On blackberry, log in screen comes up as if the name and password were all one line. Can type in user name but as soon as I attempt password it jumps back to my bookmarks folder.

Still getting the time delay on typing this too btw. Nothing appears on screen for a good 30 secs. Very unnerving.

Just tried it on my Blackberry, managed to log in and it seems to work fine - are you getting any error message when you try to log in?

And if instead of logging in, I try to access the saintsweb web site as such rather than go straight to the forum, it tells me too large to download.

Nope....they're not there, any other suggestions?

In the "General Settings" bit of your user control panel, right at the bottom you can set which type of editor you see when you reply - select one of the ones with the WYSIWYG options and that should display the smiley gallery. Alternatively, hit "Go Advanced" to go to the full reply page.

We're back! :D

What do you reckon then?

Sorry mate but it's awful. The format is very garish and in your face. A work safe mode would be good.

Also it is very slow when replying to a post. It takes ages for what you have typed to appear in the text box.

Doesnt seem to work on my blackberry very well. on the main forum when there are multiple pages numbers for avspecific thread title it seems to have all the writing on top of each other.

I've now finally managed to log in on my blackberry ..just repeated attempts finally succeeded.. but it now refuses to get any further than the index list of posts. When I try to view any actual thread it says 'file too large to download'. This is a real downer Steve. The forum used to fill boring train journeys to and from London. So the fancy new look is actually a reduction in functional service.

I expect it may be something to do with the images - do you have quite an old Blackberry? The newer versions of the Blackberry browser are much better with large page downloads, and cache quite a lot of the images and stylesheet files. You could try changing your user settings to not display user avatars? That should cut down a fair bit of the download time - turning off JavaScript will reduce the amount of data by a third as well

Not an option for those at work and in a controlled user environment!

I am the admin for a fairly large network and IE is the default cause its less work for me to do. If I had to install Firefox on everyones machine and give rights to update it to everyone my network would be screwed in 1 month.

Firefox is faster but to save a heap load of work its much easier to stick with IE. Most business's will have similar logic so any new site should be made with IE in mind more than any other.

IE is supported, the site works fine with both IE7 and 8. However, there is absolutely no justification for spending hours hacking the site around to make it work on IE6 - even Microsoft doesn't support that browser anymore.

Sorry I wasnt trying to say it wasnt. Just backing up what Ewell said as to why its not possible for some users to just use another browser.

It does seem a bit sluggish on IE though and type takes a few seconds to catch up with fingers. Wish I had some ideas that may help but I stay well away from web stuff so cant even offer anything usefull.

There are a few things I'll try tonight if I get time - the main page content is compressed with gzip, so on subsequent page loads it should be quite quick, but the various JavaScript files (one of which is quite large - uses the Yahoo UI library) aren't compressed, so that'll probably be the first port of call.

Many thanks for all the hard work - I like it on the whole, especially the new banner, and it seems to run quicker for me at least but as others have said I'd much prefer a proper worksafe scheme (Archive mode is crap!) - other than that good work and thanks again.

P.S. - can we have the old  smiley back please?! this one is rubbish!

And lose out on SNSuns offering ?

Just for you SS ;-)

It seems as though Tapatalk's compatibility with version 4 of vBulletin isn't as good as they claim... I think Baj is still working on trying to get it going.

Sweet.

I'm never a fan of change, but it's not bad. Are we only having this one skin, or will other skins be brought over from the old site?

The old ones aren't compatible with the new version, so the simple answer is "no", but we won't rule out bringing in other skins. Bear in mind we either have to find an off-the-shelf skin from somewhere or design our own (which would obviously take a significant amount of time).

Well for peeps that do this in their own time, I think it looks pretty damn good.

(For sliming up your pooper, can I be protected against future infractions... :-))

This looks the place to look for a nice new skin.

I can't be arsed to register to look at them properly.

I suggest as your punishment for the use of the term "sliming up your pooper" that you should do the necessary and find us a nice new style not disimilar to the old so those that fear change like myself can have a smoother transition into the new site!

Liking the integration by the way Steve. It's obviously better than before so cheers for the effort.

*edit* In fact that Morbid black one at the top looks perfect for the worksafe option that people were after http://digitalvb.com/forum/forum.php?styleid=21

It's a fairly new blackberry curve actually, but I'll try changing the settings. Thanks

if it works on your blackberry with whoever provides your network, then great..

so far, we have gone from something that worked for everyone who used it and it worked bloody well...

to something that looks awful and does not work for everyone..

im sure it wont be an issue for many, but sooner or later subscriptions will come around again and if it does not work like it did, maybe some wont renew so quickly
