NickG Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 did they annouce time and location before the other clubs involved?
buctootim Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 did they annouce time and location before the other clubs involved? STILL no update on their website!!. Its a disgrace, they treat their fans like ****. I'll never buy another pie, their chairman out etc...... http://www.fcsochaux.fr/en/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=1620&Itemid=106
John B Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/NewsDetail/0,,10280~2082520,00.html So probably some new players befor Wednesday next week
Master Bates Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Just image googled Interlaken, wish I was going.
stevegrant Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 12 days' notice before the first game, cracking for those of us who were planning on going Will investigate flights, trains, etc tonight, methinks.
holepuncture Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 FC Thun play in red (home) and white (away), so hopefully we should see the away kit by the 13th!
Smirking_Saint Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Nice work SFC, wish i was going, place looks amazing
Giordano Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Delighted with the venue. Looks first rate with two good oppos to play against. Gutted with the timing as will be in Thailand during the whole camp. Would certainly have made arrangements to get over there for the two games and a bit of swiss role/toblerone if id had more notice. Has sfc announced a travel service for fans who want to travel+support???? Never mind. Maybe next year SFC could give supporters a bit more notice. After all im sure the local sponsors are hoping that english supporters will come and drink their bars dry, fill there hotels and eat there restaurants out of fondue and cuckoo clock sets. Cant think of any other sterotypical ignorant brits abroad comment to make but im sure others will!
Arizona Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Just image googled Interlaken, wish I was going. I wonder how it got that name.
suewhistle Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Might do one or the other on my visit to the UK by car but can't afford both I don't think, hmm Thun is 3 hours drive from me.. I'b better get googling. Might be worth making a day and night of it.
Alejam Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Awaiting the usual suspects to rip this news apart, and moan like hell about it.
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 1 weeks notice. Nice one. On another note, didn't one of our ex players play for FC Thun? ( Tessem? )
buctootim Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 (edited) Can get flights with Easyjet from Gatwick to Geneva for about £100 at moment. Geneva is around three hours on train from Interlaken (change in Bern). Same kind of price to Zurich or around £115 with BA but only 2 hours on train. Edited 1 July, 2010 by buctootim
View From The Top Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 I'll have a mooch for flights for the Saturday game. Quite fancy a weekender.
suewhistle Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Be careful you go to the right stadium: their new one is being built and won't be ready until next year!
View From The Top Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Be careful you go to the right stadium: their new one is being built and won't be ready until next year! I think the clue is here: University Stadium St. Leonard in Fribourg
Gorgiesaint Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 (edited) did they annouce time and location before the other clubs involved? I had a quick glance at FC Thun's website & that game wasn't on the front page - they did show the 3 pre-season games that they have prior to playing us. Edit: Just checked their list of friendlies & it's not showing Edited 1 July, 2010 by Gorgiesaint
saint_stevo Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 not quite what i was hoping for from the twitter announcement
dune Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 This could've been a great pre - season tour if the club had given reasonable notice.
dune Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Venue for the game against FC Thun...looks good! Is that Dean Court with the tide in?
VectisSaint Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Venue for the game against FC Thun...looks good! Suspect this is not the correct ground. No way does that Lido hold 10300 snorkellers Still could be good training for the heavy pitches in the English winter rather than using our billiard table
Gorgiesaint Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Venue for the game against FC Thun...looks good! Can see why we got rid of Gillet & james now, they would have drowned in that midfield !
BARCELONASAINT Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Maybe they don't won't all the belly aching idiots that moan continously about every little thing on their tour!!
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Maybe they don't won't all the belly aching idiots that moan continously about every little thing on their tour!! I am not quite sure who is the biggest chopper. You or your son.
SuperMikey Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Odd timing definitely to release the fixtures. Reckon you'll see me down at the XI games against Basingstoke and Farnborough. Maybe we'll have a few trial players on show if the first team are off training in Switzerland...
krissyboy31 Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Venue for the game against FC Thun...looks good! Thought they said Interlaken not In the lake!!!
St Landrew Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 What a bloody lovely venue. Here's hoping all goes well and that we don't hear reports of players missing their wives. Oops sorry, for a moment I was thinking of the England team.
BARCELONASAINT Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 well we all know who is the biggest attention seeking queen on here!!!
Bailey Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 There you have it, all of our pre-season plans announced in one go now that everything has been confirmed and finalised. To those that do make the trip to Switzerland, enjoy it! The place looks amazing.

Gorgiesaint Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 I would have thought the details were known sometime ago which would have given fans more time to organise their trip I'm not sure. Reading the release on the OS and having looked at both other clubs websites, I suspect this might have originally been planned as training camp only (behind closed doors), and changed when they managed to sort out the friendlies. I say because, there was a poster who said that the date changed, this ties in with the hotel/resort keeping the booking open to accomodate us. Together with the fact that FC Sochaux's website only announced the friendly on Tuesday and still says time & venue to be decided, and FC Thun's website still does not have the game announced at all - all together suggests these games have been arranged late in the day. Of course, some may question why the plans changed fairly late or why the games were not organised earlier.

oxfordshire_saint Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Wish I could go, spent time around there last summer and it's breathtaking. Two decent friendlies and the fresh mountain air should be ideal preparation.
suewhistle Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 I think the clue is here: University Stadium St. Leonard in Fribourg I was talking about Thun.
alpine_saint Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 14 hours round trip in car. Bugger, was hoping it would be more this direction.
dune Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 14 hours round trip in car. Bugger, was hoping it would be more this direction. Don't do it, we want you on the match thread.
John Boy Saint Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Looks there will be full use of all the Subs during the game! well someone had to write it!!

st alex Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 All looks good, but from a supporter's perspective, too short notice. Think Man City are leading the way in how to organise a pre season tour, on their quite lovely website. http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/American-Pre-season-tour

Think Man City are leading the way in how to organise a pre season tour, on their quite lovely website. http://www.mcfc.co.uk/News/American-Pre-season-tour • Ticket price: £30 (concession prices do not apply) No thanks!
Matthew Le God Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 (edited) Interlaken has hosted Liverpool, the Swiss national team and now Saints. Here are two interesting links... 1) Liverpool at Interlaken 2) Training camps in Switzerland - Interlaken the 2nd camp featured http://www.travelclub.ch/files/2009_training_camps_ch.pdf Edited 1 July, 2010 by Matthew Le God
Arizona Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Ryanair fly to Milan Bergamo, which you could get to from Bristol or Stansted for about £100 return, including taxes etc. Bristol is somewhat limited on the dates, but Stansted goes 3 times a day. That's about 3 1/2 hours drive to Interlaken.
hamster Posted 1 July, 2010 Posted 1 July, 2010 Can't afford this but a good opportunity for Stu. Get to work Stu with this venue's guide to the travelling supporter via your new website. Did you use that software ever Stu, hope you found it useful.
