1976_Child Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 If anyone has any doubt how eleven men should conduct themselves on a football pitch, with a view to giving 120% of every second, every minute, then you should look no further for inspiration to the way North Korea played tonight against Brazil. Technically, they are our enemies; we, and the Americans, are still technically at war with North Korea, but bugger me did they show us how the beautiful game should be played?! Sure, they had precious little up front but they did have the ability to rip the Brazilian's defense apart towards the end when Brazil should have been content with a 2-0 win. What impressed me the most about the way these plucky commies went about their business tonight is that they were a real team, covering for each other, running their socks off and out to prove a point. A point which, in my book has been well proved tonight. If our boys with the three lions, or just the red sash, play as well and with as much passion, commitment and desire in the coming weeks and the coming season then the World Cup will be ours and Our Red and White will win the league with ease. Well played you Commies! Superb performance.
benjii Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 They are a democratic republic. I don't know where you're getting this commie nonsense from. I agree that they played well though.

alpine_saint Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 They played well, and apart from a freak goal by Mr. Jabulani, would have got a point. I felt for the number 9 when he was sobbing for their national anthem - I know I would do the same. The only thing I didnt like was watching their coreographed and hand-picked for political reliability fans in the crowd. Half of North Korea is starving to death. British Socialists want everything handed to them on a plate, just like some f--- wits want Our Lads to just hand the world cup to them.
cryoman1965 Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 Liked the fact they felt no need to go down like they had been shot if they were fouled, which is more than can be said for alot of players in the tournement. Totally committed and played in the right spirit. Good to cheer on an underdog who was expected to loose 4-0 or more.
Seany S Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 North Korea were awesome. Dullest Brazil side I have seen for a while. Then again with Dunga in charge should have expected that. Hate the philosophical, military, political and humanitarian stance that their country take...but cannot fault the lads tonight.
SuperMikey Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 They were good considering only a few of the squad play professionally for teams outside of the country. They didn't show Brazil any respect, they were always chasing the ball down and stifling the Brazil players with more flair. It will be interesting to see how they cope against Ivory Coast who play a similar type of game, high tempo and short passing, but have a much bigger and stronger squad, with more creative players. I think they might manage to sneak 3 points against Portugal based on their performance today as well.
Crab Lungs Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 I think with a better prepared manager Ivory Coast should dispatch of North Korea however I think it could be a potential banana skin for Sven. That said, they'll probably just overpower them eventually. N. Korea/Portugal might be interesting, however... Fair play to them.
Micky Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 I thought they played pretty well considering. Can't fault the work rate and effort at all, and to be fair, although it's not what fans come to see, their defending was damn good. If they had held out a little longer, and with a little more conviction, who knows what might have happened. That said though, Brazil probably had another gear yet - decent game though. RedAndWhite91 Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 Is it true that Kim Jong Il tells the people they are defending the World Cup as they have won it the last 4 tournaments?!?!
JackFrost Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 The other aspect was their discipline. I think in the first half they only gave 1 free kick away? They gave away a few more in the second half as they tired but some of them were poor decisions by the ref. I liked that parody of North Korean propaanda they showed last night http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/world_cup_2010/8742773.stm

Thorpe-le-Saint Posted 16 June, 2010 Share Posted 16 June, 2010 Lets be fair, if they didn't put in 100% effort then they would probably be shot by firing squad when they returned...

TBH I think at least one player, Jong Tae-Se, will be heading straight back to Japan where he plays after the tournament ! That's if he has a choice of course.
