Badger Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 Notice how Dickson is classed as a midfielder on his profile on the OS . . . http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/page/ProfilesDetail/0,,10280~30120,00.html Not given him the No 3 shirt yet though. Not that it is conclusive by any means.
Turkish Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 Well it is. Get used to it. I wanted to check out your footballing knowledge and checked out some of your previous posts. You suggested Pires might be interested in joining us...That pretty much confirmed my thoughts about you. And as for you thinking Mills might be too weak to play at LB. According to one of your previous posts, you think Mills is class. So too weak or class? Also if we go 451. Then lovely. But Ryan Dickson is first and foremost a left back. As is Dan Harding. Maybe...Just maybe...We are signing players because they are better than our current ones? That is kinda what your supposed to do. I understand the love for Harding. He's good. But if people just applied some logic maybe they would understand that maybe Pardew rates Dickson as better? I've watched Dickson play a few times more than most on this board, and he's good. Bloody good. He's a better attacking option than Harding and just as solid defensively. I'd rather have him on Harding but it doesn't take me to have seen him play that maybe just maybe Pardew thinks Dickson is the better option at left back than Dan Harding. Harding is not some sort of left back god that he is made out to be on here. He had a pretty good solid season but we are in a financial position now were we can buy better players at this level if we think they are. We don't have to start putting left backs at right back to do a job because we can go out and get a right back. If we think someone is better than Harding we should sign him if we can. If we think someone is better than Lambert, we should go out and sign him if we can. **** being loyal any more, **** making do with a left back playing right back. We are aiming to get somewhere, and we need to be ruthless in our approach to get there. That is what top teams do. They are ruthless and efficient in there pursuit for there target. If Harding is surplus to requirements here then sod him. I dont think he is btw. I think he will play his fair share next season and will still be an important player, but the signing of Dickson shows our ambition because he is here to play and compete for that first team spot. He won't be here to be some back up left back, just because he played for Brentford (Who btw, people are massively under rating on this forum). We are in a position as a club where we can bring players who are better than our current crop of players. We don't have to make do with signings like Pulis etc who will do a job for us. You are absolutely 1000000% spot on in every point. As saints fans we have got too used to the HCDAJFU players. Barcelona have just signed Villa and want Fabregas, i bet their fans aren't saying well, 'what will happen to Ibrahimovic and Iniesta?' In any case how many time have we been f***** over by players who jump ship at the first sign of a better offer? Why should clubs behave any differently?
Turkish Posted 25 June, 2010 Posted 25 June, 2010 (edited) Tbf, I can't ever remember describing Mills as a class LB, I've always thought he's good going forward, but not defensively. Can you please post the date I thought he was class defensivelt as I've probably changed my mind. The Pires thing was on the back of him saying he'd play at Leicester, so why wouldn't he drop further? And if there are so many RB's out there, can you name them for me. Greg Halford hasn't been decent for a long while, so I don't really agree with that. Either way, I don't like your tone, perhaps you should just lighten up and not criticise just because you don't have the opinion others do. Tell me your footballing qualifications (not footie manager) and we'll see what you really know eh? Why are you obsessed with qualifications? Typcial graduate snobbery.(assuming you are a graduate as i noticed you only say you studied law, never actaully said you graduated in it in amongst all you other self promotion) There are people in my company (who i obviously dont declare i work for but according to you just fiddle the state for benefits whist working for them as a cleaner) that have 1st but know jack **** about what they do and how our industry works and they wont until they have a bit of experience. Likewise people that have played the game at a decent level or watched football for years might be able to write their football qualifications on a postage stamp with an invisible pencil but doesn't mean they dont know anything about football. As it happens our friend Hopkins is spot on in his assessment, IMO of course. I doubt either of us studied football at university for years. But for you though my friend, isn't there some book you can quickly read to get you to speed, I remember Kevin Keegans soccer skills book being popular when i was a kid. Or maybe just a large dose of common sense may help you realise Pires, or any world cup winning player for that matter, would ever seriously consider joining a league one club, or us actually us look at them a 35(?) year old, when we are looking for players who can go the whole journey back to the PL with us. Another longish Turkish post that I can't get past the first line as it bores the life out of me. All that happeed is you decided to attack me, because I'm not crying and in a picket line crying for the release of the Southampton 12. I reacted to you criticising me for having the belief that if I had a degree in the subject I was placed to judge it. Obviouslymy mistake, and probably why all lawyers/solicitors don't have to have degrees nowadays. Either way, obviously I was a tax cheating, grant taking student. What I find funny/sad is the following. I didn't reply to you on the other thread, mainly because my phone can't seem to render te page properly, and I don't have the opportunity to get to a computer that often. But because I haven't replied to you, you've decided to come and find me, so that you can carry the argument on. Does that count as trolling, or bullying, I don't know which (not legal terms y'see)?

Tell me your footballing qualifications (not footie manager) and we'll see what you really know eh? Last September you said it. You didn't mention defensively you just said he was class. I was merely making a **** point tbf. Anyway, not that you need qualifications to realise that playing a left footed left back at right back is retarded but I have FA coaching badges and quite a bit experience coaching kids here and in USA. Thanks for asking. Seeing as your so obsessed, what about you? Pires to League One? Do me a favour. He said he finds the idea of getting Leicester promoted appealing. I think he'd draw a line at League One, what ever the money is like. There are also other clubs interested. Steau Bucharest for a start. I don't know what RB's are out there that are available, but just off my head I could name a few good league one right backs. Francis, Logan. We don't need to be mucking about with left backs playing out of position when we are in a financial position to force players we'd like to become available. Whether or not a club is wanting to sell there right back, we have the muscle power now to go in and make an offer they can't refuse. Especially if we think its value for money. I'm sure there are options out there that are better than playing Harding at right back. The OS can say what it wants. He might well be here to play left midfield (Imo, he will play Left Back). Even if he is. We won't be playing Harding right back. Never did I say Dickson is purely a left back either.

Yet more arrogance from our resident Rumple of Bailey. In between filling in benefit forms i actually stumbled on this post where i see you appear to be claiming that unless someone has a masters in football coaching and tactics (although obviously with your knowledge of law there is an overlap) they shouldn't comment on if a left back should be a long term solution as a right back. What you arrogantly said on the other thread was that as you stuided law you have a better idea about it than me and that i clearly knew sweet FA about the law, yet i am still to see any demostration of this superior knowledge anywhere. ie your point about shouting 'i am going to kill Pompey fans' being considered assault which carries a max term of 6 months when they were charged with violent disorder, which carries up to 5 years. Anway, what are you up to today? Watching video reruns of Tom Cruise in the Firm?
NickG Posted 26 June, 2010 Posted 26 June, 2010 Harding looked very good but if we can get better surely we must? Made sense the comments he made about teams being defensive against us so we need speed at fullback

Read my post again, I never said that was what happened, I was just using it as an example that the law isn't just black and white. And no, I was working on my house thanks, just installing the kitchen. Glad to know you care though.

Thanks for asking. Seeing as your so obsessed, what about you? All that says to me is that you like children. But all joking aside, I never said that it was a good idea, I was just saying it COULD happen. Bit of a difference. I'm not saying I agree with it. I was just playing Devils Advocate. Pires to League One? Do me a favour. He said he finds the idea of getting Leicester promoted appealing. I think he'd draw a line at League One, what ever the money is like. There are also other clubs interested. Steau Bucharest for a start. I never said he would come, I said he might come if we offered him enough money. Of course if he gets a better deal he would go elsewhere. But would he particularly want to move to Romania. I don't know, I'm not him or his agent. I don't know what RB's are out there that are available, but just off my head I could name a few good league one right backs. Francis, Logan. Don't rate Logan, but Simon Francis is decent.
Turkish Posted 27 June, 2010 Posted 27 June, 2010 Where did I say that? Read my post again, I never said that was what happened, I was just using it as an example that the law isn't just black and white. And no, I was working on my house thanks, just installing the kitchen. Glad to know you care though. You asked for his qualifications, implying that unless someone had studied football coaching and had qualifications then they know nothing. I'm sure Lawrie Mcmenemy and Brian Clough (RIP) never had any formal football qualifications but if you hold a entry level refeering badge then in your world you'd be more knowledgable than them. YOu have your own house?! Why do that when you can be on the dole and get a council one for nowt like me. Its ironic you'd spend yesterday installing a kitchen, i had the council stick a new one in for me over the last week, for nothing of course which you paid for and you also paid for the guy who fit it, didn't lift a finger myself as usual. In a round about sort of way you worked on my house yesterday too, thanks. What with me being a 16 year old school leaving, bitter, benefit, tax fiddling scum bag an' al'.
Colinjb Posted 27 June, 2010 Posted 27 June, 2010 Not given him the No 3 shirt yet though. Not that it is conclusive by any means. It seems to me that a lefthand side of Harding at LB and Dickson at LM with the two being able to cover each other and allow forward runs at will would be the most logical answer here.
Turkish Posted 27 June, 2010 Posted 27 June, 2010 It seems to me that a lefthand side of Harding at LB and Dickson at LM with the two being able to cover each other and allow forward runs at will would be the most logical answer here. playing a player out of position is the most logical answer? The most logical answer would be that AP thinks Dickson is as good as or even a better player than Harding and wants two good players for every postion. Hence why he is rumoured to be after two right backs, why we have two good goalkeepers, 4 decent centre halves, why he wants a new striker to along with RL, LB & DC and new midfield players, 24 good players in a squad, not 11 good ones and 11 HCDAJFU's which would make us a lot weaker due to injuries, suspensions, tiredness. 46 games + 3 cups is a long old season.
Dibden Purlieu Saint Posted 28 June, 2010 Posted 28 June, 2010 You asked for his qualifications, implying that unless someone had studied football coaching and had qualifications then they know nothing. Feel sorry for you working hard today when i'll be out in the front garden on my deckchairs later, still lucky you are such a top bloke and are grafting for me. There are ways of making a sensible point.... and that. Dickson is listed on the club OS as a left midfielder who can provide cover at LB. Indications are that rather then one of them keeping the other out of the side they could be playing together. Yes, we do need depth in each position but the positional strengths of those two are down the entirety of the left hand side not just in the back line. Harding's forward runs and few goals showed he is not just a plodding left back, he can be more dynamic. Dickson equally appears to be an attacking left back/midfielder, play both him and Harding together and we would be rock solid on that flank with attacking posibilities mixed in. Puncheon as well can provide a more out and out attacking flair option out there if we need it. Sounds like we have every option covered there then! Giving the depth you desire (and are correct about.... but no need to be totally patronising with it...) as well as multiple tactical options. The right side now needs to be sorted.

Either way, I don't know if you're enjoying the role play of being a waster, but it really is getting quite tiresome now, and I assume that others on this forum are finding it boring as sin (this tete a tete as a whole). I know I am. Why don't we just agree to disagree? I don't like people abusing our benefits system, and people who indulge in football violence for the hell of it. You condone it. The end.

I have said several times that i dont agree with what they did and they were stupid to get involved.
