hamster Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Matt Le Tissier style goal there! Don;t think Matt would have got away with a double hand ball though SaintAndy (there was definitely one clear one and a possible second). If that had been a french, german or argie move the commentators would ahave gone ape.

John Boy Saint Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Nice to see Pearce and Lawro getting spiky with each other
Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Nice to see Pearce and Lawro getting spiky with each other He said what we were all thinking though: Anyone who participates in a Mexican wave IS a muppet!
hamster Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 SA, did you see the playback of the ref asking him if he used his hand? Obviously the ref didn't see either but this sort of incident is why many call for video playbacks to be introduced. It's Brazil and a fairly meaningless match some might say, but what if that 1 goal is the goal difference one that sends the Ivory Coast home? Group G is pretty tight right now so it could prove decisive. I like watching Brazil when they play like Brazilians but there really is no defence for downright cheating in my book.

Mmmmm, I saw it, made me laugh in a way, but I guess what else can he say? Shame really.
hamster Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Just like Maradonna and Henry's famous handballs, it's a shame that players of their supposed natural skill and gift resort to such tac-tics. It could be argued that Maradonna's 'greatest goal ever' is not actually his most famous and we here in England will forever struggle with this contradiction, it is certainly what stops me personally hailing him, that day it was personal to many of us. Henry? Well what a player, (one of) the best in the Prem whilst at Arsenal, yet ask any Irishman what they think of him now. Nice to see the IC pull one back, just think how frantic and finely balanced this is now and how much moreso it would be 90 seconds to go with just 1 goal in it. Come on Cote d'Ivoire, do these cheating bastards.
Saintandy666 Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 I can see why the Brazilians are getting a bit annoyed. Ivory Coast have been hacking away for a while now.
hamster Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Getting a bit tetchy now, what a contrast in styles; one trying to cheat their way to a win and the other erm....trying to cheat their way to a draw.
SO16_Saint Posted 20 June, 2010 Author Posted 20 June, 2010 I may be in the minority here but i get really frustrated watching Brazil play. Why play one pass when 7 will suffice Grr
chrisobee Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 This is why I despair at Football these days. Players cheating, players getting booked/sent off for touching someone, 1st Klose and now Kaka and yet leg breaking challenges often go unpunished. Can you imagine the games of the 60's and 70's, most games would have been abandoned due to at least one team going down to 6 men. Ridiculous.
chrisobee Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Kaka sent off for standing still That pretty much sums it up though you'd think the Ivory Coast player had been clobbered by Muhammad Ali, certainly worthy of an Oscar.
JackFrost Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 bloody drogba, 11 mins away from winning 150 quid on a 3-0 win for Brazil and he scores
SuperMikey Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 No way was that a booking, if the referee had seen it then he would've made the decision to play on. This is exactly why we need video referees...
Gorgiesaint Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Well if one of the pin up boys of Brazilian football being sent off doesn't help FIFA to open their braincells to video replays then nothing will.
hamster Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 /\ It's okay for that goal to stand though according to the experts in the studio, in fact they find it highly amusing. Hypocrites. Good job we all love them to bits.
Smirking_Saint Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Well, that shouldn't have been a sending off, but Hey ho, the brazillians jump on the floor at every opportunity so IMO they have nothing to moan about. Cheats, both sides. FIFA really needs to start stamping out and imposing yellow cards after the game for obvious simulation.
Arizona Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 I can't believe they don't have video replays in football. The World Cup is probably the biggest sporting event in the world after the olympics and it's stuck in the stone age. If nothing else players like that CIV muppet wouldn't even try diving if they knew the video ref would spot them and they'd get booked. Would make for a far better game with much less cheating.
scotty Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Im not so sure about the kaka sending off. Of course keita went down like he'd been poleaxed, and he's a cheating c*nt for doing it, but the brazilians had been doing the same thing all game. Lucio nearly got a player booked when he went down like he was shot, the replay showed he had actually kicked his opponent himself. And as far as I could see, kaka did deliberately raise his arm and give keita a f*cking good dig in the ribs off the ball. Personally I reckon that merited a card.
ohwhenthesaints Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Was just putting his arm up to stop the **** running into him. Ridiculous.

How absurd, why the hell was Keita running towards Kaka anyway when he didn't have the ball !? One of the worst sending offs in history, I have no doubt Keita will get banned for his reaction but if FIFA would show common sense for once they would rescind the 2nd card/sending off. Otherwise it just makes a mockery of things, no way should any player get banned when it's as plain as day they were the victim of poor refereeing ( to be polite) and yet of course it has happened before. Darren Fletcher missed the 2008 CL final having been sent off in the semi final, it was clear from the replays he did nothing wrong and played the ball, still he was suspended. Regardless of which team you support and whether you like Kaka/Fletcher or Brazil/Man Utd any fair minded football fan would surely want to see a just outcome.

However, why would they then not rescind the 2nd yellow card yet I'd be surprised if they do as the "rules" probably don't allow it. Bizarre and just makes a mockery of the game.

Dark Munster Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 As well as being a cheat, Keita is also an idiot: by having Kaka sent off he is helping Portugal (their rivals for 2nd place) in their final match against Brazil.

It looked a hell of a lot worse for the brazilian from the other camera angle, kaka gave him a good elbowing in the chest. I'll be amazed if fifa rescind the yellow/red.
Arizona Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 Was just putting his arm up to stop the **** running into him. Ridiculous. Looking at it from that angle, it looks like Keita took a fair whack in the cheek from Kaka's shoulder. Might explain why he was clutching his face. I agree it's embarassing the way he fell over like a sack of spuds and it was never in a million years a foul by Kaka.

Its a pathetic overreaction from keita, but he still took a whack. And the only thing the ref is guilty of is not seeing it and deciding to take his linesmans word for it
