Share Posted 5 July, 2010 DBP....where has it been said that when we get to the Premier League ticket prices will be £50 and Chelsea-esque? I would expect no more than £35 absolute top whack but honestly doubt it would go that high. You do like to voice your opinion in a manner which suggests fact. I'm sure it's deliberate and I'm sure you like the reaction you get. I will only bother to pick out the one bit. Our 'top whack' tickets are £28 per game now. There's a fact for you. Do you believe tickets will only go up £7 between now and the Prem?
stevegrant Posted 5 July, 2010 Share Posted 5 July, 2010 Come on Steve - what could the club possibly say? "Sorry, but we're not holding the TBT this year because we are worried the team are not up to a spanking"!?!?! Hardly motivating. We should sit back and wait to see what transpires perhaps before worrying too unduly. In the big picture of season preparation this really is small stuff IMO. I'm sure they could come out with something credible. After all, even stuff that's barely credible gets swallowed whole by many on here. Something like "Alan Pardew feels that a game against top European opposition would not provide the right style of opposition to enable the team to gel and hit the ground running in League One this season". Again, they could use the Reading game as the TBT game, there's nothing to say that they have to have Champions League opposition for it. Didn't we play West Ham in a TBT game a couple of years ago? But no, because SRS announced it, it must mean he is wrong. To be honest I wouldn't dream of spouting libel about them because they could ( and would as they have with other people ) threaten me with legal action. miserableoldgit Posted 5 July, 2010 Share Posted 5 July, 2010 I have no interest in Saints being in the Premiership. I know loads of people that feel the same. You honestly seem to think that the only type of supporter is one that wants to pay whatever it takes for Saints to challenge in the Premiership? If the costs are too high, the majority supporters won't turn up. That is a fact. In the prem to some extent they may be replace by corporate customers, neutrals, away supporters or PAYG fans. Why are P*mpey going to end up with more season ticket holders this year than they did last year in the Premiership? Why will they probably have a higher attendances? Answer - Because their prices are realistic again now and there is more value for money in the CCC Listen pal, I am saying that there is many different types of supporter. Are you telling me there is only one? Have you had some sort of "Road to Damascus " moment Dave/Stu? In the 550 -ish posts that you have posted in the 3 weeks since you joined, you have spent most of your time telling those who didn`t agree with your opinions on Cortese that you were right, they were wrong and to wake up and smell the coffee. Ok..here goes...I'll try and put it as simply as possible for you......... Top whack ticket is £25....I doubt you'll want to sit in the centre so it "only" £22...thats a saving of £3 already!!! Anyway, the economics as you put it are simple. If travelling to SMS to purchase your ticket for the first game is your "only" reason for going into town, then if it cost you more than £3 purchase by phone or internet initially. Ideally purchase a few at the same time......a bit like an installment plan. Then, subsequent purchases can be made when you attend a game meaning that any "additional cost" in getting to the game is already accounted for because you were going anyway. Continuimg this method of purchasing over the season means that at most you will incur £3 "tax" for the whole season. Now apparently my math is not upto much but I make that a very tiny bit over 13pence per league game. Bring into play any Cup games and the exhorbatant tax you despise goes down.........
