Quick question for Granty/Baj... Will the new setup impact in any way (good or bad) on match threads (seems ages since we played a match) and can the server handle mass sign ins when said matches get exciting (which they will cos we're brilliant)?

Hey Micky,

 

have you tried changing your Message Editor Interface: in your 'General Settings' (http://www.saintsweb.co.uk/profile.php?do=editoptions) right near the bottom.

 

Other people have changed to the Standard or Enhanced editor and that has seemed to have made a difference!!

 

I've had the same problem as well so thanks for the tip Bob - seems to be ok now.

Well I would imagine it would be most beneficial to those overseas as they're obviously less likely to be able to get to a game, but it should be of benefit to everyone

Hurrah, finally got a page to load on my mobile. Not like the old site which loaded in seconds. Now that I'm here I wish I hadn't bothered waiting.

 

Btw, has anyone noticed any improved features? I haven't seen any yet, but do find the slow page load, and lack of work safe colour option to be significant disadvatages. Sigh.

 

i too have noticed it to be alot slower to load pages on my blackberry, harder to navigate and the page is too wide for my screen.

i too much preferred the old format, dont suppose we'll get it back though, didnt see any need for the change personally.

 

steve grant, there may be only 20 odd people moaning about the new format, but did you have 20 odd people complaining about the lack of functionality of the old format?

 

also, just because you've spent along time creating your "masterpiece" doesnt put it above peoples critisism

Its a step backwards, but if a lot of effort has gone into the new site then it must be better (?) I wonder how many other people don't like it but don't mention anything cos they know it will just be ignored?

 

Good work guys, I appreciate your hard work, really (just preferred the old layout). I'll let it go now, partly because there's more to life, and secondly because I know no-ones listening.

Look, it's been explained, the site HAD to be upgraded for some of the new vBulletin features to be enabled. One of which is being rolled out in time for the Plymouth match.

 

The other's I should imagine are more cosmetic and admin related.

 

It's a fact that people don't like change, if Steve and Baj skinned the site so that it looked like the old one no of you would be whining.

 

I personally like it, takes a wee bit of getting used to but it's fine. And it works better on my WinMo device without me having to continually scroll (a la CrackBerry user).....so it's a straight choice, use it or don't use it, because it sure as hell isn't going to be rolled back....

IT is what IT is, changes are made that people don't like, who liked Office 2K7 when it cam out (not that I want to start an MS v others debate) but it grows on you.

Try downloading BOLT as a browser, it is good on that and in your options turn off the icons beside everyones name and you will find it faster.

Was struggling myself with my Blackberry until downloading BOLT as a browser, it is good on that, and in your options of this forum turn off the icons beside everyones name and you will find it faster.

The number of people having a moan about the new look are by far a minority (about 20 out of 3500 who have logged in in the last month), and even some of those have come around to the new look and the initial negative reaction was a "eek, something's changed, I don't like change" reaction.

 

Needless to say, I didn't spend the best part of 6 months of my (unpaid) spare time only to scrap it and go back to the old (and very much dated in design and functionality terms) format.

 

I still think it looks a little more basic but think its a small change that would make that difference. The red bar saying Quick Reply has graded colour from dark red up to light red where as all the other red bars look to be just a flat colour. Seems like a simple change that would make the site look a little more updated but none of that really makes a difference to me coming here or not.

 

Still like the site and the info I read is generally relivent and focus on what I come here for anyway. Sometimes takes a bit longer to load but nothing to cry about.

 

Still worth the £5 so Child seems like he is being a bit a drama queen.

I liked the darker background. You say it was outdated but I think it's more a case of everyone else has bright backgrounds so we should. I enjoyed coming to the site with the old layout but now it's not unique anymore. Still, it's only a forum.

I have no problems with using the forum as it now is. Hell, I actually quite like the look of it.

 

This thread is hilarious. Its title and first post are some of the most preposterous, pretentious nonsense I've read on here in quite some time. The funniest part is that the original poster actually seems to be totally serious in what he's saying.

Its a forum, it really doesn't matter what it looks like, if I had to choose I would say the new style is slightly better. But it is clunky compared the old one, scrolling is really poor.

Biggest gripe still though is missing Big Ron from the banner. Sacrilege.

When Saintsweb was launched, we were told the site was for us , I naturally assumed that the £5 = 1 share in SaintsWeb Ltd, much the same as the Saints Trust, infact that is the reason I have been so against the Trust as I saw the Saintsweb Club as a great platform for fan representation.

 

Is Saintsweb going the same way as SFC? Zero communication and contempt for fans? When I renew my Paypal subscription can I expect a booking fee?

Go into your User Control Panel thingy ma jig and at the bottom somewhere you can change the type thiingy to YMFYMCAFG Or something. You will know when you see it. Change it to that from the standard one and your type will appear corectly and you will also be able to get smileys when you go advanced.
