Saintandy666 Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 I expect Spain to be very good, but they are a team that always seems to under perform at World Cups.

Gorgiesaint Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 Not wanting to be too critical of the Spanish but it does strike me that a midfield of Xavi, Busquets, Iniesta & Xavi Alonso is just too similar, at least Fabregas can break into the box to support the strikers. And how much do they miss Torres?
Smirking_Saint Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 Meh, thought perhaps not. Always like this in the first round of matches, unfortunately no team wants to lose their first game and so it ends up being Sh*te and boring Hopefully may get better after this match !!!!! On another note - Green has been training a lot recently and has had 4000 shots against him without conceeding a single goal !!!!!!!!! From tomorrow him and Heskey will train with the rest of the team. Ba bum tish

stevegrant Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 Thoroughly deserved win, they defended really well, Spain didn't really create enough to get back in the game and with 15 minutes to go looked like they'd run out of ideas.

S-Clarke Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 This makes things very interesting. The swiss can now go and top the group....spain will finish runners up without much trouble IMO, but the tough test is that they will possibly face Brazil in the last 16... pedg Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 Well! F*** me sideways - who'd have predicted that result! In my works 'predict the score for points' competition that was the first match where not one person out of 35 got the right result. Only one entrant got points for predicting the right winner and that was probably the randomly generated one whose task is to embarrass people who get less points. hutch Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 So, as well as England, France, Italy and Portugal all draw their openers, and Spain lose. It's still wide open.
Arizona Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 Finish second in our group and we will face Germany, don't really fancy our chances there. Germany beat a really really sh*t Australia side with no strikers. We drew with a pretty decent USA side and should have won but for individual mistakes from Green and Heskey. Incidentally, that's Switzerland's 5th clean sheet in a row at World Cup finals. They went out of the last World Cup on penalties to Ukraine, without conceding a goal in the tournament. St Landrew Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 Whenever I see photos of Markus, I always wonder whether his doctor has him on medication. He looks a little jaundiced to me. But I digress. Well done the Swiss. Shame about the move where they hit the post. That would have made a cracking individual goal.
Smirking_Saint Posted 17 June, 2010 Share Posted 17 June, 2010 The difference in those two games being that Germany were brilliant and England were sh1t. TBF, we pretty much dominated, all USA did of note was headed wide once and had a single long shot which green unfortunately f*cked up. We had about 6 chances which we didn't convert. We hardly played sh*t, Germany took chances against a very very poor Aussie team, we didn't against a tough and in good form USA. Enough said. SNSUN Posted 17 June, 2010 Share Posted 17 June, 2010 Mate at work said Spain would pee all over Switzerland, predicting a 4-0 caning. I told him not to underestimate the Swiss, they're getting better. Wish I'd put my money where my mouth is. :-(
