View From The Top Posted 23 June, 2010 Share Posted 23 June, 2010 I've a netgear cable wireless router and it's developed a really high pitched whine, worse than Dune, that my nipper and I can hear but the girls can't. My speed has dropped to 18mps and I can't connect my PS3 to the PS network. Is there anything I can do to fix it or is it a case of binning it and buying a Belkin? ta muchly. mdearlove Posted 23 June, 2010 Share Posted 23 June, 2010 as there are virtually no moving parts in the router its probably an electrical part dying. you could try opening it up and seeing if you can spot something but its unlikely to be something you can fix easily. Get a Buffalo router - I swear by them
St Landrew Posted 23 June, 2010 Share Posted 23 June, 2010 I think you've just been a bit unlucky. The Netgear DG834, I'm assuming you've got, is an excellent router, IMO, and usually very reliable indeed.

Sounds like the capacitors are giving up! Time to replace with a nice Wirelees N router. Linksys, Netgear or whoever. Move-on

TUS Posted 2 July, 2010 Share Posted 2 July, 2010 Was this provided by Virgin? By one did exactly the same after about 18 months. Rang Virgin and they sent a free replacement :-)
