Saints fans jailed

Last season against Bristol Rovers when they scored the 96th minute winner I believe I 'shouted aggressively' over the segregation whilst Brizzle fans were making poor attempts to climb over it. There was a copper next to me who simply said "Calm down mate, it's alright, I know how you feel, calm down, we'll do them down their place". I said fair play and moved on down the steps. Surely, in line with the P*mpey game, he should have arrested me for this little spat of verbal. Why the seemingly sudden change of police tactics? Incidentally, this copper's way of dealing with my 'aggressive shouting' was a lot better than whacking me with a truncheon, arresting me and wasting tax payer's money sending me to jail.

I think you should be directing your anger to the CPS and the Jury. They are the ones who decide the outcome not the OB.

No, but the OB decide where to focus their "limited" resources and football fans obviously seem far more important than serious criminals unfortunately.

You're completely wrong and i'll tell you why you're wrong. It costs a huge amount to police games because of a small minority of yobs. These people are costing all of us money because it comes from the public purse and the club so it's taxpayers and supporters that are paying the price for these hoodlums. For this reason it is a good thing that a strong detterent has been issued because the effect will eventually be that they will behave and the cost to all of us will come down.

In theory that's right. In practice though the Police will just use these convictions to justify an even larger Police bill next time Saints play Pompey (probably on a Sunday with even more double-bubble overtime)

So you think with a few draconian penalties this time we can do without policing next time? No of course not. Maybe the time after, or some indeterminate date in the distant future, possible but very unlikely.

By which time millions would have been spent chasing a few hub-cap throwers, and a few more years of serious crime going undetected; simply to keep the 'String 'em up and flog 'em', element of society happy.

Isn't that their job? Do you think they stopped all other police work on the day of the Saints v Pompey game just to nick a few idiots?
