Legod Third Coming Posted 29 June, 2010 Posted 29 June, 2010 ...is a red wine from the McLaren Vale... I was in a restaurant in Chester, saw it on the menu and had to order it (explaining my rationale to the waiter "I once asked him to score from 20 yards and he did!" I said). If you see it and you like you red wines, buy it. It was superb.
Block 5 Posted 29 June, 2010 Posted 29 June, 2010 Definitely the most surreal thread in quite some time. Good work LTC. Red wine gives me a headache; so did shouting at Tommo.
suewhistle Posted 29 June, 2010 Posted 29 June, 2010 Shove in the dark in your cellar, lock the door and leave for two years: should be even more mature.
trousers Posted 29 June, 2010 Posted 29 June, 2010 I've visited the McClaren Vale region in 1981 and 1985. True story.
Ponty Posted 29 June, 2010 Posted 29 June, 2010 Shove in the dark in your cellar, lock the door and leave for two years: should be even more mature. I'm pretty sure his family would start to miss him before the 2 years were up.
Cestrian Saint Posted 30 June, 2010 Posted 30 June, 2010 I live in Chester. What resteraunt were you in? I'll have to check it out.
MINIBARCELONASAINT Posted 30 June, 2010 Posted 30 June, 2010 Isn't that what we did with our Wayne Thomas?
the saint in winchester Posted 30 June, 2010 Posted 30 June, 2010 My family live in Chester. What restaurant was it? Answer us, damn it!

Legod Third Coming Posted 30 June, 2010 Author Posted 30 June, 2010 Red wine matures well - so did Wayne Thomas. I think he would like it - big, bold and beautiful is how I would describe them both!
hughieslastminutegoal Posted 30 June, 2010 Posted 30 June, 2010 Red wine matures well - so did Wayne Thomas. The only similarity between WT and a good red wine is that you have to lay it down for a long time before it's any good. Then you uncork it and within a very short time it's all used up.. and you have to buy another one.
SNSUN Posted 30 June, 2010 Posted 30 June, 2010 I wonder whether Pards would like a bottle? He'd probably just give it away free of charge.

A friend of mine's husband owns that place. I'll tell her to pass on your compliments. There's quite a few Saints fans in Chester. Next time we all meet up that's where we'll go to eat.

Next time we all meet up that's where we'll go to eat. Seriously - I don't want to sound poncy but we had the Chateaubriand between two of us and it was pretty much the best beef I've tasted. That red was not the best on the menu but I had to have a bottle and it was right up my street! The ambience was good - yep I would recommend it. I can't remember what prices were like, as I bunged it on ex's... But next time your meet up is planned let me know - any excuse to come back! (I was up for the GGs, beautiful racecourse Chester - and plenty of crumpet in evidence). Pretty much perfect evening!
