Suites Re-named

Recommended Posts

I have said for sometime we should have a statue of MLT next to the Players Entrance - or even a bust - with 'LOYALTY' on the plinth.

to be fair...just being happy with just a room named after our greatest player is an insult in itself

IMO, Ted should have Lawrie mac and MLT either side of him at the front of the stadium...the 3 men that have defined this club...

I can see both sides...but at the end of the day..they are rooms...that is it..

if people are getting upset that we COULD be changing the names of a room that (im guessing here) hardly any of us use...then that is a tad OTT imo

if we REALLY cared about remembering our greats..where are the campaigns to get the stands renamed after them..? hell, why not change the name of the ground or campaign for a statue of MLT...???

Once again, because you are too simple to see the 10 times or so I have already explained on here.

It's not about this one individual thing, which on it's own is a relatively minor OG by Cortese.

Add that to...

Banning Benali from SMS

Having pops at various Southampton legends

Le Tissier feeling he can no longer visit SMS due to Cortese

Ambassadors Club being withdrawn.

ex-Saints players not being invited to the club as guests.

Apparant withdrawal of the Ted Bates Trophy match ( I know they could just do their consistent late announcement, if they don't have one it will be a disgrace in my opinion )

Etc etc etc , then all of a sudden, the attitude of the club towards it's history becomes a bit more of an issue.

OK... To be fair, I said MOST points are minor:

The lack of instalment plan very nearly stopped me and several friends renewing our STs, we were lucky enough to get around it but I agree that this is not a minor issue if it has prevented you renewing. In fact it is about as major as you can get.

If the car parking has doubled perhaps it will encourage people to car share, use park and rides, or public transport which will help reduce their costs and environmental impact. A minor pain but not difficult to work around surely? (I don't use the car parking but I know people that do and none have them have moaned to me...)

The 2 game pre-season tour / training camp was always likely to be around these dates, most places I have worked would have let me provisionally book some time off with flexibility in it. Agreed it is late notice but I reckon flights and accommodation will be pretty easy to sort out - may even work out cheaper on a last minute deal? Maybe the club didn't want to release details until everything was firmed up? After all, if they drip fed bits of information I'm sure some people would only think that would be a highly unprofessional way to release information? (no-win situation to me there...)

My point is this: NC is still new at running a football club. He is learning his trade. Sure, like almost all highly successful business men, he can come across extremely arrogant - does this make him the devil? No. Does this mean he is deliberately trying to alienate the fan base (by far his largest stakeholder group)? No. Is he trying to erase the history of the club? No. Is he an expert in PR? No!

I am willing to give the guy a chance though, after all, he has done a lot of good in terms of improving the infrastructure of the club from staff to facilities and most importantly on the pitch.

I am able to see things from other people points of view. I tried to construct a sensible reply, hopefully this gives you the balance of my opinion. Just because it is not the same as your vitriolic drum bashing doesn't make it wrong. Maybe you should take heed to your own exasperations around looking at things from other people perspectives?

stu, you ask why people dont debate with you..then you say someone is "simple" for the reason they dont agree with you

go on stu, do something about it...some how, I dont think you will

Do what?

You call the club they don't return your call.

You email the club they don't return your email.

You email the club again they write and say we are not talking about it.

You tell the Echo who phone the club who don't return their call.

This is a forum Dulldays. To discuss things, you just have more of an obsession with me than the subjects in hand. Are you honestly telling me that, looking at the list I posted above, that the club is treating our history with disrespect?

I would say it's pretty bloody obvious unless you are wearing Cortese tinted shades.

the guy from the echo posts on here quite a bit...im sure he is part of your circle of saints mates...get in the paper instead of complaining when someone else is..

do something..you clearly think NC is a **** or at best, making grave mistakes...do something to highlight this on a more wider level...

Exactly, how anyone can say that it's not important when the deliberate late removal of an established paying facility has prevented fans from being able to renew is beyond me

If the car parking has doubled perhaps it will encourage people to car share, use park and rides, or public transport which will help reduce their costs and environmental impact. It doesn't matter whatever way you dress it up, there are many reasons people use it ( children, hard of walking etc ) , doesn't affect me but I would be p!ssed off if it did

We are not going to the Costa Del Sol on a package holiday, the longer you leave it, the more expensive the flights get. You are lucky if you have that facility to block book at late notice, I cannot do that as it has to tie in with other staff etc. All they had to do is say " We will be in Northern Switzerland ( or wherever ) from 8th to 18th July, we intend on playing friendly matches, dats and venue TBC , the club have been asked for months by various people, it would have been obvious to the club people were relying on the information

No!

What he needs to do is do his job, and let the senior management at the club he employs, do theirs.

I am willing to give the guy a chance though, after all, he has done a lot of good in terms of improving the infrastructure of the club from staff to facilities and most importantly on the pitch.

I can see other people differences, I appreciate that there are 2 groups of fans, the " success at any cost " fan and the " football first " fan, I am in the 'football first' group. I am not bothered about the Premiership, football is a day out with mates and the chance to follow your team with thousands of other like-minded people, I just want both myself and the history of my club to be treated with the respect it deserves.

There.

Just because they are re-named does not mean our history is lost, the club is clearly proud of its history, look at the new shirt and the MONEY going into the club.

I actually like the names the club is more than one player and this does not mean there photos have been takern of the wall.

I love the club and could not be happier with EVERYTHING that happens now, I was a fan of Leon Crouch before but this is a new level in regards to running a club and I love it.

PS If you can only get a season ticket paying off every month and dont want a credit card then maybe you should not get a season ticket and go when you can, this does not make you a worse fan.

Please stop the doom and gloom, I and everyone I know who love the club cant understand it and am more than happy with how it is, just a bit fed up as its these fans that usually feel they are talking on behalf of everyone when they dont.

Err... I don't fancy getting in the paper and the Echo do not fancy another lawsuit landing at their doorstep... which could explain why they have been quiet.

You are boring, I am off to wash the car.

Sometimes the most fickle things can end up with threats of legal action from our illustrious leader.

I will leave you to make your own mind up as why the Southampton crest has dissapeared from Daily Echo website and replaced with a Daily Echo mock-up.

1) why was Benali banned? (and is it def true?)

2) what "pops" did he say about legends? All I remember is saying similar to many on here about MLT and the takeover causing delays last season, and that about people commenting on rumours.

3) Is this true? Certainly attended last season.

4) Is this true? This thread seems to go around in circles

5) think its good that legends are welcomed back but don't particluar feel that every ex-player should automatically get loads of free tickets

Although you haven't included it this time do agree about installment plan and more encouragement for season tickets sales.

I have answered the first 4 questions before, they are all true, you will have to ask Franny why he was kicked out of SMS, I have been told Cortese was renting his house so might have been a dispute, who knows. All are true.

With regards to legends, yes they shouldn't get blocks of free tickets all the time but the ambassadors club was a great idea, a way of recognising the ex-saints whilst adding value to a product the club was trying to sell. Great bit of marketing and PR by whoever set it up ( I think it was Crouch )

ok. But MLT did go last season and I (obsessive saints news reader) haven't seen NC insult any legends.

Le Tissier was only there on official business ( Sky ) in the second half of the season and not once as a guest. Source - My contact who I go in the MLT Suite with.

And I said pops. He was making pops at people like Lawrie Mac, degrading them simply as commentators etc, when infact Mac probably knows more about running a football club in his little finger than Cortese.

God, we need the season to start!

You tried to say Matt was there last season. He hasn't been there for months... because he can't get on with Cortese.

He rubbished Matt and Mac and Keegan as 'commentators' , petty little digs.

FACT?

That's the problem Nick, yourself and others jump on a thread and say things are wrong and rubbish and leap to the defence of Cortese, and when you are found out to be wrong, you just ignore it, don't acknowledge it and move on.

Dulldays is the worse for that, but you're not far behind.

"FACT" that it s the level of debate of a 12 year old. Try and stay calm.

Read my posts on this thread - hardly leaping to his defence, mainly trying to understand who is right?!

I haven't been found out to be wrong on what I said just because you post - you are wrong fact!

Have to say that I still find most of this stuff all very trivial, however I would like to know;

1. Is this pure autocracy on the part of NC, i.e. he took the decision(s) completely by himself, consulted nobody else and is solely responsible. FWIW, he himself may be against some or all of these moves, he might have argued against them, but been told to implement them by the owner.

2. Why all this vitriol against only NC, surely these decisions were agreed by the owner either way, yet he appears to come in for no critisism whatsoever.

If you really could see the differences, you would appreciate there are more than 2 'groups' of fans - this pretty much explains why debates end up being so polarised.

He did have a sly dig in the press, but nothing more. To be honest sometimes people deserve such treatment and it was pretty harmless to be honest. MLT took some pretty harsh critcism from some on here over his handling of the Pinnacle debacle - so the occasional 'slap on the wrist' or 'stern reminder' is hardly out of order really. Matt and Lawrie are both big lads - I'm sure that can look after themselves.

Pretty arrogant Stuey. If only life was so simple. Just because it feels to me like you've struck up a vendetta against NC, does not mean I want success at any cost, nor does it mean that you are the personification of the true football fan.

do not true if orginal post is true or not, but it will be a sad day if it is

my big fear for next season is that NC assumes because we did well it wil continue

antone who has watched saints over the last 50 years will tell you one good season does not guarantee the next will improve

The ML Executive suite would be nice.....A true Legend

The Cortese Lounge would be gratitude for all his hard work......Another Legend

The Leon Crouch Living Rooms for what he did for the club in our time of need.....Thank you Uncle Leon.....To many of us, utmost respect and always a legend...to TRUE Saints fans...

Woggies tea rooms ......For a man sorely missed.

The 'Fialka Urinals' ... throughout the stadium for taking the PIIISS.

If we could have these little matters in place before our signings this week..We can all get on with the matter in hand.
