Gorgiesaint Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Really looking forward to this one, both teams are good going forward & both have defences that have weaknesses. Have to say Argentina start as favourites for me.
chrisobee Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Argentina for me 3-1, Messi will prove too good for the Germans.

Thedelldays Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 argentina simply have far too much attacking power...and they will litterally run through a brick wall for their "god" maradona 2-1 argies
ohwhenthesaints Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Should be an absolute cracker given the way both teams play. Messi to get his first goal(s) of the tournament today in an Argentina victory.
latter day saint Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Messi should be able to turn Mertersacker (sp?) inside out & upside down with his runs! hope it lives up to the hype.
Hatch Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 1-0 to Jerry, I still fancy the Argies though. Probably a couple of sending offs as well.
chrisobee Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Could easily have been 2-0 but Messi looks in the mood. Argentina gradually getting into the game, unusually slow start by them.
chrisobee Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Can't believe it's only 1-0 at HT. More goals to come I'm sure.

St Landrew Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 lol, indeed. Hopefully some perspective can now be restored. If you mean, re England, mate, Germany have played better against Argentina than they did against England, IMO. Although, I've only been watching since the 35th minute or so. chrisobee Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Ok, only Spain left to support now. Don't want Paraguay, Uruguay, Holland or Germany to win. Still at least England managed 2 goals v Germany even if one of course was ridicously not given.
SuperMikey Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Germany have been by far and away the best team in the tournament, they will win it imo. However, it depends what team wins the other QF today, if Paraguay go through then Germany will cruise through, but if Spain win and decide to turn on the style, then it could be a tricky one. Spain v Germany would certainly be a tasty game. I expect Spain to win but just about every team I have wanted/expected to win since the knockout stage began have lost I hope Torres can find his form/fitness. St Landrew Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 IMO Argentina were on top for most of the 2nd half but like England have been chasing the game. Germans very good on the break. The Germans play so intelligently though, don't they..? I can't fault them. They get so many players into the right positions at the right time, and know instinctively when to press, when to play simple, when to be fast, when to slow the game down. 4-0. Lawrenson: This is counter attacking football at its best.

Ponty Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 Anyone find it odd that the South American teams looked mighty in the groups but they're dropping like flies now? Uruguay only through because of that penalty miss and Paraguay (seemingly) unlikely to get past Spain... It's looking increasingly like an all European final. Not what most of us would have predicted.
chrisobee Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 defender slid in and he stamped on his leg..no diff to rooney against portugal the other year. intent Probably no difference at all, Rooney never deserved to be sent off having been fouled numerous times before apparently committing a foul which even in slow motion is far from clear. What is clear is that Portugal were the main protagonists and then harangued the ref to send Rooney off. Shameful. I'll reserve judgement on the apparent Messi foul until I have actually seen it. alpine_saint Posted 3 July, 2010 Share Posted 3 July, 2010 What have Rooney, Kaka, Messi and Ronaldo all got in common ? They've all been officially sh*te at this WC, though I would still argue that Rooney is in a class of his own.
