England V Algeria

Quick poll - me and the other half having a 'discussion' tonight. She's supporting Algeria because Skate James is in goal and Green should be there. I agree that manager shouldn't have dropped Green but I'm still supporting England. However, she's hell bent on supporting Algeria because of the Skates and I'm not a loyal Saints fan.

Did point this out - but she hates James more :)

I was amused at the start when the commentator said that England had dropped their 'calamity keepr' in favour of James, who I thought had a monopoly on that moniker. Anyway, now we have 4 Skates ( past & present ) on for the whites - James, Johnson, Defoe, & Crouch.

ah well....0-0 against a poor Algerian team who were never going to score a goal if the game went on for a week. They played 361 in possesion and 541 when defending. Good way to stop England playing is by shutting up shop for 90mins.

Still in our hands so roll on Slovenia.

that was the worst 90mins of football i have ever watched in my entire life. It was inept, truy inept. Rooney looked like a conference player, no confidence, heavy touch, no pace. He's clearly not fit at all, probably playing at 40% fitness.

Gerrard had the life strangled out of him to accommodate heskey, who did as much damage as a gust of wind.

At least we had a bit of life with Sven managing us.

Point of taking joe cole if you're not going to use him? SWP offers nothing, you'd thought he'd have learnt that by now.

What a waste of a summer this has been.

Absolutely pathetic performance. Heskey was appalling. Rooney and Lampard were nowhere to be seen. Johnson and Carragher got skinned all night long. Passing was shocking. Why are we playing 4-4-2? Seriously Capello. What are you doing?!

Anyone remember the last time Frank Lampard had a good game for England ?

Until we start dropping the underperforming prima donnas the national team will go nowhere.

Problem is that won't happen because not enough replica shirts will sell.

The prima donnas are disinterested, and the fringe players who play with some heart aren't good enough

Rooney and "Nice to see your fan's booing you". what a pompous ***t - Earn your money then if you expect to have people cheering you

Personally I would drop him for next match, he has been utter ****.

Stick Defoe and Crouch up there.

He will get slaughtered for that tomorrow

Absolutely, what a sh1tty thing to say to the fans who have paid thousands of pounds to come out to a country thousands of miles away from home just to watch their team play, and they can't even beat f*cking Algeria. I like Rooney, but what a c*ntish thing to say. On a side note, at least England fans can take positives from that performance in that Capello will certainly shake things up for the Slovenia game, no way will he start with that same XI.

At the moment, I can't see England qualifying from the group. Slovenia and USA have played much better in their two games than England have.

Well we can thank John Terry's pre World Cup antics for knocking the stuffing out of the spirit in the team. They all looked drugged, Lampard especially. Most never even broke into a sweat tonight. Algeria are a good side and rarely a push over.

Joe Cole is better than Lampard and is certainly good enough.

Gerrard is always played out of position to accomodate Lampard.

WTF is it with the over paid nephew of redcrapp ?

Today was summed up in two moments.

First - when Gerrard squared it for nobody on 55 minutes. if he is playing for Liverpool he would have buried that. But because he doesn't feel he needs to carry the team and take the extra risk, run the extra yard - he didn't bother. He just passed on the responsibility out of fear, or because he can't be bothered.

Second - Capello subbing SWP on for Lennon. That's right, take off our most dangerous player who actually did offer something different or bring on a sack of sh*t that shouldn't have even been on the plane. If we don't beat Slovenia, don't be surprised if he gets the sack.

One major problem is that the three 'Billy-Big-B0ll0cks' (Rooney, Gerrard, Lampard) don't want to be team players. They're basically selfish ball-chasers who won't hold down a position and do the job they're allocated. Ironically, the only one who tries to fill the role he's been given is Heskey - he's just crap at it. But he's there because of Rooney's selfish reasons. He in particular knows Clip-Clop will try and feed him and give him goals, whereas Crouch will try to (and often does) score for himself. Clip-Clop had a clear opportunity to shoot shortly before being subbed (just after trying a poorly-executed step-over), but chose to cross instead - behind the incoming players.

Felt sorry for Barry being subbed as he at least tried to play his position.

That was absolutely dire! No desire, no fire, uninspired. What the **** was Heskey on for? He's a donkey! We've got no chance. End of.

Agree that Heskey is limited but to be fair to him,his inclusion is often justified on how he brings others in to the game etc etc.If the others around him are,to put it politely, underperforming then it is impossible for him to fulfill his task.

I am not making a complete defence for Heskey here as at times he left me raging over his inadequacies, but basically he often had f^ck all options available.

It is easy to pin it on Heskey, and Green but this will overlook the real culprits who have let us down ie the media darlings of Rooney,Gerrard,Rashley, and of course Lumplard.

Bunch of c^nts.
