sperm_john Posted 14 June, 2010 Share Posted 14 June, 2010 capello will play him because if he doesnt its like hes admitting he was wrong to play him in the first place, also, cant we give the guy a bit of a break, we drew our opening game against uruquay in 66 and went on to win the world cup, its not the end of the world, the yanks are likely to be our toughest group opponent so at the end of the day it wasnt the worst outcome possible, also, how much of a w4nk er is Edgar Davids and his commentating on the day time games
Dave Benson Phillips Posted 14 June, 2010 Share Posted 14 June, 2010 Green shouldn't have been picked in the first place, haven't forgiven him for bottling it against Ukraine a while ago... or acting like a complete **** when we played Norwich in the relegation season. JoeShmoe Posted 14 June, 2010 Share Posted 14 June, 2010 Capello shouldn't have picked Milner, King or Heskey, let alone Green He shouldnt have tried to play Gerrard/Lumplard in CM together when its proven about 100 times it dont work I only hope he isnt stubborn, admits his mistakes and changes things. Rooney up top with Stevie G behind him James, Johnson, Terry, Carra, A Cole, Lennon, Barry, Lampard, JCole, Gerrard, Rooney

L1Minus10 Posted 14 June, 2010 Share Posted 14 June, 2010 No - get rid. He made a balls of Altidore's shot in the 2nd half as well and got lucky. he's had a **** season for West ham and is only on the plane due to lack of options, much the same as Heskey. both James and hart are better bets, as is Kirkland. Saint J 77 Posted 14 June, 2010 Share Posted 14 June, 2010 I'm going to mention this again as I think its worth pointing out. According to Opta statistics, Green made more errors leading to goals than any other player in the Premier League last season. You'd think that the England manager would look at a statistic like that when choosing his team. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/foot...10/8737289.stm So why has the most error prone player in the premier league now England number 1? I thought statistics played a big part in football now? Capello either didn't see this stat (which I can t imagine) or just didn't care.
bpsaint Posted 14 June, 2010 Share Posted 14 June, 2010 Are you for real? Fair enough moan because of the howler he made but to moan because he made a save ffs, I can just see the Algerian message board now moaning at the soft goal thay let in I am for real yes,I think a keeper of Greens calibre should have dealt with Altidores shot better, and it's pure luck it hit the post instead of going in. No you are not for real, he made a save that a lot of keepers wouldn't of made yet you still moan. Like I said moan when he makes a mistake but not when he does what he is employed to do and that is to make that save.

FFS,I wasn't moaning about the save in the first place,I was moaning about the commentators creaming themselves over what I believe was an average save that an international keeper should have dealt with better. If you have a different opinion that's fine, but don't try and change mine.
Gingeletiss Posted 15 June, 2010 Share Posted 15 June, 2010 It appears that Rob Green trained today, had 200 shots fired in at him, and not one conceded. He and Emile Heskey will now be allowed to train with the rest of the squad tomorrow.

He picked him as his number one, it was a mistake, get over it. Dropping him will severely damage not only his but the teams confidence. He won't make a massive howler like that again. RedArmy Posted 17 June, 2010 Share Posted 17 June, 2010 What happens if James plays and makes a classic howler? Call for Hart in the next game? We've gotta stick with Green.
Smirking_Saint Posted 17 June, 2010 Share Posted 17 June, 2010 IMO he SHOULD have gone for Hart from the start, but he didn't he opted for Green, who IMO is a very good keeper. Lol at the people that say drop Green for his clanger but pick 'calamity' James, he didn't get that name for nothing FFS, Hypocrisy i'd say. Stick with him. Infact Mods, can you make a poll ?? Green to stay, James or Hart ???

Yes he could redeem himself but he also make another big mistake. Its not about Robert Green and there is no room for sentiment in football. So what if it damages his confidence further I would say it shot to bits already. If you want to progress in this tournament you have to play the best team and Green isnt part of it. Capello will play him again because if he doesn't like admitting he was wrong to pick him in the first place. The truth is he was wrong to pick him. He was the most error prone player in the premier league last season and he shouldn't be anywhere near the England team. I really go not understand why he is there. You may think I am being harsh but like I said there is no room for sentiment in football. Green has had his chance and he blew it. Capello needs to hold his hands up admit his mistake in picking him and move on but he is so stubborn he will not. If Green plays tomorrow I will not be surprised if we blow it. I hope I am proved wrong, but I doubt I will be
Smirking_Saint Posted 17 June, 2010 Share Posted 17 June, 2010 I don't get the 'Capello will not admit he is wrong' He does not strike me as a man like that at all. If Green is picked it would be for reasons other than stubborness. As i said, i would have gone for Hart to start however it will put him or james into the exact same position if Green is dropped, in the back of their heads would be the mistake that Green had made and they would be petrified of doing a similar thing and subsequently be dropped. The difference is Green will not make that mistake again. Also in Greens defence he is not the only keeper to have made big errors this world cup. Capello needs to look him in the eye and ask if Green is mentally ready to play, if he is not then he might aswell send him home. If he is mentally ready than pick him. Capello has admitted he made mistakes, he did it in a press conference today, part of that makes me believe Green will be dropped though.
iansums Posted 18 June, 2010 Share Posted 18 June, 2010 Well it looks like Green could be dropped in favour of James: http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jun/18/world-cup-2010-david-james-goalkeeper I have to say once this World Cup is out of the way I would make Joe Hart the No. 1.
