dubai_phil Posted 12 June, 2010 Share Posted 12 June, 2010 Great. Calamity James & Grovelling Green in the squad. Randomness update from down here. The gaps in coverage I commented on in other threads are caused by "Hackers" - FIFA is appalled that "an outside agency is trying to deny Al Jazeera access to the coverage - no prizes for guessing who that is then. Random watching the game with Polish GF & family and a mate turns up - he's a Yank and is working in Afghanistan. Took him 5 minutes to ask why the coach wasn't taking a time out OMG Mark Hately is Soooooo Old now - looks older than Terry Venables (what is that thing on your chin Terry - give it up mate you ain't ever gonna be Jimmy Hill We're awful - which is good as I have us down for being awful and winning 3-1 Coverage is awful we had almost 5 minutes of re-runs of the Gerrard goal. Yes, fantastic to see but NOT 74 times and did we REALLY need to have a view from a camera on th Space Station? Would have preferred an ITV ad break. Talking of ads - Love the Thierry Henry having the p1ss taken by The Meerkats, better than the Messi one. Glad I ain't down a pub paying 5 quid a pint to watch that rubbish... Oh, we're 1-0 up and we bring on Wright-Phillips with Lennon on the other flank? WTF are you thinking there Fabio? You wanted a winger as cover then you should have taken Adam Johnson. But TWO midfielders who cannot tacle & defend as WELL as Glen Johnstone? Hmmmmmmmmm back to the post BBQ vino

dubai_phil Posted 12 June, 2010 Share Posted 12 June, 2010 (edited) What was the interruption? It's either Mossad or Al Qaeda, big thing about it down here FIFA made an official statement - FIFA are "Appalled". they should be watching England then they would have been Appalled & Horrified that we haven't had another break - the last 41 minutes of the 1st half would have been perfect to have hacked off Edited 12 June, 2010 by dubai_phil

I thought up a list and typwd it out then i deleted it, because i'm no different to most nationalists in that i celebrate diversoty and it's because of that when i go holiday abroad i eat the local food, and observe their customs, and leave a tip (so ir makes mw a better perspn than a german) and attempr to SAY hello and thankyou in the naive tonge. This is why i hate america but don't hate other countries (note i didn't say their current regimes, but they have an identity and it's nice tp see diversity. I remember my biggest ever single betting loss - Italy v USA a couple of World Cups ago. £150 on Italy to win. Easy Italy win you'd think. Until they decided to make a punch up of the whole match and it ended a draw with 3 sendings off :/ Don't be surprised if they draw v New Zealand. . . . OK, I'll rephrase it then. Italy tend to win when they are expected to. But they also tend to win when they aren't expected to, which nowadays isn't that often. Don't get me wrong, I really want England to win. I'm just fed up with years of them tripping over their own mistakes and poor performances. You and I know that England should be wiping the floor with the USA. But at 19.30 this evening, I knew they'd make heavy weather of it.

SuperMikey Posted 12 June, 2010 Share Posted 12 June, 2010 .....and realisation finally hits home for the deluded England fans! Compared to the likes of Italy, Spain, Brazil, Argentina etc, England haven't got enough quality in their squad to be able to be seen as serious contenders. When you look past the better players in the team (Rooney, A.Cole, Lampard, Gerrard), there is no backup, whereas teams like Argentina have quality spilling out of their ears. The likes of Cambiasso didn't even make the WC squad for them ffs! Based on that, England won't get past the 1/4 Finals.
rocknrollman no2 Posted 12 June, 2010 Share Posted 12 June, 2010 Why is Lampard in the team?He was utter rubbish at the last world cup and since then hes done nothing to impress for England since.Hes rubbish at free kicks and cant put two passes together. Now Gerrard in his post match interview is blaiming Green for his error, but surely its the whole team to blame for the overall performance? dubai_phil Posted 12 June, 2010 Share Posted 12 June, 2010 Well, at least we can all say WE TOLD YOU TO PICK LAMBERT. Meanwhile I think we're now worth a punt to win the Cup. No way Capello will play SWP AND Lennon together until chasing a game (God wasn't SWP shocking and Carragher made ME look pacey in the SMS warm-up) Also WC's are won by teams with an awful build up and who just scrape through their group. And - you guys probably missed the cringe worthy moment from our commentator Bradley.......... Wright Phillips......... Bradley Arrrgh
markr27 Posted 12 June, 2010 Share Posted 12 June, 2010 Always going to be a draw, and I suspect both England and USA will win their other two games, hence it'll be decided on goal difference who tops the group. England vs Germany? England vs Serbia? England vs Australia? Hmph.

alpine_saint Posted 12 June, 2010 Share Posted 12 June, 2010 This is the first time I have seen anything but very short highlights of England under Capello. Does he really tell them to play so deep and let the other team come on ? I was sat here, really wondering what the f**k the fuss is about Lampard. I hope he is dropped for Barry in the next game. I would have thought the same about Rooney, but since witnessing the Japan game live, I really think he simply isnt fit.

Oh God no I hope he doesn't drop Lampard - that would leave Gerrard & Barry in CM and mean he has to pick SWP again on the left if Milner is still unfit. Today showed the dangers of his original selection. 5 CB's and not enough proper midfielders. Two wide men chasing an open game is fine but to play them for 70 minutes - Lampard was dead on his feet at the end trying to cover the gaps left by them. Lennon showed some promise but he has to play Lampard & Barry in CM with Gerrard doing what he did in the qualifiers, coming in from the left
