pre-ordering cd's

Anyone pre-ordered albums before from Play.com?

 

Do they arrive with you on the day they are released, or do they post them out on the release date, meaning you get them a day or so after?

Can't vouch for cd's but any DVDs, Blurays or games I've ordered from there more often that not turn up a day,sometimes two, earlier than their release date.

Have pre-ordered avenged sevenfolds new album. So it better be release date!!!!

Got an e.mail yesterday to say CD has been dispatched, album is due out Monday so I guess it depends on the postal service but should get it on the release date.

Why would anyone pre-order anything? (except a season ticket for SMS).
