1976_Child Posted 15 August, 2008 Share Posted 15 August, 2008 my dog has just launched a take over bid of Southampton Leisure Holdings PLC. Woof! Good girl! Bring the ball here! Arff..... bark...... howl...... woof. Now where did I park my camel? Shame to fly around on a carpet and eat dandelions all day. Suppose we get a pidgeon to be the club mascot? Stranger things than electricity prices going up and up and up. Weird how some sub-stations are never actually ergonomically designed. Bad Karma. Need a feng shui master to come and paint the garage a deep purple or something before I light the bar-b-q and try and see the moon through my new pin-hole camera. Sally Armstrong knows a thing or two about strawberries. I prefer cranberries. My dog doesn't care for any kind of berry. Good dog! Woof! growl and bark! Now don't chase that cat! I said DON'T chase the feline! Now go and buy that club! Meow.... bye bye.

dubai_phil Posted 15 August, 2008 Share Posted 15 August, 2008 Well another Friday comes and goes, what a surprise. Just a reality check for those hoping to get money out a US dollar linked economy such as the Middle East.... Pound has dropped to around 1.857. Article below shows it could drop to 1.55 so that somebody putting in 30mil quid in dollars in the next two weeks or so will lose about 20% just in value over the first 12 to 18 months of their investment. Gonna be a real wise businessman that thinks he can burn that sort of currency loss right now with the problems that SLH have with finances. Mind you the GOOD news is that IF we can survive for the season we can become a MUCH better investment for a Middle East based consortium next summer. Doesn't bode well for your cheap shopping trips to the Big Apple though So any new ITK's pop up about investment if it ain't in pounds this could be a problem http://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/main.jhtml?xml=/money/2008/08/15/bcnpound215.xml

The others were just mentalists Saintlee knew of this one since mid May but chose not to post anything at the time as a few other of us also. We were told end of May, then end of June then before the season starts then last Tuesday then this Tuesday. Look, a lot of what is now coming out is factual including Shearer. Of that I am entirely satisfied. What seems to be missing is the investors to support the good intentions. I for one have a view that it will not happen. Someone is trying to big this one up. They tried Saintlee in May but he chose not to report it, Nick Illingsworth on the ugly inside in June or July and he did but the press did not pick it up, now the papers are getting a sniff BUT no one has seen the actual investment money. Lowe and Wilde are aware but again no money has been proved. Crouch was aware whilst he was still in power but it was all promise and no money evidence. Someone is living in fantasy land when it comes to the real investment imho. I am totally fed up with it all and will shut up now on the subject! Just one question, why do you think it won't happen? These things seem to always take an eternity and ther's been no public denials from anyone eg Shearer or Merrington to my knowledge. If Saintlee knew in May that is not long at all really is it? I'm still hoping it's more of a "when" than an "if". Here's hoping anyway.

Fowllyd Posted 20 August, 2008 Share Posted 20 August, 2008 Don't you think that as we are a public company the LSE would have to be informed if we are in a bid situation? As nothing has happened there, I can't think we are about to be taken over......................... This rumour has been doing the rounds for months and still no action............ If a party or parties are trying to sort out a bid, then the company they want to buy needn't be in a bid situation. So at present there's certainly no need for the LSE to be informed. The original bid situation, over two years ago, happened as a result of frantic share-buying and a concomitant hike in the share price when the apparent interest from Paul Allen became known. The Takeover Panel advised SLH to put itself into a bid situation as share dealing is more tightly monitored in these circumstances. Should the current players (Fulthorpe, Asturius, whoever) secure the finance they require, they'll approach the main shareholders directly. If they agree a purchase of the three main holdings they'll be required to offer at the same price for all shares; whether they get them or not is uncertain, but they'd control in excess of 50% of the shareholding, and thus the company itself. All that said, action seems to be distinctly non-forthcoming!

I don't see what anyone has to gain by bigging up another phantom bid. If the money doesn't come through, Merrington and Fulthorpe are going to look like a couple of melons. At the present time, I believe that Fulthorpe is the only option to actually get us of out of the crapper, but only if they turn to reality, rather than the stupidity they have been chasing. They do not have the finances to do anything unless the club goes into administration, but if that same money could be used before administration, we could all be winners. After administration, that sort of money would not put us in a better position than we were prior, but before administration could make a huge difference. We could all say that Lowe, Wilde etc should just give them their shares and let them save us, or alternatively the opposite, but it is not quite as simple as that. First it is not only Wilde and Lowe alone, but a total share holding of 75% required to make it happen. Also Wilde and Lowe must believe that what they intend to do has a reasonable chance of success, or we are better off continuing down our present road. Given some of the comments given out by the Billy Bull****ter of the group, I can readily understand those revervations. You only have to look back at what happened when Wilde took over the club, that the best for the club would have been for all parties to come together and do what is best for Saints, not serving their own personal interests. The same situation but with different circumstances could easily be coming up in the near future. What would wreck it again is personal ambitions or views that are not neccessarily for the good of the club, but for the individual. I am not singling out one side or individual here, as at the end of the day you could more than likely tar them all with the that brush.
