Thedelldays Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 what the hell has gone wrong..? he looks so poor it is unreal or, is he really not a world class player that we build him up to be..?
Ponty Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 Well, he is, of course. I mean, have you never seen him play before? But, I agree, he's woefully out of sorts in this World Cup. Personally, I'd rest him against the Slovenians and play Crouch and Defoe up front, for the first half at least. I'd also rest Heskey, by sending him back to England.
skintsaint Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 Doesnt help that the rest of the team are playing ****e as well...more pressure on him to do stuff.
Thedelldays Posted 19 June, 2010 Author Posted 19 June, 2010 it must be so frustrating being rooney when you have that embarrassment that is heskey playing up there with you..
Saintandy666 Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 Rooney didn't play well, but to be fair he is hardly getting any service.
SuperMikey Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 (edited) it must be so frustrating being rooney when you have that embarrassment that is heskey playing up there with you.. He's come out and publically admitted that he would prefer to play as a lone striker with Gerrard behind him, and I don't blame him. Heskey is gash. If you're a target man you've got to be able to do these things; a) Win aerial challenges - Heskey hardly won any the other day, and in the ones he did win, the headers went to nobody b) Hold up the ball - He was forever falling over or getting knocked off the ball by Bougherra et al c) Be able to play a killer ball - His passing was woeful d) Be able to track back and support the midfield - 90% of the time Heskey was standing in an offside position. Capello needs to see sense and play Crouch in that role, he's 10x better than Heskey and actually scores goals. Edited 19 June, 2010 by SuperMikey

Rooney would dine at ease from what Crouch would put on the plate. I also have grave misgivings about SWP. Sure the lad has pace but that's it, end of. He just finds blind alleys. Lennon is fine in my opinion and I can't seem to remember him being paired with Joe Cole, has that been tried? It's obviously a matter of opinion as to who out of Gerrard / Lampard would drop. Maybe I'm too cavalier in my approach? Rooney, although tired and fed up, went down in my books with his comments.
skintsaint Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 Rooney says "Last night, on reflection I said things in the heat of the moment that came out of frustration of both our performance and the result. For my part I apologise for any offence caused by my actions at the end of the game."

Gorgiesaint Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 Rooney says "Last night, on reflection I said things in the heat of the moment that came out of frustration of both our performance and the result. For my part I apologise for any offence caused by my actions at the end of the game." Doesn't change anything, the bloke is still a **** for making those comments. Any chance of apologising for the actual performance, well lack of, and a complete lack of effort and caring whilst representing your country.
JackFrost Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 1) Rooney is overrated, a top player and one of England's best strikers - yes. World class - no. Crouch has been our most potent goalscoring threat for a couple of years now. 2) Currently Rooney is nowhere near match fit
sadoldgit Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 To be a world class player you need to perform at the very highest level. You can't blame Heskey for Rooney's performance last night, he was just awful. His control was a bad as mine and he coulnd't pass. mind you the rest were pretty awful too!
sadoldgit Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 The problem with England is lack of quality in depth. We end up taking crocked players and praying they can stay fit. King was never really going to last was he? Rooney ended the season crocked and looks nothing like his old self. Terry seems to have been crushed by the bad press and pressure. YOu need you best players firing on all cylinders. We have few class acts and if they don't come up wit the goods, at this level. we are stuffed. We should have walked this group and we currently look the worst team of the 4.
OldNick Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 This. no we should play Rooney up front in a lone role , like he does for Man u with wingers and midfielders breaking into the box

aintforever Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 I would be happy if he doesn't play for England again. The chav is an embarrassment to the country.
Block 5 Posted 19 June, 2010 Posted 19 June, 2010 An FA official told Rooney to say "Last night, on reflection I said things in the heat of the moment that came out of frustration of both our performance and the result. For my part I apologise for any offence caused by my actions at the end of the game." Edit.
Dark Munster Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 no we should play Rooney up front in a lone role , like he does for Man u with wingers and midfielders breaking into the box That's one plan, and it may or may not be better than having him upfront with Crouch. But both alternatives are infinitely better than having Heskey in the team.
dubai_phil Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Clearly reading some of the press this morning, I blame Nike. There's nothing wrong with Rooney's fitness, he is just playing like someone who believes that he is moving into a Caravan on Thursday morning after we get knocked out. Fear of failure
mack rill Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Drop the donkey, Rooney, Lampard, The Freak, and the Mucky Midget up front Gerrard in the middle with J Cole. Give Heart the jumper so at least all three goalies have had a game. Oh and give Capelo a free bus pass back to Wop! land, Baggpuss If your not inside, You got the Job!
