The "I've got a new kit" fred

Well after thinking I could wait it out, we went into town yesterday and just happened by the SMS Megastore, so had to have a look at the new kit. I bought one there and then AND the missus bought a nice T AND she bought me one of those half England half Saints T's for my birthday which I reckon look very nice indeed. I posted earlier that I was a bit concerned that the new shirt was 100% polyester, but I have to say it's probably the most comfortable footie shirt I have ever worn - MUCH better quality than the old shirts. The overall look is fantastic IMO including the badge, the collar....right down to the little triangle detail on the bottom side of the shirt with the text on the rear side which is a sign of how much thought has gone into this product. For once in terms of buying a footie shirt, I actually feel like my £40 was money well spent.

Mine just got delivered :D really impressed, ordered it first thing yesterday morning, wasn't expecting it till tomorrow.

I love it, but...does anyone have any idea how to wash it? I'm worried the red is going to run into the rest of the shirt.

Ive already washed mine on a 40 wash as per the label and none of the clour ran. All of the rum and coke stains from Saturday night even came out ;-)

I've only once had a problem with clothes ruined by running colours. It occured through putting some tosh throw from north africa in with my wash. It's not something you should worry yourself about.

And for no other reason than i can...:toppa:

Guys quick question. I live up in London and can't down south for a while to try the shirt on, so can you tell me whether the new shirt comes up as a regular fit, small etc.

Normally i am a large, but the old shirt was really tight and i would of been an XL. Just not sure whether to gamble on a size, also im liking the long sleeve look, as it reminds me of the lovely Peru kit.

Your thoughts welcome chaps

The size was exactly the same as last seasons away shirt, if that's any help.

I'd send it back then to exchange for a clean one. That doesn't seem hygienic at all.

Not til I've got er indoors to wear it in bed a few times..hopefully when I am there.....It may then have to be returned for a clean one.

Change shirts at half time.... only too glad as her nightdress is a little tight on me. I never last the whole 90 seconds....

Yes Merce, I take a 38 england shirt which is perfect and the home kit last season was fairly fitted - a medium was fine for me.

This seasons home which is supposedly "tailored" (not) is actually much baggier in the chest body & neck. More a 40 than 38.

The medium looked ok on me but I prefer a fitted look, so I have taken back and exchanged for small. What they really needed to do was do it in half sizes like the england shirts, I need one in between!

I would get a large if you want a more fitted look and XL if you like it baggy. Im off to apply me lip gloss........

Just a warning- The cuffs are really tight so if you like to roll your sleeves up you may have some difficulty!

Anyone ever ordered of the Online Store? If so how long does it take to get to you? If I order today, will it be here by Sunday?

Cheers.

I have never had a problem with online ordering, I am in SA at the moment but when I get back will order mine online, should take about a day or two, no more hopefully.

cheers for that....so, just to clarify, if I'm a 38-40 inch chest and want a top that's more 'baggy' than 'close fit' then I'm looking at needing an 'XL' rather than an 'L'...?

Cheerski

I would pesonally advise you go for an XL. I don't know what chest I am but i'm often between medium and large with all other clothes. I bought a medium but i'm starting to think I should have gone for a large - the sash rubs on my nipply(!) whereas my friend who is skinnier also got a medium and as he so delightfully told me - 'my nipple is more in the red part of the sash, hence no rubbing!'

I've shared too much...

Go XL if you like them a bit baggy - thats what I did and I normally take a medium or large depending on manyfacturer's genirosity on sizes.

I couldnt decide between L and XL but plumped for XL - long sleeve, and the shirt is "roomy" on the body but a perfect fit on the sleeves - a Large would have had tight cuffs.

Its like a bloody tailors convention on this thread at the moment !!

I would say so mate, in general this is a similar fit to last seasons away shirt which is a looser fit than last seasons home. If last seasons large home shirt was a little too tight, this seasons large would be just right as it will be half a size bigger.

If however you want it "baggy", yes XL would be better.

and take note of the long sleeves, yes the arms are tighter as mentioned above.

Do they do the N-Power League badges for the sleeves yet?

I'll probably leave them anyway, sponsor free!

Im in 2 minds about this. Do i get the standard badges this year or wait until we win the league and then get the gold badges on this shirt to show this is the shirt we won leage 1 in :)

Normally umbro kits are a bit smaller, so the large might be a bit tight again. They definitely seem smaller than Nike kits anyway, but I guess that's why they make up to XXXL or something.

They go right up to 5XL. Which even for a BFB like me, was too big. 4XL gives me lots of room.

For those who have washed the shirt, was there any shrinkage?

wow, got mine. Was quietly sat at work in the office checking all the latest world cup gossip, when a package got delivered to me with sender address of St Marys written on it. Open it up all confused, and turns out my lovely g/f had secretly bought it and had it delivered :)

Even better, I work in Chichester so have paraded it around the office to the disgust of all my Pompey work mates. They all grudgingly admit the shirt is good looking though!

Excellent shirt and I love it and I get to wear it to work on the England game next Wednesday, when we are allowed to wear football shirts to the office. They might mean England shirts only, but meh, I'll be wearing my Saints shirt!
