Thedelldays Posted 20 June, 2010 Posted 20 June, 2010 Ha ha have to laugh at this, I suggest you read all of this thread to realise what we are debating and all I did is give an answer to a question asked, I suggest you bang your head if you cannot except an answer which doesn't fit your liking. to be fair..what mick is on about was something me and him were discussing not that far up the page...you commented half way through what we were going on about
SaintBobby Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 I'm rather surprised and confused about how they've handled the whole season ticket renewal thing. And that's why I'm just a tad worried about the functionality of the marketing/ticket office at SMS. It does seem to me that they have advertised prices very late, rather inflexibly (no half-seasontickets, no installments etc) and a bit half-heartedly (no letetr in the post urging you to renew etc) I've never been in the job of selling or marketing season tickets, so this is just the view of the layman, but to my mind this doesn't look like a brilliant and co-ordinated effort to swell the STH base. Far from it.
SaintRichmond Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 I don't think it is fair to challenge Luker, I think it's pretty obvious for all to see that he had no say in the ticketing structure, shown by the schoolboy error with regards to the booking fees and surcharges. That was the reason for my tongue in cheek post. It is obvious that from now on, David Luker can only say what he is told to say by Cortese
Ken Tone Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 They did, I had email with all details on. That's interesting. The last email I had from the club was in January, so they do have my address, yet I did not receive any ST renewal details by any means. Had I not kept an eye on this site and the OS I would know nothing about them. I wonder if I was just unlucky and overlooked. Did other ST-holders get an email reminder? K. PS Still no information about car parking season ticket btw

PS Still no information about car parking season ticket btw No they didn't. Nick G just has some sick crush on Cortese and will do anything to try and stick up for his first love. Now he has resorted to lieing. The only communication regards to season tickets has been their weekly newsletter, which effectively is just a working screen print of the website, where there is a link to Matchday prices ( not a featured story ) The club COULD text/email/post/advertise details at little cost in relation to the value of the product they are selling. They have chosen not to.

Yep definately confused and still trying to find the post where you mentioned home fans only. If you are a regulatr like me at St Marys you will see the away fans do not bring many fans but if you wan't real answers on home support just sit there and count the fans, other than that we will be supported more this season as we get better, it:s a no brainer the more successful you are the better the support will be.

I received an email on 7th June at 11:55: 'Season and Match Day packages announced'. This was from sender@eshot.me on behalf of SFC Marketing (marketing@saintsfc.co.uk). I think this was only because I had previously registered for Saints news and not because I was a season-ticket holder last season. I don't remember giving my email address when I bought the tickets, and I don't think the club ever asks for them. It told me 'Season tickets will go on sale at 9am on Tuesday 1st June' even though the email was the following Monday. Edited 21 June, 2010 by Whitey Grandad

As you will see below, my debate with Delldays was about how many extra or less home fans will be affected by the way the club have decided to promote season ticket sales. It really is quite easy to see what we are talking about. Of course we will get better gates if we are more succesful, hence why I said base it on the 1st 5 games. well..th truth will come out for the club if after the last home game of the season...the total number of home fans is lower than the season just gone and/or the gate receipts are down... maybe...you could say..the first 5 home games...if the total number of home fans through the gate is down..then that could be an indicator that they have got it wrong...(although, not definitive) trouble is..how do you find out the number of home fans though from last season (or any season)...there are also other variables too..but it will be a good indicator sweet....now, how the bloody hell do you find out the number of home fans at sms..??? dont they sometimes say how many the visitors brough in the post match reaction thingys on the OS..? or the number of away fans.. millwall would have brought loads and if I remember,. rovers sold the whole allocation... all pretty southern... Home fans only count warwick. what we are saying before..was that lets see the first 5 home games of the season...try and find out how many home fans attended and get some sort of inidication how that compares to last season (again, home fans) and see if it looks like if the club have fecked up
Whitey Grandad Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 Well let's just say that the number of season tickets is unlikely to have been increased by this approach.

I bow to your knowledge, I will suggest our gates will be very much higher in the first 5 games if not more, I have posted on here those gates, please keep these figures in mind when debating in the future.

It seems I could generate the club alot of revenue through savings in some areas and selling more season tickets. I can offer cheaper coaches for the Travel Club and installment plans at no cost to the club. I await their call. :-)

Whitey Grandad Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 another liar! So how many post Stu since your last post on the subject? Don't mean to mock tho as clearly you have issues. Steady on! We don't know how many people received this email (which I am happy to forward to anyone remotely interested). I receive sporadic communications from the club, be they by post or email, and I suspect that I only received this one because I had signed up to some obscure newsletter in the past. I tend to agree with Stu, that this email was part of a general ticketing update and not specifically aimed at existing season-ticket holders.

It was a screenshot of the website, with links on, if it is the same email I got, and not specific to Season Tickets, simply a 'latest news' update which I get every week too. And the fact only 2 ( 3 including me ) people on this thread have read it, it's hardly pro-active marketing. Don't worry about Nick. He get's his kicks from trying to look smart from the safety of his PC, just like Matthew Le God. When both of them are asked to back their thoughts up in real life, they both decline... funny that. :-) ( and no I wasn't threatening them, I simply wanted to see if they would have the same opinions in real life, it seems they prefer the safety net of an anonymous forum, shame, I would have even bought the beer. )

70's Mike Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 my mum and dad both late 70's only renewed because i told them to no pc , do not buy the echo because of their cr*p reporting dad was waiting for renewal forms as in previous years
NickG Posted 21 June, 2010 Posted 21 June, 2010 was question too hard? see pattern forming, proved wrong again about email - ignore! Need to check Stu's posts he tends to make things up.

I received an email - on our son's behalf - stating how to get a renewal, and what the cost were for every type of ticket. Sadly I received this after we had renewed his ticket, so deleted it

NickG Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 I got an email..and I have not had a ST for 12 years you must be lying - Stu told me that when I said I had an email (although he then said he had one as well??)

miserableoldgit Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 Season ends May. New season starts August. Must buy ST. No renewal form. No PC. Don`t read Echo. I know! I`ll ring the club and ask for details of renewal! Problem solved!

miserableoldgit Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 How many times must you ring a premium rate line? It depends what your preferences are!! The point that I was making is that it shouldn`t come as a surprise that the new season is coming so if neccessary make a little bit of an effort to find out the details. How do you find out when the first fixture is if you don`t read the Echo, or have a PC etc? If you are THAT interested in something you find out about it. Trouble is that people want someone to wipe there asses for them and have someone else to blame.

If the football club actually wanted to sell season tickets, then they would at least make an effort, of which they seem to be doing the very minimal. I run a business, I would be foolish and naive to think people are going to phone up and ask for my services and I need not do anything, I need to get out in the marketplace and remind my existing customer base that I am here and remind them I have a product for sale, for new customers I need to conduct advertising campaigns etc etc to promote my product. It is basic business common sense, and it does seem that common sense is lacking from alot of the posters on here. I don't think many of the posters who seem to think that SFC should be sitting back waiting for the phone to ring will be appearing on Dragons Den anytime soon.

I agree with much of what you say, and I also agree that the way that the club has handled things is far from satisfactory and is actually a bit strange, however, it annoys me that because of the clubs actions (inactions?) some people feel that they don`t have to put themselves out a little to get what they want and would prefer to say that everything is the clubs fault.
hypochondriac Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 I was a season ticket holder and I did not get an email.

What Benson has said above is spot on, but as you say if you really want a season ticket you will get one, one way or another, Unfortunately there are those that wont, this is the market they are missing. Cortese/ Leibherr thankfully saved our club, but they can still make mistakes and be questioned about it, we don't want to end up with another dictator ownership who will not listen to advice and refuse to adjust and end up alienating their customer base. Do we really want to go down that route again ?
Whitey Grandad Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 I was a season ticket holder and I did not get an email. I don't think there is any link on the customer database between season ticket holder and their email address.
hypochondriac Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 When you are selling a product, you have to assume that your customers are as lazy as possible. It is in your interest to make it as simple as possible to get access and information about your product because there is always the chance that if it is not easy to access that some people may be put off. That is of course unless you don't really want to sell as many as possible...

Whitey Grandad Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 Stu will say you put that together yourself! There is some truth in that. I had to take three screenshots and paste them together, and I still can't seem to get it full-size!
sandwichsaint Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 TBF the club's email marketing/news/infotainment is pretty shocking at the best of times. They have had my email address for prob 10 years and in that time I have received perhaps half a dozen completely random emails. When I held a membership (when they existed) they were pretty consistent with their snail-mail mail shots but not sure they have completely got to grips with this interweb thing?
slickmick Posted 22 June, 2010 Posted 22 June, 2010 (edited) Stu will say you put that together yourself! Nick, I don't think Stu is denying their was such an email, he is saying that it was only in a regular newsletter that you had to have subscibed to. For those like myself that have not subscribed would not know about season ticket pricing without visiting their website. Many others that don't have, or use computers, are missing out on whats going on. Yes they could phone, but when should they have phoned ? The club left it late in releasing details, so many people may well have had to keep phoning to find out, others would have just given up. A lot of the older fans don't trust giving details and payments over the phone and would prefer to have a renewal form to have in front of them to read and fill out. Do you not believe that sending forms in the post would have paid for itself and put more bums on seats ? Edited 22 June, 2010 by slickmick
