Saint_clark Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 Probably just referring to all the renovation work going on around the stadium.

Golden Balls Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 Just a load of renvations to the stadium. Nothing to get excited about.
Mr Saints Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 The clown we employ as a pitch side announcer has been let go? Fingers crossed.
SnailOB Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 Cortese has converted the directors box and is building a huge throne so he can sit and gaze over his minions on match days whilst waving car parking passes, hospitality vouchers without legends names on and missing matchday programmes in a mocking manner.

So what do you think are the changes that are going to happen as I feel something big is brewing our way very soon and I can't wait. Backroom staff changes? Stadium news as they might of bought the gravel yard opposite? I am intrigued , but I will not get my hopes up for any thing major. It will probably end up being underwhelming news. Who post on here that works at the stadium? Can't you give us a little hint whether to be excited or underwhelmed?

Clifford Nelson Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 With such a deafening silence from the club (apart from signing a third left back and tinkering with catering facilities) it is tempting to think that something is going on. I certainly would be very disappointed to hear that nothing whatsoever has been going on behind the scenes apart from the bosses being on holiday.

Stadium news as they might of bought the gravel yard opposite? I can understand why the club want to be secretive about significant changes. Sudden announcements are sometimes really gobsmacking, especially when there's not so much as a sniff of an idea of what's coming. I can tell you that my jaw has never really recovered after hitting the floor when I heard Kevin Keegan was signing for Southampton. For the general public, there wasn't even the merest foetus of a hint of a rumour of what was going to happen until Lawrie announced it. Late the previous night he had been dogged by a journalist for so long and so closely, who just had an instinct that something was up, that he finally answered the question to... Come on Lawrie, tell me, who are you signing..? To which Lawrie, who had been bursting to utter something for days, said... KK and then got into his car and left. Late that night, in bed, the journalist suddenly sat up in bed and shouted... I've got it... it's Kevin Keelan..! [the Norwich City goalkeeper]. Even though he'd been given a great clue to the news, he obviously couldn't believe it, to consider it. If Nicola Cortese likes to pull stunts like Lawrie did, then I'm all for it.
paulwantsapint Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 Breaking news is that due to Rickie Lambert going on a MLT style crash diet he can confirm that the burgers at SMS taste great & AP has told him if he can score 45 goals in our unbeaten season he will be allowed to sample the pies next may

aintforever Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 If there was a big positive announcement, like a KK type signing, it would certainly go a long way to explaining the bizarre policy on ST sales.

I agree with the point you make and if it was something like that then yes it would be OTT. However if it is something more serious i.e. a significant signing or something affecting the aqausition of land close to St. Marys then this should be confidential until all the T's are crossed and all the I's dotted.....loose tongues are the downfall of many a major deal once another interested party gets to find out!!
aintforever Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 If it's not bull****, "major changes" does not really imply a major signing. Anyway the vast majority of staff at SMS only find out about major signings pretty much along with everyone else. I'm guessing a ground redevelopment.

dubai_phil Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 They've probably bought the Industrial Estate from The Coal Board Pension plan or who ever it is and in 2011/12 you will be able to have an installment plan for your season tickets as all the apartments they will build there to pay for the Jacksons Farm Superdome will come with a free ST. Or we've signed our missing extra CM (we got him as we were the only club to offer to play him in the middle) GoldenBalls Oh, & I'm with St Landrew on the "If it's big keep it queit" approach, that moment in the press conference when KK signed was a real fall off the chair one

IMO it will be announced we are redeveloping the whole area around SMS including increased capacity, remember in the original takeover thread, how a swiss guy wanted to redevelop the whole water front and have Saints and SMS at the heart of it? i think there might have been some truth in it, NC has been talking aout improving road networks etc, I might be a million trees over from barking up the right one but it keeps nagging at the back of my mind
Pilchards Posted 3 July, 2010 Author Posted 3 July, 2010 My new guess is a sponsor with a network link. If staff know about it then it would rule out a player/coach. Perhaps something in the stadium is happening now which Cortese can't hide.
Pilchards Posted 3 July, 2010 Author Posted 3 July, 2010 It can't be that as it's not even a major change.

sandwichsaint Posted 3 July, 2010 Posted 3 July, 2010 Red and White striped away shirt? Black and white striped home shirt sponsored by ZEBRA finance? Relocation to Basingstoke and renamed the Southern Saints? Instalment plan for pie purchasing? RL co-opted onto the board to 'rebuild relationships with fans'? Pay toilets installed at SMS? Swipe-card, fast-track system introduced to avoid queueing over the bridge after games? Don't come moaning to me when all these come to pass.....
