Im confident he'll stay. Leeds wont be able to afford the 3-4 million we would want. Newcastle wouldn't take such a gamble on a player who has never played above L1. He'll stay.

Yes you are right but after scoring loads of goals in League 1 I think it would not be a surprise if Rickie wanted to try to see if he could perform at a higher level

Posted
I reckon he could get 15 goals a year at a Premiership club.

Not a chance.

I know as a nailed on fact that Everton looked at him season before last as a £3mill back up player but didn't think him good enough.

He's a top player for us but never EPL standard.

I think he has improved since then his set piece free kicks are very good he would score a number in the Premier League I would have thought and would not miss many penalties

Posted

he scored loads season before as well, was available more cheaply and probably for lower wages - not aware of others trying to get him when we did

I personally think this is a load of old hogwash. Look around the Megastore - there's Lambert merchandise all over the place which tells me they expect him to be sticking around for more than one freekin' season. They're lining him up as the next Le Tiss - a hero for the kiddies. He's the face of the club now. He ain't going nowhere fast I tell thee. Errr, I think. :uhoh:

He will not leave.

The club will hold out for silly silly money that clubs will not pay, esp. since they've just done an expensive campaign with him heading up the new kit.

He is no worse than hesky if you ask me. I don't think people give him enough credit for what he can do. There are always gems in the lower leagues. If jermain beckford can secure a move to the prem why can't lambert. I know beckford is younger and everton didn't pa a fee but I geniunly beleive lambert could do a job in a prem side. Did he not give Portsmouth a torrid time at st marys?

Posted
Brett has been promoted to play there, not bought to play there.

HUGE difference.

Yeah who would buy him to play in the prem........oh.. ;)

Posted

well he was down david lloyd this morning in his sainys gear with the fitness coach working hard on the running machine, either working hard to get fit for a move or more likely, helping saints win the league next year

Posted

To be honest i think Lambert knows this club has more potential than the whole of this league and the vast majority of the Championship too. I think he will still be a saint come the end of the transfer window.

I have to say that it will have to be a very flattering offer both for the club and even more so for Rickie. When you have a current club hero who rocks up on a matchday in a 04 plated Cherokee, to me shows a man who feet are firmly on the ground and not tempted every single £5 note waved under his nose.

Posted

From his own mouth he's having the best time of his career, and he's bought a house down here - something he didn't do in all his time at Rovers, preferring to go back to Liverpool in the summer.

Posted

I do not think that he will be going anywhere next season. There is no comparison with Ormerod who has done well at Blackpool but is unlikely to feature much next season as they are relegated.

Yes I think you make a very good point.

I know for a nailed on fact that Notts Forest are looking at him for around £3 million. Not that they really need any more strikers.

I know for a nailed on fact that it's Nottm Forest and Notts County

Thing is, if he gets an offer he likes, he'll be offski, no matter what. I think personally he might be tempted by an offer from Newcastle or similar - he may be thinking that it represents one last chance at the big time. Hope he stays though.

I thought someone posted earlier this year that they had spoken to his Dad and that he wanted a shot at a season in the top flight ? If his family is settled,he is happy as he appears to be,and the Club has assured him of a good future Hampshire is a pretty good place to be I would have thought.

Yes but I don't think he'll be allowed to see any offers.

Well the strikers they got didn't help them to the promised land did it ;), and your nailed on fact is just pure speculation as you know as much as me and that's feck all. I see your location is how you dream

My boy got the new top Sunday and had Lambert on the back. The sale assistant asked if he was sure he wanted to do this. They always ask this when transfering names etc onto shirts. There is a risk to purchasing players names on the back of shirts during the Summer. Its a standard responce to a sale and sounds fair enough to me.

I think the fact he said he usually goes back up to Liverpooool in the summer to visit family but this year he is staying daaan saffff to settle in shows his intention to stay. And plus the fact we'll be in the CCC next season anyway.

Posted

would be a disaster if he left Pards is building a team round him I cant see us letting him go unless we get mental money even then who do you spend it on a 30 goal per season striker is priceless.

I think we will hang on to him.

Posted
No offence to Lambert but he's in his late 20's with only league 1 experience, why would a Prem club risk buying him?

because a couple of those dead ball kicks of his and the occasional nod down is all it takes to be worth a 2 million £ punt in the EPL; worse players than Rickie have been signed for far more than he would command.

Like Surman for example.

Load of rubbish. Hughton has been told he can sign frees and contract expiry players this summer as Newcastle's wage bill is still huge and Leeds haven't got 3-4m and have just signed Paynter. Leeds are more likely to go for Simeon Jackson or a similar type of speedy/smaller striker.
