Saintandy666 Posted 23 June, 2010 Posted 23 June, 2010 Incredible game here, longest in terms of games and time in history... approaching 8 hours on court! 42-41 in the final set.
Ponty Posted 23 June, 2010 Posted 23 June, 2010 It's about time they brought in the fifth set tie break.

This match was started yesterday and stopped for bad light. If it stops for bad light again today the winner won't be able to play the next round match due tomorrow. 53 all as I type.

jawillwill Posted 23 June, 2010 Posted 23 June, 2010 Tennis is the 3rd greatest sport behind football and squash. And boo hoo if they don't like it. Surely the prize money for getting into the next round is enough incentive for them to "work" a 6 hour day (or however long they've been on court today) for a change.

Saintandy666 Posted 23 June, 2010 Author Posted 23 June, 2010 You can't change the rules based on a one off happening!
bungle Posted 24 June, 2010 Posted 24 June, 2010 Isn't it only Wimbledon that doesn't have the 5th set tiebreak? I'm not much into tennis, but has to be said this match is rather amazing. Don't need nobs like Ponty around.
skintsaint Posted 24 June, 2010 Posted 24 June, 2010 be they both woke to aching legs this morning...
Gorgiesaint Posted 24 June, 2010 Posted 24 June, 2010 Decent blog by Tom Fordyce on the BBC site about the game.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/blogs/tomfordyce/2010/06/maraat.html Hadn't realised Mahut was the guy who beat Alex Bogdanovic 24-22 in the final set in the final round of qualifying.
Hatch Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 Mahut will have played more games than the eventual winner will have done. Can you imagine two women playing this match!! They would be demanding double pay
