England V Algeria

My team would be:

Hart

Johnson Dawson Terry A.Cole

Lennon Lampard Barry J.Cole

Gerrard

Rooney

I just don't trust Carragher.

That would be my team too but more likely to be something like this IMO:

Green

Johnson Terry Carragher A.Cole

Lennon Lampard Barry Gerrard

Rooney Crouch

Gerrard was played on the left in the qualifiers when we were playing some great football. Only doubts are between Green/James/Hart & Heskey/Crouch I'd say.

Need a start like we had against the US tonight and then to build on it this time. Get an early goal and I think we'll score 3 or 4 tonight but the longer it goes without us scoring the more confident Algeria will get and the harder they will become to break down.

I would go with

Green

Johnson Terry Carragher Cole

Lennon Lampard Barry Cole

Gerrard

Rooney

He wont though and Heskey will be in for Joe Cole and Gerrard will play on the left.

The thing i just don't understand is our England captain is having to play out of position! Crazy! He is our captain he shouldn't have to fill a gap, play him off Rooney like he plays for Liverpool

I'd agree apart from Green, I'm so unsure about him. dare I say it, i'd go with James. Apart from that top team

Does sound like Capello wants Defoe in to start though...

johnson---terry---dawson---a.cole

lennon----barry---gerrard----j.cole

---------rooney----crouch-----------

I like this line up, but would also be happy with swapping crouch for Heskey as i thought he had a good game against USA

Also expect us to break free of the leash holding us back against USA, england to win 4-0

Id play

Hart

Johnson Terry Dawson a.Cole

Lennon Lampard Barry Gerrard J.Cole

Rooney

Would allow Lennon Lampard Gerrard and Cole all to get forward with Barry holding back.

What he said, kind of 4-1-4-1 when attacking, 4-5-1 when defending.

Lampard off, Stevie G into the middle, Joe Cole on

yep, and Lampards first touch was ****e, oh but its the ball, funny how the ALgerians who have only scored one penalty in six games dont have a problem controling it.

Lampard, Lennon, Rooney non existent.

Heskey is woeful, he is so clumsy.

Gerrard - poor

Our defensive players like Carragher, Barry etc. hae done a good job, but that's just because we have very little creativity, because we give the ball away every few passes.

Still expecting a 1-0 or a 2-0 win. Crouch will come on in the 65th min and grab at least one, then Gerrard will score in the 90th minute.

As for having a chance of winning the tournament we just aren't good enough, we're nowhere near good enough technically, the players' hearts aren't in it and we fail to string more than 5 or 6 passes together at any one time. It's looking like we'll go out in the second round to the Germans

It wasn't that bad FFS.

and the positives are?? have looked like scoring at all? This is Algeria we are playing, one goal in 6 games, not SPain or Brazil.

Too slow, too predictable, too one dimensional, still at least our 'world class players' have shown up. Only decent player have been Barry.

Utter garbage. There are so many better teams than us in the competition. It'll be a blessing to go out in the group stages, rather than be humiliated in the knockout stages.

Capello is to blame for taking so many unfit players. And Heskey - seriously when was the last time he scored in any competition? The most he would score in the whole competition is maybe one goal - and that would probably go in off his arse. The defence is shocking, total strangers to each other.

I can only guess that last season was way too long.

I watched the Japan game live, and there is no more urgency today than there was then.

I dont see a lot of PL games, so I am really wondering what all the fuss is about Lampard and Rooney.

And Heskey is just plain embarassing.

Really, honestly, Rickie Lambert would have done better.

Can't disagree with that. Maybe the front line should be Lambert and Beckford, as no-one - not even the commentators golden boy Rooney - looks to have any interest in going for goal.

The thing with lampard, gerrard Rooney et al is that they play with bloody good team mates, it's just that they're not English.

They're made to look better than they actually are.

I think in the last 10 years as a whole we have gone backwards. The Hispanic countries have improved their games through keeping possession, us and France have gone downhill and the top teams from Africa/Asia (Egypt, Ghana, Algeria, South Korea, Japan) have made massive improvements and on their day are better than us.

Most of the England players know they will start every game regardless of form, they get paid too much and the only time they give a damn is when they've just been knocked out of the tournament

God i cant believe they are saying its Capellos fault for making the players tense, they were sh*te under McClaren, Shi*e under Erikson, sh*te inder Keegan and no better than average under Hoddle. Its not the bloody manager its the arrogant, over rated players.

Put a blue filter on my TV, put on my kilt and grabbed my bagpipes, this is great, it's like Scotland actually made it to a tournament finals. Uncanny resemblance though, loads of players who do great for their clubs (think Hansen, Dalglish, Souness, Mo Johnson, McClair, McCoist etc) but turn to utter **** as soon as they pull on the national shirt. I would expect that they will be eliminated on goal difference...
